Annihilationism is taught in the bible

What kind of condition could be added to death?

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Surely I would think most do not believe in reincarnation and another trial. That would be double jeopardy. like those spoken of in Hebrews 6 .

One demonstration of the Holy Father and Son working .not over and over every time one sins.

Hebrews 6:6 it’s impossible to restore them again to repentance if they fall away, since they are crucifying God’s son all over again, on their own account, and holding him up to contempt.
Just immortal on the condition of God's gift of eternal life, but it doesn't happen until after the resurrection to immortality. Same was with Jesus.

I don't believe Jesus is crucified many times. I believe the writer of Hebrews was just being rhetorical.

See Hebrews 9

26Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

Just one demonstration was promised. If they did not come to saving faith during the first demonstration than a thousand would fall short

That idea interferes with the doctrine of annihilation. people have false hope beyond the grave The same that caused the fall. Surely you will not die look at my beauty and live forever. The anti- gospel false prophecy

Mankind subject to the letter of the law "death " His end is reconked according to Ecclesiastes

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

The dead know nothing thier menroy of the former thing here is gone forever. Now is the time Christ works in those yoked with His love.

Ecclesiastics 9:5-6 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

No communion with the dead. never to rise.

The idea of never dying ( the deceiver "you shall surely not die") after one takes thier last breath it is needed to create limbo or purgatory doctrines needed to support the legion of what must be called patron saints(35500 and rising venerable dying mankind his and hers gods as workers with a familiar spirits

It was passed' on from the unbelieving Jew. Like that of Rachel when she hid the family idols to put a face on the legion when it come up or the people's choice of Kings Saul who also used idol images to put a face of the disembodied worker with familiar spirit gods. His and hers gods in the likeness of dying men .

I would offer hell would be in respect the sufferings in the earthen bodies call death. He was wounded for our transgression and sin not kilned neb to rise That, I believe can be seen by the promised demonstration of the Father and Son . They began what I call the three part promised demonstration, each having a different purpose working as one.

The first gospel promise is found in Genesis 3:15 there the Father striking the Son of man bruising his heel and his heel crushes the head of the serpent, the father of lies .

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

As the witness of two it is repeated in Isaiah 53

Isaiah 53:5-10 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Again the work of two began in the garden of Gethsemane sufferings unto death (not dead never to rise) as a living sacrifice of God pouring out His Holy Spirit on dying mankind in jeopardy of his own Spirit life to show in a parable the work of sufferings he uses sweat as if (metaphor used in parables) was blood . three time jesus looked for support from the apostles three times the father put them to sleep to fulfill the promise of two working as if one.(three is a crowd) The fulfillment that prophecy .then they moved to part two the hill of the skull another purpose representing the same gospel . Then to the tomb the last demonstration of the two working as one.

Luke 22:43-45King James Version43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

There is the first resurrection of the Elect, then afterward is the final resurrection of the sheep and goats. Every little thing is recorded about us to bring us back into being.

Back into being( reincarnated )?Or a new creation as in we do not know what we will be when the new incorruptible is given ? Neither Jew nor gentile, male nor female

Some wont die. But Jesus wasn't speaking to them personally back then with that statement, they all died. He was speaking to his true followers( as a whole) who live to see the tribulation and Armageddon--Some will be brought through and never taste death- Prov 2:21-22, Matt 24:22
The wicked will perish, none who remain under the bondage of sin, will be 'brought through' but will be consumed in the Lake of Fire along with the originator of sin and his evil angels.

The Bible says what will happen to the wicked at the end...

Job 21:30 King James Version (KJV)
"30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath."

Psalm 37:10 King James Version (KJV)
"10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be."

Psalm 37:20 King James Version (KJV)
"20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away."

Psalm 37:28 King James Version (KJV)
"28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off."

Psalm 37:38 King James Version (KJV)
"38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off."

Psalm 73:17-18 King James Version (KJV)
"17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction."

Psalm 92:7 King James Version (KJV)
"7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:"

Psalm 104:35 King James Version (KJV)
"35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise ye the Lord."

Psalm 145:20 King James Version (KJV)
"20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy."

Proverbs 2:22 King James Version (KJV)
"22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it."

Nahum 1:9-10 King James Version (KJV)
"9 What do ye imagine against the Lord? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry."

Malachi 4:1King James Version (KJV)
"4 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch."

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 King James Version (KJV)
"8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"

2 Peter 2:6 King James Version (KJV)
"6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;"

2 Peter 2:9-12 King James Version (KJV)
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

2 Peter 3:7 King James Version (KJV)
"7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

2 Peter 3:9-10 King James Version (KJV)
"9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. "

Revelation 20:9 King James Version (KJV)
"9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them."

Revelation 21:8 King James Version (KJV)
"8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

But Gehenna and Hades are.

Death and destruction (slay or kill) are not annihilation or loss of being.

Nor do olethros and apollumi, as seen in their use in other places throughout the NT, mean annihilation or loss of being.

No, for their immortal spirits remain, as we see the human immortal spirit remaining in 2 Co 5:1-8 (v.8).

No, for their immortal spirits remain, as we see the human immortal spirit remaining in 2 Co 5:1-8 (v.8).
That spirit which is "present with the Lord" at the death of a believer does not apply to the soul / spirit of the wicked. God knows how to reserve the souls of the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished (2 Peter 2:9).

At the "resurrection to damnation", the soul / spirit of the wicked is destroyed by God in the day of judgment - never to rejoin their physical body, which remains in the grave forever to disintegrate into the dust. They "utterly perish in their own corruption" (2 Peter 2:12).

It's a whole lot more clear than that.

All those not predestined for heaven do not go there, no matter what their age.

All those predestined for heaven go there, no matter what their age.
Chuckle, and the theory of "Election" makes its presence know.

That spirit which is "present with the Lord" at the death of a believer does not apply to the soul / spirit of the wicked.
Correct, it simply demonstrates the existence of the immortal human spirit; I.e., the human spirit remaining alive after physical death.

So sorry you think the word of God in Ro 9:11, 11:28, 2 Pe 1:10 is simply "theory."
The Word of God is absolute. A "Theologian's INTERPRETATION" of it is theory. "Interpretations" are like noses - everybody's got one.

Dear All:

See my newest post on “Gathered To His People” - It relates to this current post you are discussing.

The verses speak for themselves.
We either believe them or we don't.
But the chances are that we "believe" somebody else's INTERPRETATION of the Biblical Words. Annihilation is somebody else's interpretation.

Annihilationism (also known as extinctionism or destructionism) is a belief that after the final judgment some human beings will be totally destroyed so as to not exist, or that their consciousness will be extinguished, rather than suffer everlasting torment in hell. Annihilationism is directly related to the doctrine of conditional immortality, the idea that a human soul is not immortal unless it is given eternal life by God.

From my standpoint, death is simply a matter of the soul separating from the body. Then the immortal soul can no longer give life or existence to that body. A person would simply breathe their last breath and the body will stop functioning and shut down altogether. The same operation of the soul to the body happened in Jesus Christ. There is no difference because he has become one of us. Jesus breathed his last breath on the cross. That life or existence is cut-off from his body, but that life or existence is not cut-off from the soul. His soul and body separated, "He was put to death in the body" (1 Peter 3:18) and "he might taste death for everyone" (Hebrews 2:9), the sufferings of the body and death is being ascribed (1 Corinthians 2:8), again, death simply means "the body without the spirit is dead" (James 2:26). Therefore, the Son-Person died in the body only in the sense that his life was withdrawn from the body.

Instant Annihilationism: Some annihilationists believe that once a person dies, his soul instantly ceases to exist and recreated upon resurrection.

The doctrine of the Hypostatic Union teaches the flesh (or the human nature of Christ consist of the whole body, soul and spirit). And that God the Son/the Word, second Person in the Trinity that incarnated is in union to the human nature, specifically the union occurs in the human soul. If Jesus Christ's soul was annihilated (destroyed, cease to exist) upon death, then the hypostatic union was broken. There would be no union for the soul is simply nonexistence. That means God would have to recreate a new soul. Then upon Christ's resurrection, the physical body and the recreated new soul came together, which causes a second incarnation or a second hypostatic union. And Christ's new soul would be a duplicate and not the same as the original one. Because the resurrected Christ, who consists of one person in two natures would not be the same Christ that was crucified.

Gradual Annihilationism: Other annihilationists believe that upon death people go into a state of soul sleep, with no consciousness and activity.

The doctrine of the Hypostatic Union teaches that the two natures of Christ constitute as one person. Since the single person of Christ claimed the attributes of both natures, then both natures acted in unison in the one person. What can be said of the person of Christ must include both human and divine. If Jesus Christ's soul was asleep (a state of unconsciousness, yet still retains existence) upon death, then his soul was inactive during the intermediate state. There would still be a union since the soul is still existing. But the Son-person would not be able to continue in a conscious existence as a human/man since its inactive. So that would divide the person, he was not acting as the God-man, but in accordance with the Divine Nature only. It is a violation of the incarnation to say the human nature of Christ was not acting in union with the Divine Nature in the one person.
