The Vision of Isaiah 2:1-5 Soon to be Fulfilled

The vision of Isaiah 2:1-5 depicts the aftermath of the Battle of Armageddon, when Jesus will have returned to establish the Kingdom of God upon the earth, with the Temple built and Jesus will be reigning as King / Priest on the Throne of David in Jerusalem. The significant remnant of the Jews will be converted and the surrounding nations subjected. These nations will come up to Jerusalem to worship and to learn God’s ways.

Isaiah 2:1–5 (KJV): 1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Events over the years have been happening slowly, but the pace could now be quickening up and we need to be prepared for the return of Jesus. The Temple was destroyed in AD 70, and the Jews were taken into captivity and Jerusalem had been trodden down by the Gentiles for most of the last 2000 years Luke 21:24. But there has been a gradual progress towards the fulfillment of Isaiah 2. There have been many contributing factors, and many milestones. Mentioning a few, there was Theodor Herzl and his advocacy of a Jewish State in 1897, the Balfour Declaration in 1917, the gradual return of the Jews to the Holy Land as prophesied, the formation of the State of Israel 1947-1948, the recapture of Jerusalem in 1967 in fulfillment of the 2300 years of Daniel 8:13-14. We have yet to determine the outcome of the present troubles, and most probably things will settle down for a while, but it is possible that the present troubles and the realignment of nations against Israel will set up and precipitate the events surrounding the Battle of Armageddon.

Blessed is he that watches and loves the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ who will soon come to establish the Kingdom of God upon the earth as prophesied in Isaiah 2:1-5, Revelation 16:15, 2 Timothy 4:1,6-8.

Kind regards

The Davidic kingdom of priests came with power at Pentecost and reached the known world with the Davidic enthronement in their generation. 1:9 you will be clothed (priest robes) with authority (the message itself is unshakeable). We are the kingdom of priests.

They never thought in terms like you are using.

I would agree. The time of reformation (Hebrews 9)_had come. Therefore restoring the order of Judges. Men and women prophets sent out as apostles with the gospel from all the nations .No longer Jewish men only could celebrate the ceremonial laws. The high wall separating Jewish women from the men and the wall that separated the Jew from the gentiles both fell. Now believers from all nations could gather together and celebrate

Abel the prophet sent as a apostle, first recorded Judge and martyr He was replaced by Seth

Acts 2:15-17King James Versio1 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: (not Jewish flesh only)and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Marking the "generation of the last days" sons of God from all the nations of the world. A gospel explosion, one like never before or ever again .A great tribulation like never before for a Jew that was trusting his flesh a greater Joy for all the nations of the world.

Keep posts short. That way they are clear.

I would like to add a few more perspectives on Isaiah 2:1-5.

I had heard that there was a plaque or inscription of this passage somewhere near the United Nations building. I did a search and there is a very large inscription on a nearby wall, and one very clear picture has the following description: “A 1958 view of the famous biblical ‘swords into plowshares/ploughshares’ quote engraved on steps on First Avenue opposite the new United Nations building in New York, USA in 1948. The quotation is from Isaiah 2:4.”

There is also a bronze statue in the grounds of the UN donated by the USSR in 1959 and the picture that I viewed has the title attached which says “Let Us Beat Swords Into Plowshares”. The statue depicts a swarthy blacksmith beating a sword into a plough.

Perhaps never before in recent history does this depict the failure of the UN to bring about peace and the final cessation of war. The war in Gaza rages on, and Russia is at war with Ukraine.

Another perspective is the context of Isaiah 2:1-5. I suggest that the prophecy was given during the reign of Uzziah, a king noted for his military prowess and skilful instruments of war. The rest of Isaiah chapter 2 prophecies of an earthquake and we need to refer to Amos 1:1 and Zechariah 14:5 to find out that a major earthquake happened during Uzziah’s reign.

Uzziah may have brought peace for a while, but it was not lasting, as Israel and Syria started to invade Judah in Ahaz’s reign and then the Assyrian power started to make inroads into Israel and Judah. It was not until Hezekiah’s time, and Hezekiah’s great trust in God and his intercessory prayer that Isaiah 2:1-5 became typically fulfilled.

I suggest that Isaiah 2:1-5 speaks out clearly against Israel and their present trust in their armaments and warfare, and in this they are like Uzziah. In contrast it will only be when Jesus returns as the Prince of Peace that Isaiah 2:1-4 will be fulfilled. Jesus is the greater fulfilment of all that was typified by the sufferings and exaltation of Hezekiah.

The modern Israel events don’t have anything to do with it; there is no outpoured Spirit doing what Acts 2 says is the outpouring.

Israel’s “warfare has ended / her iniquity is pardoned” is the Gospel in Isaiah from long ago. It should have been a relief to Israel to know that it no longer had to fight for its life.

Greetings again EarlyActs,

Isaiah 40:1–2 (KJV): 1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. 2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.
These words were spoken by Isaiah in his day in the past tense and they had not been fulfilled in his day. They were not fulfilled in Jesus' day as most of the nation of Israel rejected their Messiah. They will be fulfilled after the return of Jesus to establish His Kingdom when a significant remnant of natural Israel are converted.

Salvation has nothing to do with the dying flesh of any nation.

God who has no needs but satisfies all is not served by powerless mankind. Never did never will .

I think maybe you missed the Gospel about pardoning iniquity, and if you would stop looking at the future for a minute, and learn history, there was a reason for saying 'your warfare is ended'--because they were meant to be missionaries. Simply the gospel looking ahead to John in Matthew 3 . Having nothing to do with the flesh of dying mankind neither Jew nor gentile . whosoever has not the born again spirit of christ do not belong to him

Isaiah 40: 3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Matthew 3:2-4King James Version2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight

This will not be fully accomplished until Isaiah 2:1-5 is fulfilled:
It speaks of the time after the return of Jesus and the Battle of Armageddon and the period leading up to the full establishment of the Kingdom of God upon the earth for the 1000 years. The message of Isaiah 40 will be repeated at that time and the nation of Israel will submit and will accept Jesus as their Messiah.

So the HQ will be on K2, the top of the mountains?

The kingdom is imperative, not a matter of external things to be observed. Christ is enthroned and all on earth must honor him or be smashed as His enemies.

When rightly dividing that parable I would think we look to the eternal city Heavenly Zion not seen and not the temporal corrupted earthly Jerusalem.

The "lasts days" spoken of in isaiah have come . beginning in Matthew 23 .When the Son of man Jesus walked out of the temple made with human hands( Kings in Israel the abomination of desolation) And declared it desolate. "is desolate" not will be years later .No such sign was given to wonder after .. the first century reformation had come destroying all kingdoms of men restoring the order to the prophets sent as apostles called Judges. .

The prophet Jesus declared the powerful words of the Father "is desolate" Hiding the understanding of the parable from the disciples . They desired he re-enter , like. . did Jesus have he eyes closed and miss all the beauty ? In the twinkling of an eye on the high mountain representing all the nations as kingdoms of the world .

Matthew 23 and 24 King James Version Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

One stone upon another , that shall not be thrown down. . . .or one false doctrine like another will not stand. Stones represent the judgment of God

No sign was given .Jesus said it is a evil generation that does seek after one before they can trust God. Believers have prophecy till the end of time

Greetings again EarlyActs and Mr G Lee,
So the HQ will be on K2, the top of the mountains?
I understand that as a result of the earthquake when Jesus returns that the topography of Jerusalem will be altered and this seems to indicate that Mt Zion will be elevated.
Zechariah 14:1–5 (KJV): 1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

To be frank @Mr GLee I have not got a clue concerning most of what you have said in your posts in this thread, and for that matter in most other threads also.

Without parables Christ the Holy Spirit spoke not. Hiding the gospel understanding from faithless mankind .its what arables do teach us how to wlk or understand God acoriding to His faith that works in those born agin from above

I would say not having a clue. That's the result of literalizing the parables the signified understanding it can cause confusion and disorder seeing Christ hides the spiritual understanding from natural unconverted mankind.

Jesus our brother in the lord in that parable declared it is desolate not will be as some sort of future sign. The first century reformation had come the beginning of the last days spoken of in Isaiah began

Jesus our brother in the lord is not returning .His body has returned to dust like all believers died not receiving the new incorruptible body

2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him (the Son of man) no more.

God as Christ is not a Jewish dying man.

I do not see the 21st century specified anywhere in the passage quoted.

  1. How then is it concluded the vision of Isaiah 2:1-5 will soon be fulfilled?
  2. What do you mean by "soon"? Please specify the amount of time that will pass between now and when Isaiah 2:1-5 is fulfilled.
  3. What does the New Testament state about the last days occuring?
  4. What does the New Testament state about people coming to the "mountain of the LORD's house" or "mountain of the LORD"?
  5. What does the New Testament state about God teaching His ways and people walking in His path?
  6. How does God's word define "the nations"?
  7. What does the New Testament state about when God judges the nations?
  8. The book of Revelation states, "Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city..." (Rev. 20:7-8). Gd destroys them with fire from heaven. How is that NOT one nation lifting sword against another?

Please answer the specific questions asked. Please do not answer questions not asked until the specific specified questions asked have been answered. Plenty of opportunity to discuss other matters will naturally arise once 1) the questions asked have been answered and 2) you've demonstrated an ability to answer questions asked when asked directly, immediately, and with collaborative good will. :)

Greetings Josheb,
Please answer the specific questions asked. Please do not answer questions not asked until the specific specified questions asked have been answered.
Perhaps you have asked the wrong person if you expect a one line answer to each question, as you have touched upon some of my favourite subjects in your opening questions. I am not sure of what a "Reformed non-denominational" believes, but I have disclosed that I am a Christadelphian, and we have very firm ideas about end time prophecy.
I do not see the 21st century specified anywhere in the passage quoted.
  1. How then is it concluded the vision of Isaiah 2:1-5 will soon be fulfilled?
I consider that there are a number of factors involved here, all contributing to this conclusion. The first is the various prophecies of the last days and some of the detail necessitates that these prophecies are close to fulfilment. For example Ezekiel 38 speaks of a northern invader into the Land of Israel, some time after the Jews had returned to their Land, not at some far distant future.

When the Millerites were gathered, there were three groups. William Miller believed that the faithful would be taken to heaven and the earth burnt and desolate and this is more or less what the SDAs now believe. There were others who believed that the Kingdom of God would be upon the earth comprised only of the faithful, while another group believed in the return of the Jews to their Land and their conversion at the return of Jesus and that they would become the first mortal nation in the Kingdom of God upon the earth, similar to the clear teaching of Isaiah 2:1-5 and Micah 4:1-8.

The Christadelphian major pioneer, John Thomas, wrote the following in his book Elpis Israel (The Hope of Israel) in 1850, page 441:

"There is, then, a partial and primary restoration of Jews before the manifestation, which is to serve as the nucleus, or basis, of future operations in the restoration of the rest of the tribes after he has appeared in the kingdom. The pre-adventual colonization of Palestine will be on purely political principles; and the Jewish colonists will return in unbelief of the Messiahship of Jesus, and of the truth as it is in him. They will emigrate thither as agriculturists and traders, in the hope of ultimately establishing their commonwealth, but more immediately of getting rich in silver and gold by commerce with India, and in cattle and goods by their industry at home under the efficient protection of the British power. And this their expectation will not be deceived; for, before Gogue invades their country, it is described by the prophet, as “a land of unwalled villages, whose inhabitants are at rest, and dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates; and possessed of silver and gold, cattle and goods, dwelling in the midst of the land” Ezekiel 38:11-13. Now any person acquainted with the present insecure condition of Palestine under the Ottoman dominion must be satisfied from the testimony, that some other power friendly to Israel must then have become paramount over the land, which is able to guarantee protection to them, and to put the surrounding tribes in fear.* This is all that is needed, namely, security for life and property, and Palestine would be as eligible for Jewish emigration as the United States have proved for the Gentiles.
But to what part of the world shall we look for a power whose interests will make it willing, as it is able, to plant the ensign of civilization upon the mountains of Israel? The reader will, doubtless, anticipate my reply from what has gone before. I know not whether the men, who at present contrive the foreign policy of Britain, entertain the idea of assuming the sovereignty of the Holy Land, and of promoting its colonization by the Jews; their present intentions, however, are of no importance one way or the other, because they will be compelled, by events soon to happen, to do what, under existing circumstances, heaven and earth combined could not move them to attempt. The present decisions of “statesmen” are destitute of stability. A shooting star in the political firmament is sufficient to disturb all the forces of their system; and to stultify all the theories of their political astronomy. The finger of God has indicated a course to be pursued by Britain which cannot be evaded, and which her counsellors will not only be willing, but eager, to adopt when the crisis comes upon them."

Since then, there has been the establishment of the nation of Israel in 1948 and the recapture of Jerusalem in 1967. One feature of his exposition is that he identified Russia as the King from the north of Ezekiel 38. In recent years Russia has been on the move, and the present hostilities in Gaza could well be preparing events for the future invasion by Russia as the King from the North of Ezekiel 38 and the King of the North of Daniel 11:40.

As well as the above, most of the many time periods of Daniel have been fulfilled including the 2300 years of Daniel 8:13-14 from BC 334-333 to AD 1967 when the Jews reconquered Jerusalem. There are very few if any of the time periods left to be fulfilled, and my recent special interest has been the three time periods of Daniel 12. I will not elucidate.

I consider one feature of prophecy, is that each generation believes that the return of Jesus will be in their own lifetime. I consider this is specially designed by God, and those that accept the premillennial view are thus ready at any time for the return of Jesus. Even if they die before the realisation of their hope, their next waking moment will be at the resurrection at the return of Jesus (no immortal souls). I feel very strongly about this situation, as I have lived both the 70 and 80 years mentioned in Psalm 90. If I live a few more years and then die, my next waking moment will be at the return of Jesus.

I was hospitalised in January of this year, and I needed to be resuscitated very early during my stay and then spent the next six weeks in hospital, and was released on my 80th birthday, now 4 months ago. One of my problems has only been healed in the last week. Either way, the return of Jesus will be near for me.

There are many other prophecies that I could mention that indicate that the time is near, but time evades me for today and not sure if I will satisfy your questions in this and the Psalm 72 thread. Possibly I will wait for your response to what I have written above. Saturday and Sunday is our annual special study weekend with a visiting speaker.

Kind regards
Trevor

When the Millerites were gathered, there were three groups. William Miller believed that the faithful would be taken to heaven and the earth burnt and desolate and this is more or less what the SDAs now believe. There were others who believed that the Kingdom of God would be upon the earth comprised only of the faithful, while another group believed in the return of the Jews to their Land and their conversion at the return of Jesus and that they would become the first mortal nation in the Kingdom of God upon the earth, similar to the clear teaching of Isaiah 2:1-5 and Micah 4:1-8.
Remember not all Israel is not born agin Israel and in the same way a Jew is not one outward according to dying flesh and blood but one inwardly born again by the Spirit of Christ

In that way the temporal historical must be mixed together with the unseen eternal word in order to give us the gospel understanding hid in parables.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

One thing we do know when we receive the new bodies the thing of this present dying world will never come to mind as if it was never here to begin with .

The dead know nothing .Now is the time we can offer god works empowered by Christ .

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Greetings Josheb,

Perhaps you have asked the wrong person if you expect a one line answer to each question, as you have touched upon some of my favourite subjects in your opening questions.....................
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

Perhaps my posts should be ignored if the questions asked are not going to be answered concisely.
