John 17:3= a prayer to the Father= This means eternal life, their knowing you( Father) THE ONLY TRUE GOD and the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ----Do you know the Father as THE ONLY TRUE GOD? If not you do not know him and thus will not get eternal life---best to believe Jesus-HE is the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through him.

The very meaning of "Immanuel", [necessarily] implies it. "God With Us" is not symbolic nor metaphorical. This is just one of many plays on words, in stark literal fashion that to my mind nails down who Jesus is: From Eden til the New Jerusalem of Rev 21, God With Us is the theme and the reason for creating the universe, though expressed different ways, such as "God himself will dwell among them; they will be his people and and he will be their God." And in Rev 21 and its context, this 'God' referred to is pretty obviously Jesus Christ, as such, though not to the exclusion of the Father and the Spirit.
