There are only four verses in the entire bible that uses the word antichrist

1 John 2:18
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

Many Christians believe that the antichrist will be the future evil world ruler of the book of Revelation who will rule the world during the end times but is that what the bible actually teaches?

It is interesting that John the disciple who wrote the four verses mentioning the word antichrist was the same John who wrote the book of Revelation. It is also interesting that John didn’t use the word antichrist in the book of Revelation. Why would this be? Could it be that the antichrist John wrote about in his epistles is different from the one most Christians believe to be the antichrist in the book of Revelation?

John used the word beast to describe the evil persecuting world leader in the book of Revelation and its description and character is much different from the description and character of the antichrist. The beast is described symbolically as a ten horned seven headed creature who rules the world and persecutes the saints.

Let’s look at who and what John says is the antichrist.

1 John 2:18-27
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. John is showing us that the antichrist isn’t just one person but many people. John is also stating that the antichrist was present before, after and during his day. John also states that the antichrist is the opposite of truth and John tells us in the verse below that Jesus is truth

John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Thus this antichrist who John says is a liar is antichrist because it is the opposite of truth which is Jesus who is the Christ.

Let’s look at what else John says is the antichrist.

Once again John tells us that this antichrist is not just one but many. John tells us again that the antichrist was present in his day and John also tells us that the antichrist is not just people but it is actually a spirit. Let’s take a look at the last time that John mentions the word antichrist.

7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. John tells us once again that the antichrist isn’t just one but many. John then goes on to say that this antichrist is the deceiving spirit who denies that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Jesus Christ coming in the flesh means that the Man Jesus is the Christ the anointed one the Messiah the son of God.

When we read all four verses that uses the word antichrist it seems that he was meaning apostate Israel in his day. Apostate Israel was active when John wrote these words and they denied that Jesus was the Christ by denying Jesus they also denied the Father. Antichrist is not complete in apostate Israel but they do fit the description John gave in his day.

The antichrist is much different from the sea beast in the book of Revelation. The sea beast purpose is to rule the earth to be worshipped as god, destroy Babylon the great and to try to wipeout the church. The antichrist purpose to deceive and to divert people away from the Messiah Jesus the Christ. The antichrist is more like the land beast from the book of Revelation also known as the false prophet.

In conclusion John teaches in the bible that the antichrist is not a future evil world leader but a deceiving spirit within many people who was present in John’s day and whose purpose was to divert people away from the true Messiah Jesus the Christ. John used different titles for the beast and the antichrist for a reason and John showed us what those reasons were.

Peter was used as one in Matthew 16 he was forgiven of his blasphemy against the Son of man, Jesus it will not be forgiven against the unseen Holy Father the one with power to forgive or rebuke

The dust of that statue blew away on the winds and is no more to be found. Since then, Christ's "stone" kingdom has never stopped growing, and will eventually fill the world with its effects.

The buying and selling has nothing to do with temporal dying worldly goods.it's not the temporal healing in mind in Revelation where it speaks of a mark. Those that healings seen the temporal represent the gospel unseen work of God's healing Spirit the promise goes beyond what we can see living in a dying body a living hope the promise of a new incorruptible body the end of our new born again faith .receiving it form the first work of His spirt our first love as a ever lasting experience .the eternal healing.

I think the focus would be on the possibility of God sending a famine for hearing the world and acknowledging it comes from within Christ in us. . . yoked with him . . . empowered by God. we have that power working in us but would never say it is of us.( the abomination of desolation )

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Yes, that WAS a "world-wide" requirement for anyone coming from any other nation to Jerusalem to worship and participate in the sacrificial system. No matter what age, gender, social status or nationality, ALL were required to use the Tyrian shekel copy minted by the Israelites for use in conducting temple transactions of buying or selling. What do you think the money-changers in Christ's days were doing? They were charging a transaction fee for every exchange of foreign currency coming into the temple, and swapping that foreign currency for the required Tyrian shekel coin that was the ONLY acceptable currency allowed by Israel's religious leadership in the temple.

I agree the antichrists (plural) existed in John's day, but John did not spiritualize the antichrist. An antichrist can be either human or spirit. saying it is only a spirit, a deceiving spirit, implies a human can be an antichrist only if they have that deceiving spirit but humans are quite capable of deceiving themselves without the aid of any spirit. The word "only" does not exist in 1 John 4:3. Take care not to add it. Anyone, human or spirit, who denies the Father and the Son, denies Jesus is the Messiah, the anointed one of God, denies he is from God, and denies he came in the flesh is an antichrist.

I can think of one occasion where satan implicitly acknowledged Jesus was the Son of God (Mt. 4:3-6; Lk. 4:3-9). The gospels or Matthew and Luke also report multiple occasions when demons confessed Jesus was the Son of God (Mt. 8:29; Lk. 4:41). Presumably, if satan is telling Jesus to change rocks into bread and jump of the temple so angels will prevent him from being harm, this implies and acknowledgment of Jesus' flesh. Therefore, if satan is reported to have acknowledged Jesus was from God and came in the flesh then there is only his denial of Jesus as God's anointed one that would qualify satan as an antichrist.

Of course, the label "satan" means "adversary," so he was in that sense anti the Christ. Neither d should we think John's specified criteria is exhaustive.

Thanks I would offer Jesus as the Son born of man was born again as the son of God. Jesus born of woman is the firstborn of many born again sons of God.

The origin of "sons of man" same as the use of "daughters of man" in Genesis 6 in the warning not to be unseveml yoked with the those born of God . Two beginning. . as in marvel not that the Son of man Jesus like all of mankind must be born again .

Satan the father of lying apostles sent as false prophets are sent with the oral tradition of dying mankind. The idea to deceive mankind that God is a Jewish man as King of kings . When the veil used to represent the circumcision of Son of man was rent there was no Jewish King of kings sitting in the Holy of Holies

There is no scriptural requirement specifying that the mark was to be used in every nation world wide. "All that dwell upon the earth" who would give homage to the Sea Beast via the mark, as required by the Judean Land Beast, would be doing that in the land ("tes ges") of Israel. "Tes ges" again is the term, which John used quite often to refer to the land of Israel and not to the entire habitable world of the Roman empire (which would have typically used the term "oikoumene" instead of "tes ges").

The Revelation 13 Judean Land Beast of Jerusalem's religious leadership would not have been operating in power in other nations of the whole world, but they did exercise all the power of the Sea Beast directly in the eyesight of that Roman Sea Beast (Revelation 13:12) in Jerusalem's temple - in direct view of the Roman troops garrisoned in the Fortress of Antonia overlooking the temple grounds. The Roman governors authorized the Jewish religious leaders to have a functioning Sanhedrin council and high priesthood in Jerusalem, as long as it answered to Rome's ultimate control and maintained the peace.

Big difference between a "mark" and a "sign". depending on context. A sign is something that gives a message. stop sign, tattoo watch out for falling rocks etc .

A mark is something that holds a sound or a meaning as a base or is something that has meaning It changes one's perspective
