Words matter. The word for murder absolutely exists in the Hebrew language, however, that is not the word used here. To slay is to kill. Kill and murder are not the same thing. To kill has no premeditation, which is a requirement for 1st degree murder. Murder has premeditation. And what did Cain ACTUALLY say to God, according to God Himself in scripture? "Am I my brother's keeper?" God is the one who wrote through Moses what Cain said.

Adding to scripture is the first sign that theology/doctrine has gone off the rails.
