That’s the misconception with those who don’t know all postmillennialism teaches. It does not teach a steady upward trajectory but times when things look really dark. It feel out of favor with a lot after WWII.
Do you think the world is more Christ like now than it was during Christ's walk on earth?

So, the church loses out in the end. She has failed her mission to make disciples of (not in) all the nations. Christ has to come and rescue his defeated bride, who lost out to Satan.
The church cannot loose, it is the body of Christ.

But shall suffer Col 1:24,
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

Consider all the martyrs

Making disciples of all nations? As in, from every tribe tongue and nation? Nope, it does not fail at all. Especially since it is the Holy Spirit who gathers the elect.

Of course not. And you know better. Not a single soul that God has set His sights on shall be lost. Not a single name in the Lamb's Book of Life will be blotted out. Satan isn't even in the competition so that's just weird. The body of Christ is not responsible for saving anyone. The body of Christ has the honor of being the means by which the Gospel is proclaimed and souls are saved by God.

Postmil and Amil's singular purpose is to defend God against certain attacks by an unbelieving World. The trouble is that God needs no such defense. God knows what a Millennium is as does John.

Awesome! I’m remembering why I miss your input brother!
Glory to God alone!

I hope to be useful, brother. Most times I feel like I come off as just grumpy. o_O
I don’t know how anyone who is into cat herding can be grumpy? 🤔

But seriously, I appreciate and respect, your knowledge, and love for our Lord.

That makes you quite useful 😎

CBS: Confused By Symbolism.

So once we exclude Daniel/Revelation [surrendering it to people with better imaginations and spiffy charts], there are only a few important basics.
  • Jesus left and will return like He left.
  • Dead will rise first and meet Him in the air and the living will join them.
  • Party to end all parties in Heaven ... and WE are invited.
  • We will live with GOD forever and ever.
Most of the rest is "just details" ... God will work out the details and they will probably surprise us [How many in the OT were expecting the Messiah to be born in a manger and Crucified?]

That just makes you a Panmillenialist like most. In other words "It will all pan out in the end". ❤️

Now if you DO want to know a bit more I'm sure every person interested in here would be glad to bury you in a veritable mountain of information.

It was being buried under all of the "facts" that led me to become "Panmillennialist" in the first place. I am not completely ignorant, in this case ... "In a multitude of counselors, there is confusion." ;)

Okay, thanks.

I don't know much about postmillenialism; in fact, I've tended to stay away from eschatology in general, since it involves so much speculation.

It fell out of favor due to Israel suddenly becoming a nation again in 1948. Caused quite a stir. Both Post and Amil took something of a hit at that time. Was it justified? Who knows...we shall see.
Hmm...

Modern Israel is very different from ancient Israel. In any case, the law has been fulfilled in Christ, so that all saved Jews and Gentiles are in the one body.

Dunno, as I was not not there to be able to compare the two eras. :p

But look at how much Christianity has grown and spread from the Middle East of AD 30-33 unto today.

Apples too oranges, brother. Compare world populations at the two times ( good luck...but it was much smaller in Jesus's time ) and percentages of "true believers" ( again good luck since there isn't a flashing sign above our heads ).

I'd hazard that for every actual bona fide Christian there are 9 more that just think they are. Then there is the "world's" habit of lumping RCC, Mormans, Protestants, and any other group claiming the name together.

On the bright side it's Christ who builds His church...and he won't miss a single person. He can certainly pick up an evangelist and drop him in front of a Eunich 200 miles or so away. So no fear.

It's like the mustard seed that grows and the yeast that permeates the dough. I hope to give you a detailed, biblically based blog post, as to why I see postmill as being the biblical eschatalogical system. But please be patient with me as I am going prep for a sermon that I am going to preach from Proverbs 14:34 and Psalm 73:18-19. :)

Sounds timely.

Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a disgrace to any people.
