A different view of Daniels 70 weeks

As Martyn Lloyd-Jones preached their bringing in again, acceptance, receiving again will be like life from the dead, Romans 11:15. That is how significant the bringing in again, or acceptance shall be. And he was no Dispensationalist, but taught by exegesis.

The question is still whether the whole race-nation is meant. V15 is always true of those raised in Judaism like Paul’s former colleagues were.

If the anointed one is Jesus then how can He come 49 years or 7-7,s after He dies?

25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One,[f]the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.[g]
Right in your post, "seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens." Seven time seven is 49 and sixty two times seven is 434, so a total of 483.
So, seven weeks plus 62 weeks comes to 69 weeks, or 483 days. Thus, 69 of the 70 weeks are immediately accounted for. Plus, this gives us the starting point of the 70 weeks.

All that remains is one week, the last, the seventieth.

That week immediately appears in the next verse, when Gabriel says, “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself” (verse 26).

After what 62 weeks? The 62 weeks of the previous verse, which follow the seven weeks. Thus, after the seven weeks and the 62 weeks, that is, after 69 weeks, the Messiah will be “cut off.” And because only one week remains in the prophecy, this verse is referring to the seventieth week, the last seven days.

This final week is depicted again: “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering” (verse 27).

In the midst of the last week, or in three and a half days, the “sacrifice and offerings” will cease.

Maybe you misunderstood what I am saying or maybe I didn’t explain myself.

I state in the OP what happened during the Maccabean revolt. My point in my last post was that terrible things were happening under Antiochus Epehanies but the Jews were given hope through Judas Maccabees as he rose up and Antiochus was defeated and the temple sacrifices were reestablished

They already knew the new covenant was not going to follow that pattern.

But maybe he missed the hortative sense of the verbs (to urge, prod, compel). What we don’t find in Rom 11 is a clear reference to being in their land, bc that Isaiah quote is actually meant in the accomplished , historic sense. If they did what he wanted, there would be many Jewish missionaries around the world.

In the original post, this statement is not Biblically accurate:
he knew that the prophet Jeremiah had prophesied that the captivity would last for 70 years.
The Jewish captivity in Babylon was NOT 70 years long. Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem in 586 BC and carted off most of the population at that point. At that point the land was desolate since the population of farmers was gone. Under Cyrus, who God calls His messiah, the Jewish population was allowed to return to the land. In 538 BC. That is a period of 48 years. NOT 70 years. The historical FACT is that the empire of Babylon lasted exactly 70 years. That is the prophecy that Jeremiah was talking about. That is what Daniel realized. And THAT is was Gabriel came to Daniel to talk about.

The Jewish captivity started in 605 BC and yes Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BC

See what see says below

Daniel 9
9 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes[a] (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian[b] kingdom— 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

Yes the destruction of the temple happened in 70AD

Also how could Jesus come 49 years after He was cutoff?

Daniel 9
25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One,[f]the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing

On coming after being cut off—have you heard of the resurrection?

Wrong! The Babylonians carted off a SMALL number of people in the first visit by their army. That could never be called a national captivity.

You include the quote from the NIV. Try reading what other translators have done with the ORIGINAL HEBREW. One can not get the true sense of many passages by how things read in English. The way the original Hebrew text reads is that the number of years spoken of by Jeremiah concerned the COMPLETION of the period of time. The completion would be signified by the end of the time that Jerusalem would be desolate (without people). The beginning of that time was not being referred to in that passage in Daniel. For that, you have to go to the passage in Jeremiah. There he does not refer to the captivity of Jerusalem as being 70 years. No where in Jeremiah does he say the Jews will be in Babylon for 70 years. What he does say is that Babylon has been granted 70 years by God in order to be the dominant empire of that region. The 70 years has NOTHING to do with the Jews whatsoever. It is the prophecy of how long Babylon will rule.

They became the dominant power after defeating the Assyrians and Egyptians in 609 BC. They lasted exactly 70 years. Until Cyrus and the Persians conquered them in 539 BC. THAT is what Daniel recognized in Jeremiah as the prophecy that was fulfilled.

If you get your head around this often misunderstood topic, you will be 90% on your way to the proper interpretation of the 70 Weeks prophecy that Gabriel gave Daniel. This is why the vast majority have never truly got the 70 Weeks correct.
