The Roman Catholic Church maintains that the Lord Jesus had appointed Peter to be the general head of the Church upon earth; that Peter established his chair in Rome; and that he had been the general bishop there for 25 years.
The (Protestant) Christian church declares the pope is neither the head of the church nor the successor of Peter, and much of the church claims he is antichrist.
The RCC insists that Christ governs his church by means of a vice regent, that is, the pope, and that this vice regent governs all matters.
There are other establishments and or leaders who other Christians believe are the antichrist. Myself and @David1701 tend towards believing the antichrist is the Pope of Rome. Personally, I'm not 100% convinced, but I lean heavily in that direction. My plan here is to show how the Pope of Rome so much resembles what scripture teaches on the antichrist, so closely in fact it seems it is actually writing on the pope.
@David1701, I hope you don't mind me mentioning you in this? If you are interested, I look forward to what you have to say concerning this.
My prayer on this is, Lord willing, there may be some Catholics who follow along here and reason these things out with God's word. I pray you will come out of her.
