The Battle of Armageddon

Babylon in Revelation is at the head of and pushing a religious system. It will get to the point that Satan says NO MORE!! He will see this Babylon destroyed, and will call for all the Earth to worship him and him alone. So it isn't a political problem, but a religious one. Satan will not stand any worship other than himself, so once his purposes are met with this Babylon, he will see it destroyed.
Satan is the god of this world .

Babylon kingdoms of men. Kings, fathers. Venerable puffed up men that lord it over the faith of the non venerable understanding.

God is not served by dying hand as the will of mankind .Kings in Israel the abomination of desolation

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The wrath of God is at the head. God creating evil, on the other hand bringing the peace of the gospel. His word is the power of life and death

At the time of the first century reformation when the veil was rent .There was no Jewish King of kings siting in the Holy Place . Satan the god of this world system could no longer deceive all the nations of the world that God is a Jewish man

Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

He will be loosed for a short time again to deceive the nations God is a Jewish man (the abomination of desolation)

The abomination of desolation will be a repeat of the original (in a way) which was when some greek king built an altar to Zeus in the Holy of Holies, and sacrificed pigs in the Holy of Holies, in the place where the Ark of the Covenant was housed. The very place that held the presence of God, as it was in the tabernacle. That was the original abomination of desolation, and the Romans *almost* repeated it.

I would offer it has nothing to do with the Greeks they followed after the faithless Jews and put their own spin .

When the veil was rent there was no Jewish King of kings sitting in the Holy of holies (the abomination of desolation ) The abomination of desolation. Kings in Israel (human form in the place of our unseen eternal God) .

Many forms of the abomination of desolations as false prophecy (oral traditions of dying mankind.that make the living word of God to no efect so that dying mankind could venerate dying flesh.

Catholicism has 3500 and rising disembodied workers with a earthly familiar spirit gods .

God moved his aspotle Josiah in order to making the abomination of desolation to no effect with the power of living word (sola scriptura)

2 Kings 23:24-25 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord. And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.

Josiah protecting the faith of Christ as it is written received a higher honor of Kings even above David .God's first chove

According to the description in Revelation, MYSTERY Babylon is much more than just a religious system. It is a literal place. It is literally an economic powerhouse. It has a massive sea port. It is a destination where people come to entertain themselves with all things sinful. The sailors and captains of ships literally watch it get completely obliterated from above. In short, it is a literal place on earth.

Yes it is a place. It may be Babylon, considering Saddam Hussein worked on rebuilding it already. (Back in the 1980s I believe.) He believed that he was Nebuchadnezzar reborn. (Crazy guy.)

Babylon was Jerusalem--the place where our Lord was crucified. The term used for her as a harlot is specifically a Levitical wife in adultery. She was in adultery by seeking a kingdom out of that city over the world, instead of the absolutely clear mission of Messiah after the Gospel event. She is stoned by 100 lb stones, the catapultae of the Roman army, to bust down her walls, but also to build upon the treatment of an adulterous wife.

Again, such error. Sigh.

You've given a spot-on description of Babylon / faithless Old Jerusalem / the Mother of harlots.

Another phase of the punishment for Babylon / adulterous Old Jerusalem / the Mother of harlots was that she was to be burned with fire (Revelation 18:8 - "...and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.") Being burned with fire was the judgment of a priest's daughter who committed prostitution back in the OT (Leviticus 21:9 - "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.").

Old Jerusalem had once again become a harlot, similar to her case back in Isaiah 1:21 ("How is the faithful city become an harlot!") Jerusalem suffered these punishments of being burned and stoned in the AD 66-70 period as a recompense for her spiritually adulterous relationships with other nations and her rejection of her prophesied Messiah.

The actual verse says this: the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. Rev 11:8. You are making stuff totally up and adding to the Bible. There is a pretty serious warning about doing that.

Our Lord was crucified at Jerusalem. This is hardly "making stuff up". Mystery Babylon was called "that great city". The "great city" was where our Lord was crucified. Which was Jerusalem.

The prophets of Jerusalem God compared to Sodom in Jeremiah 23:14. "I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah."

John was merely repeating in Revelation God's OT comparison of Jerusalem to Sodom from the book of Jeremiah.

Satan is the god of this world .
Got scripture for that?

John 12:31
Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

John 16:8-11
And he, when he comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Cast out and judged. What kind of "god" is that?

If you're referring to 2 Corinthians 4:4....

2 Corinthians 4:3-4
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

What makes you think Paul's "the god of this world" is Satan?

John 12:37-41 ESV
Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him, so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said, “He [God] has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.” Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him.

It is God who blinds the unbelieving, not Satan. Satan is just as blind as the rest of them! John cited Isaiah. Let's see what Isaiah said.

Isaiah 6:8-10
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I. Send me!" He said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on listening, but do not perceive; Keep on looking, but do not understand.' "Render the hearts of this people insensitive, their ears dull, and their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and return and be healed."

Their hearts were rendered insensitive, their ears dull, or deaf, and teir eyes din, or blind. Why? Because otherwise they would hear, see, return and be healed. They were blinded so they would NOT be healed!!! Sounds harsh, doesn't it. Not as harsh as centuries of breaking promises and disrespecting the only God who has ever existed. This Isaiah text is used in every single gospel, in acts, and in the epistles. It is used by Jesus in different ways but in Mark he explains this:

Mark 4:10-12 ESV
And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables. And he said to them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, so that “they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven.”

The keys to the kingdom have to given before the eyes can see and the ears understand, and any repentance and healing occur. Parables were used so they would NOT perceive and understand.

Romans 11:7-10
What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened, as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.” And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and bend their backs forever.”

That Romans 11 passage is specifically written about Israel. The 2 Corinthians 4:4 text can be understood as applicable to everyone outside of Christ. Isaiah, Jesus, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Paull all plainly state God blinds people, or otherwise keeps them from seeing and He does so to keep them from repenting and being healed. Yes, I know many Christian leaders have taught 2 Corinthians 4:4 is about Satan and they've been teaching that for centuries. Satan was once an elohim, a god made by God, but the fact of scripture is he was stripped of ALL his glory, cast out of heaven and has been heled in eternal bonds of darkness awaiting his judgment (Jude 1). He was NOT given the earth. No place does scripture state Adam surrendered the earth to Satan when Adam disobeyed God. That is a myth. Sin enslaves and kills. The wages of sin is death. Lucifer sinned. The moment he did so he died and became enslaved.

Satan is not god of anything.

Yep. And that kingdom has been established with the resurrection of the Son of God.

Acts 2:29-32 ESV
Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.

David foresaw the resurrection of Christ. David spoke about the resurrection of Christ. Jesus' body did not see decay; he defeated death!!! His throne is eternal! It shall never be destroyed. The eternal throne God promised David is the resurrection. If Christians acted in a manner consistent with the truth of scripture this world would look a lot less like Satan is still in charge.

Revelation 3:21
The one who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat with my Father on His throne.

Jesus is seated on his Father's throne at his Father's right hand.

Overcome!

Mixing up two totally different concepts. Jerusalem is NEVER called Babylon. Never.

To what then do the six mentions of Babylon in Revelation refer?

Why is there a need for a new Jerusalem?

What do the other mentions of Babylon in the Bible refer to? As with many subjects, most people have absolutely no clue what Babylon is all about.

You are totally missing the point.

If (A) is equal to (B), and (B) is equal to (C), then (A) is equal to (C) also.

If (A) Mystery Babylon is called "that great city" in Revelation 17:18, and (B) "the great city" in Revelation 11:8 is said to be (C) where our Lord was crucified, which we all know was the city of Jerusalem, then (A) Mystery Babylon is equal to (C) Jerusalem also.

That is not an answer to either of the two questions asked. So I will ask them again?
To what then do the six mentions of Babylon in Revelation refer?

Why is there a need for a new Jerusalem?
Please answer the questions asked. Thanks
