Annihilationism is taught in the bible

Annihilationism (also known as extinctionism or destructionism) is a belief that after the final judgment some human beings will be totally destroyed so as to not exist, or that their consciousness will be extinguished, rather than suffer everlasting torment in hell. Annihilationism is directly related to the doctrine of conditional immortality, the idea that a human soul is not immortal unless it is given eternal life by God.

Atheist claim they could never worship a God who is more evil than any person who lived, by torturing people in Hell for all eternity.

Genesis 2:17
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Genesis 3:3
but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "
God never said they could not examine the fruit.

Genesis 3:4
"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.

The serpent’s doctrine is that there is eternal life in Hell.
Note: The word Hell is nowhere to be found in the original bible text.

Death and destruction (slay or kill) are not annihilation or loss of being.

Nor do olethros and apollumi, as seen in their use in other places throughout the NT, mean annihilation or loss of being.

But Gehenna and Hades are.

Death and destruction (slay or kill) are not annihilation or loss of being.

Nor do olethros and apollumi, as seen in their use in other places throughout the NT, mean annihilation or loss of being.
Gehenna is parabolic for destruction. Christ came speaking in parables.

The Hebrew word Sheol for grave does not translate into the Pagan belief of Hell.

The Hebrew word for pit does not translate into the Pagan belief of Hell.

The Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna) is a place for broken potsherds, and used as a parable to mean destruction. And it does not translate into the Pagan belief of Hell.

Gehenna
Matthew 5:22: "....whoever shall say, 'You fool', shall be guilty enough to go into Gehenna."
Matthew 5:29: "....it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to be thrown into Gehenna."
Matthew 5:30: "....better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into Gehenna."
Matthew 10:28: "....rather fear Him who is able to destroy the soul, both spirit and body in Gehenna."
Matthew 18:9: "It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than with two eyes to be thrown into the Gehenna...."
Matthew 23:15: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you... make one proselyte...twice as much a child of Gehenna as yourselves."
Matthew 23:33, to the Pharisees: "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how shall you escape the sentence of Gehenna?"
Mark 9:43: "It is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into Gehenna into the unquenchable fire."
Mark 9:45: "It is better for you to enter life lame, than having your two feet, to be cast into Gehenna."
Mark 9:47: "It is better for you to enter the Kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into Gehenna."
Luke 12:5: "....fear the One who, after He has killed has authority to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, fear Him."
James 3:6: "And the tongue is a fire,...and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by Gehenna."

Hades
Hades is the name of a Pagan god of the underworld.
The word grave does not translate into the Pagan god name Hades.

The word “Hades is used to replace the word “grave” in these verses.
Matthew 11:23
`And thou, Capernaum, which unto the heaven wast exalted, unto hades shalt be brought down, because if in Sodom had been done the mighty works that were done in thee, it had remained unto this day;

Matthew 16:18
`And I also say to thee, that thou art a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it;

Luke 10:15
`And thou, Capernaum, which unto the heaven wast exalted, unto hades thou shalt be brought down.

Luke 16 is a Gnostic insertion and is not biblical.

Luke 16:23
and in the hades having lifted up his eyes, being in torments, he doth see Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom,

Acts 2:27
because Thou wilt not leave my soul to hades, nor wilt Thou give Thy Kind One to see corruption;

Acts 2:31
having foreseen, he did speak concerning the rising again of the Christ, that his soul was not left to hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

1 Corinthians 15:55
where, O Death, thy sting? where, O Hades, thy victory?'

Revelation 1:18
and he who is living, and I did become dead, and, lo, I am living to the ages of the ages. Amen! and I have the keys of the hades and of the death.

Revelation 6:8
and I saw, and lo, a pale horse, and he who is sitting upon him -- his name is Death, and Hades doth follow with him, and there was given to them authority to kill, (over the fourth part of the land,) with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and by the beasts of the land.

Revelation 20:13
and the sea did give up those dead in it, and the death and the hades did give up the dead in them, and they were judged, each one according to their works;

Revelation 20:14
and the death and the hades were cast to the lake of the fire -- this [is] the second death;

Yahshua never once used the word "Hell." The word Hell was placed there by the translators of the bible. Yahshua used the word "Gehenna." Gehenna: Referring to the Valley of Hinnom, or Gehenna which is the city dump outside the walls of Jerusalem. According to Archaeologist, there is no evidence to support that Gehenna was a place for burning garbage. There was however lots of Potsherds found.

Jeremiah 19:2
and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you...

The Serpent's doctrine is eternal life in Hell.

Ha-des (hadez) [[Greek Haides ]] 1 Greek Myth. a. The home of the dead, beneath the earth. Hades (/ˈheɪdiːz/; Greek: ᾍδης, translit. Háidēs; Ἅιδης, Háidēs), in the ancient Greek religion and myth, is the god of the dead and the king of the underworld, with which his name is synonymous with Hell.

Hell. Germanic origin. Pagan Myth. The word was used to transfer the Pagan concept to Christian theology. For the Judaic-Christian origin of the concept, see Gehenna.

Tar-ta-rus (tartarus) [[ Gr Tartaros ]] Greek. Pagan Myth. An infernal abyss below Hades, where Zeus hurls the rebel Titans, later a place of punishment for the demons and devils. (Mentioned only once in the Bible)

Ha-des (hadez) [[Gr Haides ]] Greek. Pagan Myth. The home of the dead, beneath the earth. b The god of the underworld. 2. Bible: The state or resting place of the dead: The name is used in some modern translations of the New Testament.

She-ol (sheol) [[Heb shaal ]] Hebrew word for grave. A place in the depths of the earth conceived of as place for the dead. Note: In the KJV about half of scriptures are translated as hell, the other half as grave.

Gehenna: Mentioned twelve or thirteen times in the bible. Gehenna: Referring to the Valley of Hinnom, or Gehenna, which is the city dump outside the walls of Jerusalem used for dumping broken pottery.

Topheth is believed to be a location in Jerusalem, in the Valley of Hinnom, where the Canaanites sacrificed children to the god Moloch by burning them alive.

Psalm 31:12
I am forgotten as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery.

Which doesn't make everything he said a parable, including Gehenna.
Matthew 13:34
Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.

Mark 4:34
He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

Matthew 13:34
Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.

Mark 4:34
He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
Not all Jesus' teachings were spoken to crowds.

Matthew 16:28
I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death, but they will see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Mark 9:1
And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death, but they will see the kingdom of God come with power."

Luke 9:27
I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death, but they will see the kingdom of God."

John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

Matthew 10:28
And do not fear them which can kill the body, but are not able to kill the (soul / spirit): but rather fear him which is able to destroy both (soul / spirit) and body in (hell / Gehenna.)
A soul consist of both body and spirit.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.

Job 27:8
For what hope have the godless when they are cut off, when God takes away their life?

The Serpent's doctrine is that there is eternal life in Hell, and that God is a liar, and that people will not surly die.
Some wont die. But Jesus wasn't speaking to them personally back then with that statement, they all died. He was speaking to his true followers( as a whole) who live to see the tribulation and Armageddon--Some will be brought through and never taste death- Prov 2:21-22, Matt 24:22

Annihilationism is taught in the bible
Chuckle!! Here we go with the "Word Games" again!!!

Adam and eve DIED IMMEDIATELY when they sinned. It was a SPIRITUAL DEATH (the only death that really matters).

They subsequently dies PHYSICALLY several hundred years later. We die SPIRITUALLY IMMEDIATELY as soon as we SIN and fall short of God's Glory. God's GRACE allows us to survive physically so that we can become Born Again of the SPirit, and cleaned of our SIN. Most of us won't do that.

Yes, I believe in eternal punishment for the ungodly, but I do not believe in uninterrupted or perpetual torture. Eternal punishment includes the result or aftermath of their complete destruction, if my understanding of the biblical term “destruction” is correct.

What about the idea of “no consciousness, no punishment”? Well, let’s see. The criminal who is electrocuted is conscious of his final end. This is his punishment. The consequence will be eternal. There will be no recall. The end result will be void of consciousness. The ungodly will suffer conscious punishment for a period, as the criminal does, but then annihilated. The electrical switch is not pulled on the criminal over and over. Nor is the instrument of torment applied to the ungodly incessantly. His ultimate end will be destruction, as the scriptures so clearly teach.

Try to understand that when the ungodly realize what they have rejected—the splendor and glories of God, Jesus, and heaven—their anguish will be akin to fire and brimstone. When they perceive they will be separated eternally from these majestic blessings, their misery will be tantamount to burning forever in a lake of fire. This will be their punishment prior to obliteration.

There is one underlying factor in this issue: God is not a merciful God if he delights in torturing the ungodly, consciously and endlessly. This kind of behavior is not the result of mercy and compassion. It is, instead, cruel and brutal. I do not envision my God as possessing this nature.

True, our merciful God, in past history, led Israel to kill countless thousands of their enemies, including young children. But He did not kill them over and over and over, endlessly. Nor will He torture or torment the ungodly endlessly. They will be punished, but then annihilated (destroyed) forever.

Note, please, in closing, that the term “destruction” in our English translations is used in its normal, current-day setting. Consequently, I conclude that destruction refers to a total and complete annihilation. This is how the ungodly's fate is described in scripture. The results—outcome, effect, aftermath—will be endless or eternal.

So wrong! Sinners are conceived dead in sins and trepasses! You sir, sinned in Adam, you federal head!

So wrong again! The lake of fire which IS the second death is the one that matters!

The second death in the lake of fire will be total destruction, a death of destruction, forever gone!

Jesus Christ paid the sin debt for his people, in what manner was this paid? Suffering eternally in hellfire? No, he was put to DEATH, and would have stay there perishing if not from the truth he was sinless,~ death and hell (grave) had NO POWER over him~he was raised from the dead by the power of God, all of those who died in their sins will PERISH forever, never to live again, they WILL perish in the lake of fire which IS the second death ~ just as John said it was.

Proverbs 2:18
For her house leads down to death, and her paths to the death of spirits

This would be the only one that I saw that really could mean spiritual annihilation. The death of spirits is pretty straight forward. If your spirit is dead you don’t exist. But I don’t know. All I know is that Jesus loves us more than is even imaginable. I don’t think he wants a single soul in Hell, annihilated, or whatever. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if he saves everyone after meeting him and feeling his love. I was on the road to self destruction and when he called my name and spoke I realized I am safe and loved more that any human on earth could ever love me.

Jesus is life.

There are a lot of warning of Hell so it must be real. I just don’t know why they changed the words. I mean Gahena(sp) was a trash dump no? And we know of the separation in paradise with the gap or whatever that sinners can’t cross. Abraham’s Bosom.

In regards to "Lake of Fire."
Lake is parabolic of a body of people.
Fire is parabolic of "Judgement."

Revelation 17:15. Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.

Revelation 12:15. Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent.

Revelation 12:16. But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.

Revelation 10:2. He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,

Revelation 10:5. Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven.

Revelation 10:8. Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”

Revelation 13:1. The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

This is a short list of the word FIRE being used to mean JUDGEMENT.

Psalm 78:21
When the LORD heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,

Psalm 79:5
How long, LORD? Will you be angry forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire?

Psalm 89:46
How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?

Psalm 104:4
He makes [winds / spirits] his messengers, flames of fire his servants.

Isaiah 4:4
The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.

Isaiah 66:15
See, the LORD is coming with fire, and his chariots are like a whirlwind; he will bring down his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Isaiah 66:16
For with fire and with his sword the LORD will execute judgment on all people, and many will be those slain by the LORD.

Deuteronomy 32:22. For a fire has been kindled by my wrath,
one that burns to the realm of sheol below.

Amos 7:4
This is what the Sovereign LORD showed me: The Sovereign LORD was calling for judgment by fire; it dried up the great deep and devoured the land.

Hebrews 10:27
but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

2 Peter 3:7
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

The word "fire and lightning" is often used as a parable to mean judgment. In one place the word "coal" means judgment. And where there is smoke there is fire, so the word "smoke" can also be used as a parable to mean judgment.

KJV
Revelation 14:10
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Revelation 14:11
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Revelation 20:10
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 20:14
And death and (hell / grave) were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

If Hell is done away with in the second death, then how can there be anyone to torment?

Chuckle!! Here we go with the "Word Games" again!!!

Actually, we are born in spiritual death, which is why we must be born again into eternal life (Jn 3:3-5).

And you playing it!
That's what we do here. It's just "theology".
So wrong! Sinners are conceived dead in sins and trepasses! You sir, sinned in Adam, you federal head!
Nope, I didn't the Bible is clear that humans die FOR THEIR OWN SINS, and not the sins or their ancestors. I inherited NOTHING from Adam except the SAME HUMAN NATURE that he was created with.
So wrong again! The lake of fire which IS the second death is the one that matters!
Nope - dying physically, while also being dead Spiritually is the serious one. When you die unsaved, the rest just follows.
The second death in the lake of fire will be total destruction, a death of destruction, forever gone!
True - gone forever out of the presence of God. Nothing about "Annihilation", in evidence there.
Jesus Christ paid the sin debt for his people, in what manner was this paid? Suffering eternally in hellfire? No, he was put to DEATH, and would have stay there perishing if not from the truth he was sinless,
True. His Resurrection demonstrates God's ACCEPTANCE of Jesus' blood sacrifice.
all of those who died in their sins will PERISH forever, never to live again, they WILL perish in the lake of fire which IS the second death ~ just as John said it was.
True, where the "Word games" come in, is the definition of "Perish" / "Second death", etc. You're reading "annihilation" into it, but that's only YOUR INTERPRETATION.
