Since we're not Christ how in the world would we know who are the non elect?I didnt say we are Christ, but He set an example, dont pray for the salvation of the reprobate, non elect, God isnt going to save them
Thankfully.I didnt say we are Christ,
Jesus came to die for the elect, not the reprobate, which is why he only prayed for the elect.but He set an example, dont pray for the salvation of the reprobate, non elect, God isnt going to save them. Pray for the Salvation of Gods Elect, like Jesus did, them who shall believe Jn 17:20
Okay20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
You have no idea who the elect are.Now you ask, do I pray for my enemies ? Do you mean pray for their Salvation ? It depends if they elect, if by chance they elect, I pray for their salvation, if they not elect, no I dont.
I would hope because you know it does not disagree with Calvinism.I say this as a 5-Point Calvinist...
Why would you assume the world is reprobate, if the world may believe?Context is fine, Jesus didnt pray for the reprobate world
But it is teaching of all people, that is, Jew or gentile, rich or poor, kings etc...
Amen!Since we're not Christ how in the world would we know who are the non elect?
When we were living in unbelief, who would have known we were the 'elect'?
Then Agrippa said to Paul, âDo you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?â Paul replied, âShort time or longâI pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.âBut it is teaching of all people, that is, Jew or gentile, rich or poor, kings etc...
Also, considering Jacob I loved but Easu I hated. We only know He hated Easu because He tells us. Therefore we know he was a reprobate. Then Agrippa said to Paul, âDo you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?â Paul replied, âShort time or longâI pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.â
Acts 26:28â-âŹ29 NIV
Saint Paul didn't disagree with Jesus about praying for the Reprobate; I'd say it's safe to say King Agrippa was Reprobate...
I think this is something @brightfame52 will agree with...
Maybe he knows something we don't know? Why would you assume the world is reprobate, if the world may believe?
Great Calvinist verse.John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Amen! Also, considering Jacob I loved but Easu I hated. We only know He hated Easu because He tells us. Therefore we know he was a reprobate.
God does not tell us who is an elect and who is not. Therefore we should pray for all people. The poor, the rich, the kings, world leaders, etc..etc...
Right.B52, don't let your good Doctrine of Calvinism leave you Hyper...
If the praying is in regard to salvation, which it seems to be 1 Tim 2:4
Yes, I pray for the unsaved; however, we should pray according to the Bible. We can pray for what God has said he will do (e.g. convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment to come); we can also pray for what God tells us to do (witness with holy boldness, according to his word); we can pray for God to fulfil his promises (e.g. for all his beloved elect to come to repentance), etc..I was in a Church where one of the members argued 'it's vain to pray for the unsaved because God has already predestined his own to salvation and no amount of prayer will change that.
The pastor there would add a corrective and say, 'yes, but God uses means, and you might be those means He has ordained'
Do you pray for the unsaved? Why/why not?
Hmm...Then Agrippa said to Paul, âDo you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?â Paul replied, âShort time or longâI pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.â
Acts 26:28â-âŹ29 NIV
Saint Paul didn't disagree with Jesus about praying for the Reprobate; I'd think it's safe to say King Agrippa was Reprobate. Jesus AND Saint Paul agree with the Holy Ghost; the Author of Scripture...

Still does not answer why you assume reprobate, since God knows something we don't.Maybe he knows something we don't know?
...

I'm a bit confused, in post #2, you quoted me and then responded. Then above, in post #36 it looks like you are responding first and then the quote. Am I correct? Why would you assume the world is reprobate, if the world may believe?
Still does not answer why you assume reprobate, since God knows something we don't.
Dont understand you. There was a world Jesus didnt pray for Jn 17:9 thats the reprobate world. On the other hand there is a world that Jesus prayed for Jn 17:9,20 His SheepWhy would you assume the world is reprobate, if the world may believe?
John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
If Agrippa was elect, he will believe, if he wasnt elect, he wont.
Saint Paul didn't disagree with Jesus about not praying for the Reprobate; I'd think it's safe to say King Agrippa was Reprobate. Jesus AND Saint Paul agree with the Holy Ghost; the Author of Scripture...
