The Battle of Armageddon

John made it clear in Rev. 17:18 that the woman Mystery Babylon was "that great city" - the very same "the great city... where also our Lord was crucified" in Rev. 11:8.

Christ was not crucified in Rome. That means Mystery Babylon "the great city" was Old Jerusalem, whom Christ had already accused of the blood guilt of the prophets and servants of God, and of all slain upon the earth from Abel to Zechariah. Old Jerusalem was drunk with the blood of the prophets and those sent unto her throughout the ages, long before the city of Rome developed on the Tiber River. This persecution and murder of the prophets was such a prevalent problem with Jerusalem that Christ had once said in Luke 13:33, "It is impossible that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem".

Your have an obsession with all things RCC. It's like the saying goes, "If you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail." While guilty of many sins in past history, the RCC is not the fulfillment of everything prophetic.
This has nothing about to do about Mystery Babylon in Revelation 11, read it carefully...

I have. Many times. "The great city...where also our Lord was crucified" is without doubt the old city of Jerusalem in Revelation 11:8.

"That great city" is again referenced in Revelation 17:18. John was referring back to the very same city in Rev. 11:8.

If "the great city" is Jerusalem, and Mystery Babylon is called "that great city", then Mystery Babylon is Jerusalem. In other words, if A=B, and B=C, then A=C also.

Particularly since Mystery Babylon was accused of being drunk with the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus, and had the blood guilt of the prophets and the saints and all that were slain upon the earth including apostles and prophets up to that point (Rev. 17:6 and 18:20 & 24). Christ had accused Jerusalem of this same crime during His earthly ministry, with Jerusalem killing all those servants of God which had been sent unto her (Matt. 24:37).

I would offer mysteries are made know in parables.

According to the passage of the two witnesses itas one has encountered great opposition. Those who tried to kill them, "Law and prophet's" or "Moses and Elisha" were consumed by flames the fiery judgement of the word of God (Revelation 11;5.)
They brought curses on the earth and caused droughts a famine for hearing the gospel and other disasters( Relation 11:6)it was all happening while they are prophesying on God's behalf. . . bringing a message that the world does not want to hear. The two witnesses that one God has spoken. signified by Moses and Elias. . . . . or the law and prophets (sola scriptura)

I would think it has nothing to do with the literal land. No sign was given for mankind to wonder, wonder after. We have the book of prophecy the perfect sealed with 7 seals til the end of time . I would think no prophecy is missing.Revelation remain the last chapter of the book of prophecy ..

Mystery Babylon began when the people rebelled even after God destroyed everything with the Flood. It rose up at the Tower of Babel, the site of ancient Babylon, which they built in direct defiance to God. They built if for their own glory and to ostensibly stop God from destroying them with another flood even though He has promised not to, so God confused their languages. Still Babylon and the system of rebellion against God is this system that it is depicted, and its gotten passed on and spread and we see this 'spiritual Babylon' picked up by Rome. This is what has continued to this day and will go on to the end..

This is the wrong definition of Mystery Babylon, according to John. You are simply putting your own spin on what you consider Mystery Babylon to be, and it is not according to John's definition, as given to him by the interpreting angel. Mystery Babylon was not a so-called "system of rebellion against God". It was defined as being a literal city; one which had killed the apostles and prophets and servants of God. Christ during His earthly ministry said this was true of Old Jerusalem.

God destroyed that city of Old Jerusalem down to the ground in those "days of vengeance" of the AD 70 period. The angel illustrated its total destruction by throwing a great stone into the sea, comparing this to the destruction of "that great city Babylon" which would be "found no more at all". This elimination of Old Jerusalem doesn't give you liberty to dredge up Mystery Babylon out of the sea and connect it to the RCC.

Mysteries are made known through parable. Without mysteries Christ spoke not

That what some call old Jerusalem which means city of bread it represent our heavenly city Zion from where we get of daily bread. or help .

Cites main focus always has to with residence not location .God is the Father of all the nations the whole world .

The sea is simply the judgment of false prophets, false apostles (antichrists) .

Revelation 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of "the beast that carrieth her", which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

How does the beast that carry her?

The mystery of the woman represents all of the false prophets bring false prophecy as oral traditons of dying mankind

I believe you are mixing up the name of Bethlehem ("house of bread") with the name of Jerusalem, which means "city of peace". That is the very reason why John gave us the vision of the angel "with violence" throwing down that great city Babylon into the sea. Mystery Babylon / Jerusalem as the "city of peace" would end in violence, with even her own people participating in that very destruction.

This is why the Apostle Paul warned against those saying "Peace and safety", because there would be no escape from Jerusalem's "sudden destruction" with its final, violent overthrow. The believers of Paul's day were not in darkness, so that violent overthrow of Jerusalem would not overtake them as a thief (1 Thess. 5:1-4). They would have fled Judea and Jerusalem and run for the mountains in AD 66 in obedience to Christ's warning in Luke 21:20-22, thereby escaping all those plagues which descended upon Old Jerusalem during those "days of vengeance".

Zechariah prophesied about this AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem in Zechariah 12:3. In this "siege both against Judah and Jerusalem", God would make Jerusalem "a burdensome stone for all people". Everyone who burdened themselves with Old Jerusalem would be cut in pieces. This is the same "great stone" of that great city Babylon which the angel threw into the sea in Revelation 18:21, so that it would be "found no more at all".

The purpose of Revelation was not to cloak the language with obscurity so that no one could understand what John wrote. The purpose was to "SHOW unto His servants things which must SHORTLY come to pass". This book was understood by the wise servants of God in those first-century days. None of the wicked understood it, but the wise did understand it, just as Daniel had foretold in Daniel 12:10. By the end of all those things Daniel prophesied, the power of the holy people was shattered by the close of AD 70.

Thanks I would offer

Luke 2:3-5King James Version And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

“Bethlehem” means exactly that. The name Bethlehem is Hebrew and comes from bêth (house) and lehem (bread).

It is used in a parable below to help give us the spiritual understand of another parable in John 6. Eat my flesh drink my blood .

Picture of God pouring out His Holy Spirit on dying flesh in jeapordy of his own Spirit life

God giving a thirst for hearing the gospel to David imprisoned ,Sent three messengers, three used to denote the end of the matter .They drew water from the living well (John 4:11) the gospel. in Bethlehem the city of bread . Using both water and blood to signify the pouring out His Spirit life on dying flesh, again in jeapordy of his own Spirit of life.

2 Samuel 23:16-17 King James Version16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord. And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

Hi thanks .I would offer remember be careful "how" we hear "who" we say we hear. Some say we must hear men .

We are informed without parables Christ the Holy Spirit spoke not . In that way he defines what a "parable" is and what "it" is designed to teach us.

The mystery. .Without parables the Holy Spirit spoke not.

I believe it would require we search for the understanding as for silver of gold . Sort of like the parable of the pearl. The whole cost of salvation. Pearls are used to represent the spiritual understanding call hidden manna in Rev 2:17 The color of pearl just like the gates for entering into sweet fellowship the unseen will taste like honey.

In that way parables do not change the simplicity of the gospel More of a richer flavor I would think. Scary to those the understanding is hid from . From my experiences many shy away ? Perhaps in fear of false prophecy? Not understanding it is prophecy .the signified tongue of God. Signified taking the temporal dying things seen to (creation) give us the spiritual or gospel understanding the eternal things of God

The other origin you offered to the mysteries is Catholicism mysticism, passed on from the Pharisee with Sadducees .They as oral tradition of dying mankind "stay unsolved mysteries" or wonders .Like the doctrine of Limbo wondering, sufferings, wondering never to coming to a end. . salvation.

They that seek after signs to wonder after rather than prophecy simply show they require more than sola scriptura. . . and violate the warning at the end of the living word of God. Not to add or subtract from the perfect . Therefore by their oral tradition as mysteries to wonder after they make all things written in the law and the prophets (sola scriptura) no no effect.

They add there own mysteries as oral traditions of dying mankind. Like that of Peter in John 21 making the word of God without effect just as denying Peter did in Mathew 16 .When he rebuked the Lord God and forbid the Son of man Jesus from doing the will of our invisible head .

Peter given a false vison from Satan. The king of lying signs to wonder after, decided and went to town with a wonder, to wonder after (John would not die) (wondering is not believing as a anchor new born again soul) . Jesus exposed the lying wonders over and over and informs us if every time the Spirit of Christ rebuked a lying wonder (John would not die) and wrote it down that we would need a bigger Planet to hold the volumes upon volumes of lying wonders.

John 21:25 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

One reminder should be enough

No matter how they as doctrines of dying mankind tried .God is simply not adding to the authority of His living word that works in us .

The mysteries of Christ? Without parables he spoke not. He defines what a parable and what they are designed for. .

Parable = compare the literal temporal historical to the unseen eternal things of God . They must be mixed as the whole gospel rest

We are given a valuable study tool needed to rightly divide the parables. The object ..of any bible study .Thy will be done. . . walk by faith the unseen eternal things of God .Not after the temporal dying

2 Corinthians 4:18King James Version18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. . . . . . . (Faith)

Yes, but now you are adding to the word, and I would be very careful when it comes to that...

It was a system of worship that was against God as we see the people that began it at the tower of Babel and it spread from Babylon all the way to Rome and then brought into the church through Papal Rome, and we see it still here today..

That is NOT the definition of Mystery Babylon given by the interpreting angel to John in Revelation. When "that great city" Mystery Babylon was destroyed, never to be found any more at all, the holy apostles and prophets which had been slain rejoiced because God had avenged them on her. It was OLD JERUSALEM which Christ accused of the blood of all the slain from Abel to Zecharias (Matthew 23:34-37).

Hint: there were no "holy apostles" present at the tower of Babel. Neither did Papal Rome slay the holy apostles and prophets, since the RCC came into existence long after the original apostles and prophets were dead in the first century. You can maintain a battle against the false doctrines of the RCC without linking it with Old Jerusalem's identity as Mystery Babylon, you know.

Your timing is off, Hobie, and doesn't match up with the temporal requirements of Revelation in how it defined Mystery Babylon. Old Jerusalem, like that great stone violently thrown into the sea by the angel, is long since gone since AD 70 and will never arise from the depths of the sea again.

From the start after the Flood this was were the rebellion against God rose again with the tower and He scattered them but they spread and it continued..

From the start after the Flood this was were the rebellion against God rose again with the tower and He scattered them but they spread and it continued..
Again, your definition of Mystery Babylon being "rebellion against God" is not the definition which the interpreting angel gave to John in Revelation. You also are adding to scripture, which I know you are aware is not a recommended practice.

Mystery Babylon was called "that great city" - the same as "the great city...where also our Lord was crucified" (Rev. 11:8) which is none other than Old Jerusalem (not the tower of Babel or any other interpretation you might throw at this particular city that the angel spoke about).

The apostles were not slain by orders coming from the Tower of Babel. Mystery Babylon was charged with the blood guilt of the apostles who were sent unto her. When Old Jerusalem was torn down to the last stone, the apostles rejoiced that God had avenged them upon her (Rev. 18:20).

In your zeal to counter the evil doctrines of the RCC that err against scripture, you are mistakenly going overboard in identifying papal Rome and the RCC with "the great city" called Mystery Babylon. Christ already identified which great city was guilty of all that shed blood from Abel to Zacharias, and He said it was Old Jerusalem (Matthew 23:34-38).

Let me ask...what battle is this:

1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh,
And thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;
And the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and ethe women ravished;
And half of the city shall go forth into captivity,
And the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations,
As when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives,
Which is before Jerusalem on the east,
And the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west,
And there shall be a very great valley;

This was included as part of Zechariah 12:1-2's "burden of the word of the Lord for ISRAEL and its "siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem" . This prophesied battle took place in the AD 66-70 period when there were still members of those various tribesand families existing in the land of Israel (Judah, Levi, the family of David, Nathan, and Shimei).

This is ALL ancient history by now. Every bit of it.

The very title of this post is not correct. There was never going to be a battle that would take place at Armageddon. That was only the staging ground where the combatants assembled at the Hill of Megiddo site (Har Megiddo), which was just off the coast from Ptolemais. (Titus and Vespasian and the auxiliary forces from those various other kings gathered there in AD 66.) But the ultimate intended prized target was the city of Jerusalem, which Christ predicted would be torn down to the last stone.

Prophecy is past, present, and future just as Christ Jesus is yesterday, today, and for ever.

This is future:

Behold, the day of the LORD cometh,
And thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;

5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains;
For the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal:
Yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake
Zech. 14:1–5.

- It's the day of the LORD.
- God gathers ALL nations to battle against Israel.
- At the Roman war of AD 70 half the nation of Israel did not go into captivity, the whole nation was destroyed and "the residue of the people were NOT cut off from the city" the whole population was. And not only that, but Rome passed laws to prohibit Jews from returning. It was total, not half.
- The LORD personally comes down and joins Israel in fighting against the ALL nations, this sounds like His Second Coming (Rev. 19:11-15.)
- His feet stands on the Mount of Olives and it cleaves into a valley.
- The mountain removes toward the north and half towards the south. That's never happened.

You need to reconsider.

This is future:

Zech.

No, none of that is future. All of those events were included together within the Zechariah 12-14 prophecy for Israel and Jerusalem. There are some 16 or so conditions included in this Zech. 12-14 prophecy for Israel that were all prophesied to take place "IN THAT DAY" - all of them during the same time period which involved "the siege both against Judah and Jerusalem". And that included the second coming bodily return of the Lord Jesus to the Mount of Olives.

All the nations did come against Jerusalem between that AD 66-70 period. The Roman army was composed of soldiers coming from every nation which Rome had either subdued or had aligned itself with in those days. Josephus listed these auxiliary forces coming from other nations which came to join Titus and Vespasian's Roman legions in Wars 3.4.2.

But more to the point, there were the Zealot armies which came out of "Galilee of the NATIONS" which battled each other in civil strife within the city, each Zealot leader vying with the others for the Messianic role of King of the Jews in the city of Jerusalem. These various competing Galilean Zealot armies were the "NATIONS" which God fought against, and utterly destroyed by the close of AD 70. The nation of Idumea was documented by Josephus as coming to attack Jerusalem in that AD 66-70 period as well.

You are misreading the Zechariah 14:2 verse. It was not half of all Israel that would be taken captive. It was "half of THE CITY" which would go forth into captivity. The rest who were not taken captive died inside the city by plague, starvation, or the sword. These were not "cut off from the city" by leaving it because their dead bodies fell on the mountains of Israel in Jerusalem, just as prophesied for Gog's army, and just as Josephus recorded. He wrote that about 97,000 survivors were taken captive at the end. The rest were slain or had died by then out of the almost 2-3 million which had been besieged within the city since AD 66.

You are also following a mistranslation of the Zechariah 14:4-5 verses. They do NOT describe anyone "fleeing" through a newly-created valley. You need to read this Zechariah 14:4-5 passage in the LXX and similar versions which describe the effect which the earthquake would have on the Mount of Olives at Christ's bodily return. The mountain's crest would break apart in ALL directions - north, south, east and west - and the resulting rock landslide material would fall downhill. "The valley will be blocked up as far as Azal", Zech. 14:4-5 says, just like it did in the days of King Uzziah. This has already happened, as archaeologists have dated the bed of the Kidron Valley to have a deep, top layer of landslide rubble deposited from back in the first century.

Christ left this "calling card", so to speak, in the Kidron Valley, showing that He returned exactly where and when scripture predicted that He would do so, before that first-century generation had passed away.

I repeat, ALL of Zechariah 12-14's prophecy against Judah, Jerusalem, and Israel is ancient history. The so-called "Battle of Armageddon" (which really wasn't going to take place there, but in Jerusalem) has been over and done with for almost two millennia by now.
