Spiritually Brain Dead

Well....

If God "sovereignly" wants me to ignore His sovereignty?

What can I do? For who can resist the will of God?

:coffee:
That is the point.
Can you resist the will of God!

If you could, that would make you God.
Do you dictate the will of God?

Of course you can resist. But you'll be sor ... ry!!!! Or maybe that should be "sore-ry". ;)

Acts 7:51
“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

You think it is not God's will that there would be stiff-necked and uncircumsised in heart people around?
Are they thwarting the will of God somehow?

You think God wills them to be evil?

Do you dictate the will of God?

Now how does that make you God? (besides taking what you cited out of context)

That kind of thinking gets believers who think that way swatted by the devil into becoming a blotch on a wall.

I ask you...

Can you dictate to God that you refuse to mature in Christ?
YES you can!
And, then act like a brain dead religious person in your refusal.

God wants all believers to mature and grow up in Christ!
Now if God is sovereign as you claimed? No one can resist His will.
All believers would have sound doctrine and be mature... and be able to agree with one another.

According to your reasoning? God is not sovereign if He can not get all believers to mature.

We as humans have a place of sovereignty in our souls designated by God, called "volition."

Why should we be granted such sovereignty?

Because? Man was created in God's Image!!!!!! God is sovereign!

We must have some sovereignty granted to us if we are to be truly in His Image!

By God's grace I have just gave you the facts you have not worked out yet. I pray you do.

grace and peace ......

You think God wills them to be evil?
Nope.

What I asked you is if you think God is not in control.
Acts 7:51
“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

Act 7:48 Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says,
Act 7:49 “‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest?
Act 7:50 Did not my hand make all these things?’
Act 7:51 “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.
Act 7:52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whom you have now betrayed and murdered,
Act 7:53 you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.”

Stephen, about to die is talking to the Jewish Leaders above:
Rom 11:2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?
Rom 11:3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.”
Rom 11:4 But what is God's reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
Rom 11:5 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
Rom 11:6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
Rom 11:7 What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,
Rom 11:8 as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”

Now how does that make you God? (besides taking what you cited out of context)

The problem you have is you are comparing apples with oranges.

Unsaved:
Do you believe man is spiritually dead.
Do you believe man has to be born again in order to see the Kingdom of God.
Do you believe man can understand that he has to be born again without a direct revelation from God.
Do you believe ALL men receive a direct revelation from God, and the majority choose to not believe what they came to believe as an absolute truth.
Do you believe that God hides the truth from some.

Saved:
Do you believe the saved are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Do you believe that Jesus is the author and perfector of salvation.
Do you believe He is working in you both to will and work for His glory?

What I asked you is if you think God is not in control.
And I'll answer the question once you recant your incorrect statement that God's will can't be resisited. (post#43). Scripture says it can. I don't know why you think this somehow impinges on God's sovereignty? It doesn't weaken Him in any way. He knows how to deal with evil.

Can you dictate to God that you refuse to mature in Christ?
YES you can!

You put up words that look like it should mean something.
But, it did not address what I said.

Believers can refuse to mature in Christ.
One way to do it is to memorize lots of Scripture to make it look like they know something...
but..... have no, or little understanding, of what they have memorized.

I will ask you again...

Can you dictate to God that you refuse to mature in Christ?
YES you can!

Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model,
keep your eyes on those who live as we do. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you
again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction,
their god is their belly (emotions), and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly
things." Philippians 3:17-19

Do you believe the saved are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Do you believe that Jesus is the author and perfector of salvation.
Do you believe He is working in you both to will and work for His glory?

What you said is how it should be. And, could be.

But when believer's god is their emotions?
They will grieve that same Spirit who wants to work in them.
(It says we can both grieve and quench the Spirit, does it not?)

If so? We will not find out in this lifetime what He wanted to will and work in us for His glory.

God did not put us on some automatic pilot mode once we became saved.
To think otherwise is fatalism.

We can fail... Its not some sealed deal that we can not make a wrong choice as to lose eternal rewards!
1 Cor 3:11-15 tells us we can choose to think wrong and lose rewards as a result! But, not lose our salvation!

You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? Gal 5:7
That is the problem. We need to keep on being fed daily sound doctrinal teachings in order to grow and mature in Christ!

Pray for it. Staid and stiff denominationalism is only a place to hide when the spiritual bombs are going off in our lives...
It gives us a common point to bond with "like minded" people. But not with God, who is the Word. The Word that became flesh.

We are to become the Word made flesh in varying degrees.
Depending upon how much we are willing to mature in the Word.

Can you dictate to God that you refuse to mature in Christ?
YES you can!

.......

I will not recant.

The Holy Spirit is resisted.
It is not against God's will that the Holy Spirit shall be resisted.

You can resist the will of God all you like. That does not change the will of God.

I doubt someone who does not believe in the sovereignty of God and think God is not in control, and is surprised by a stiff necked people, will ever be able to admit that.

God gave man free will.
Correct. But man is spiritually dead and unable to understand spiritual truth.

You cannot choose something that you do not understand.

Did you choose God or did God choose you?
If you chose Him, how were you able to understand spiritual truths without revelation.
If you claim all have the same revelation and some make the better choice, then you have to explain what sets them apart from those who do not.

Can you dictate to God that you refuse to mature in Christ?
YES you can!
Of course you can.
IS THAT NOT GOD"S WILL! HAS HE LOST CONTROLL? ARE YOU NOW DICTATING TO GOD!

Rom 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Rom 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Who do you suppose is working in you to will and to work for His good pleasure.

You people love the self way to much. You always want to credit self and leave God in the loop.

Try giving God the glory due Him only for a change and stop glorifying in your abilities!

Huh?? First you suggested you cannot resist God's will, now you're saying you can. Get your story straight please. :)

Correct. But man is spiritually dead and unable to understand spiritual truth.

That is correct. That is why we are saved by grace. First grace presents the truth and we choose to believe or not. God has determined to save believers ergo, believers are saved by grace.

My story:
You can most certainly do anything you want and resist in any way.
That does not THWART the will of God.

I used the word resist, and that is the incorrect word to use.

Thinking you can thwart the will of God, would make you God.

Grace presents the truth and you understand and accept this is truth, and then choose to not believe what you believe is truth?

That seems oxymoronic to me.

No-one said anything about thwarting the will of God so you're talking to yourself there mate. :)

Accepting it as truth is believing it. Seeing what grace presents and rejecting it is not believing. Try reading what I said again. Grace presents the truth, we see it and either accept it or reject it. I never said anything about accepting as truth and then rejecting it.

So why not accept my admission of making a mistake by using the wrong word?

So you agree God's will cannot be thwarted?
