The 2 Natures in Christ

His person is both divine and human, the human in submission to the divine and sometimes not having access to the divine knowledge.
Your limiting his nature to the divine both diminishes the price he paid for redemption and, therefore, his glory therein.

His person is both divine and human, the human in submission to the divine and sometimes not having access to the divine knowledge.
And that has nothing to do with the sin/ evil issue we are discussing.

Your limiting his nature to the divine both diminishes the price he paid for redemption and, therefore, his glory therein.
No I’m not at all as His Divine nature as God the Son did not change . His Person is Divine which is why like the Father He Impeccable and Immutable.

No I’m not at all as His Divine nature as God the Son did not change . His Person is Divine which is why like the Father He Impeccable and Immutable.
The unchangeableness of his divine nature does not alter the fact that the one person Christ was both God and man, keeping in mind that God is spirit, not flesh--one person being both God and man, only the man being able to be seen by the human eye.

God the Son took on humanity forever. It’s permanent.

Are you saying because He is forever the Godman that He is no longer One of the Trinity ?

Hypostatic Union

1.
Jesus is a person. (1 Tim 2:5)

2. Jesus, the Person, has two natures- Divine and human (John 1:1, 14, 1 Timothy 3:16): Divine and human. This is the Hypostatic Union.( Col 2:9, Heb 1:3,2:16)

3. The Communicatio Idiomatum (Communication of the Properties) states that the attributes of His Divine nature and human nature are both ascribed to the one Person of Jesus. So Jesus can exhibit attributes of Divinity (Omnipresence, Omniscience, Omnipotence, . John 2:23, 3:13, 8:58, He was prayed to in Acts 7:59, John 14:13, He was is worshiped Matt 2:2:11, Rev 5:13-14) and at the same time exhibit attributes of His humanity( He was tempted, ate, prayed,wept, grew in wisdom and stature,was anointed,was baptized, the Father was greater, didn’t know the day or the hour of His Return, He cried My God my God why has Thou forsaken Me, He died etc.). The communicatio idiomatum does not mean that any part of the Divine nature was communicated to the human nature.

4. The Man(anthropos) Jesus is what we perceive (if we were there 2000 years ago in Israel) and through the Man we encounter the Divine nature (Jesus knowing all things, is on earth while in heaven, answers prayer, forgiving sins, etc.).

5. The Person of Jesus will always be both Divine and human. (John 1:1,14,20:28, 1 John 5:20, 1 Timothy 2:5) Those who deny this fact are the spirit of antichrist. (1 John 4:1-4,2 John 7)

6. The Divine Nature is within the Trinity.(Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

7. Since the Person of Jesus claims the attributes of Divinity(John 3:13,8:58,Matthew 9:2,12:8), then the Person of Jesus is a member of the Trinity.( John 14-16, Math 28:19)

Anything said of either of Christ's two natures applies to the one Person of Christ, so that is how it is said that Christ died on the cross. The term "hypostatic union" refers to the two natures united in the one Person, so anything said of those two natures in the one Person applies to the whole Person. So we see that the Person of Christ is both God and man. The phrase hypostatic union was adopted by the general council at Chalcedon 451 AD. That council declared that the union of two natures is real (against Arius), not a mere indwelling of God in a man (against Nestorius), with a rational soul (against Apollinaris), and that in Christ’s Divine nature remains unchanged (against Eutyches).

We need to look to the Monothelite Controversy which had to deal with whether there was one or two wills/minds in the person of Christ. The outcome was that there were two; one human and one divine with the human subjected to the divine. The eternal Son of God did not assume a part of a human nature without a mind, without a will, without human activity, but He assumed all the things that were planted in our nature by God.

Now then, to act (or in this case, speak) is the work of a person, but the form or nature is the cause of this action; for each person acts in accord with the form or nature which it has. A difference in causes (natures) produces a difference in effects (actions). Therefore, where there are different natures, there are also different activities. So in the one Person of Christ there are two natural actions, the divine and the human, each of which has its own essential attributes, functions, and actions. Jesus was thirty years old according to His human nature (Luke 3:23); according to His divine nature He could say: "Before Abraham was born, I am" (John 8:58). The question is did both natures know this and communicate it to the Person. The answer is yes because the divine nature with its corresponding divine will willed the human nature to respond in such a fashion in keeping with Christ's office and ministry. In the text regarding Mark 13:32, we have a slightly different situation here. Christ is acting (speaking) from His human nature, but, this time, the divine will does not allow the human will access to this knowledge. For this information is not to be published on earth. Therefore, as man, Christ cannot answer the question.

hope this helps !!!
It helps immensely, anything that I've learned about the Hypostatic Union I've forgotten. I do that a lot, anybody seen my glasses? Oh wait they're on my head.🤣

God the Son took on humanity forever. It’s permanent.

Are you saying because He is forever the Godman that He is no longer One of the Trinity ?
He is forever part of the Trinity in his divinity.

He is forever part of the Trinity in his divinity.
I'm sorry He is forever God and man so you cannot separate them. He is a Divine Person and One of the Trinity.

Are you going to stand before Him and tell Him I'm only worshipping your Divine nature and that you cannot worship His humanity because that is not worthy of your worship ? You cannot separate His Divinity from His humanity. His Person is Divine and Christ is both God and man. Since the Person of Jesus ( The Eternal Son ) claims the attributes of Divinity(John 3:13,8:58,Matthew 9:2,12:8), then the Person of Jesus is One of the Trinity.( John 14-16, Math 28:19)

Given the consistency with which the New Testament attributes both divine and human properties to Jesus, without dividing him into two persons, the two-natures doctrine that developed in the early centuries of the church and was formalized at the Council of Chalcedon (451) should be seen as a necessary entailment of the biblical witness. Christ is a single person with two natures: the divine nature that he shares equally and eternally with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and the human nature that he assumed in his incarnation. These two natures are united in his person without confusion or change but also without division or separation. To emphasize the deity of Christ in no way diminishes his humanity, and to highlight his humanity in no way detracts from his deity. The properties of each nature retain their own integrity even in their union in the singular person of the Son. TGC

The orthodox Christian ‘Creed of Chalcedon’ reads as follows…

We, then, following the holy fathers, all with one consent teach men to confess one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the same perfect in Godhead and also perfect in manhood; truly God and truly man, of a rational soul and body; coessential with the Father according to the Godhead, and consubstantial with us according to the manhood; in all things like unto us, without sin; begotten before all ages of the Father according to the Godhead, and in these latter days, for us and for our salvation, born of the Virgin Mary, the mother of God, according to the manhood; one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, Only-begotten, to be acknowledged in two natures, without confusion, without change, without division, without separation; the distinction of natures being by no means taken away by the union, but rather the property of each nature being preserved, and concurring in one person and one subsistence, not parted or divided into two persons, but one and the same Son, and only begotten, God the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ; as the prophets from the beginning have declared concerning Him, and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself has taught us, and the creed of the holy fathers has handed down to us.

And, the ecumenical Athanasian Creed reads as follows …

“ … We worship one God in trinity and the Trinity in unity, neither confusing the persons nor dividing the divine being. For the Father is one person, the Son is another, and the Spirit is still another. But the deity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one, equal in glory, coeternal in majesty. What the Father is, the Son is, and so is the Holy Spirit. Uncreated is the Father; uncreated is the Son; uncreated is the Spirit. The Father is infinite; the Son is infinite; the Holy Spirit is infinite. Eternal is the Father; eternal is the Son; eternal is the Spirit: And yet there are not three eternal beings, but one who is eternal; as there are not three uncreated and unlimited beings, but one who is uncreated and unlimited. Almighty is the Father; almighty is the Son; almighty is the Spirit: And yet there are not three almighty beings, but one who is almighty. Thus the Father is God; the Son is God; the Holy Spirit is God: And yet there are not three gods, but one God. Thus the Father is Lord; the Son is Lord; the Holy Spirit is Lord: And yet there are not three lords, but one Lord.

“As Christian truth compels us to acknowledge each distinct person as God and Lord, so catholic religion forbids us to say that there are three gods or lords. The Father was neither made nor created nor begotten; the Son was neither made nor created, but was alone begotten of the Father; the Spirit was neither made nor created, but is proceeding from the Father and the Son. Thus there is one Father, not three fathers; one Son, not three sons; one Holy Spirit, not three spirits. And in this Trinity, no one is before or after, greater or less than the other; but all three persons are in themselves, coeternal and coequal; and so we must worship the Trinity in unity and the one God in three persons. Whoever wants to be saved should think thus about the Trinity. It is necessary for eternal salvation that one also faithfully believe that our Lord Jesus Christ became flesh.

“For this is the true faith that we believe and confess: That our Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is both God and man. He is God, begotten before all worlds from the being of the Father, and he is man, born in the world from the being of his mother—existing fully as God, and fully as man with a rational soul and a human body; equal to the Father in divinity, subordinate to the Father in humanity. Although he is God and man, he is not divided, but is one Christ. He is united because God has taken humanity into himself; he does not transform deity into humanity. He is completely one in the unity of his person, without confusing his natures. For as the rational soul and body are one person, so the one Christ is God and man.

“He suffered death for our salvation. He descended into hell and rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. At his coming all people shall rise bodily to give an account of their own deeds. Those who have done good will enter eternal life, those who have done evil will enter eternal fire. This is the catholic (universal) faith. One cannot be saved without believing this firmly and faithfully.”

Hypostatic union (from the Greek: ὑπόστασις hypóstasis, "person, subsistence") is a technical term in Christian theology employed in mainstream Christology to describe the union of Christ's humanity and divinity in one hypostasis, or individual personhood.

And that does not mean that his humanity is absorbed or dissolved into divinity. It remains 100% human, in a hypostatic union with the divinity where the one person is both divine and human.
he does not transform deity into humanity.
Nor does he transform humanity into deity.
He is completely one in the unity of his person,
"Unity" is a uniting of two or more.
without confusing his natures. For as the rational soul and body are one person, so the one Christ is God and man.
Just as the human person is both body and soul in one person, so the person of Christ is both human and divine in the one person. His personhood does not lose his humanity.

God is Dead ~ by ReverendRV * April 24

Matthew 27:50 KJV
; Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Can God die? The famous Philosopher Neitsche said, “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods, simply to appear worthy of it?” ~ But you ask, “How can WE kill God??”. Philosophers have been taking a stab at killing God for years, sooner or later they will deliver a mortal wound. Some Philosophers say “If it is legitimate to argue against the existence of God, then the existence of God is legitimized”. Atheist admit they are arguing against God for a Christian’s sake; but why would they continue to rally against a God when they’re amongst themselves? Isn’t that the epitome of Idolatry?

This might surprise you to hear, but God can die. ~ Have you ever wished someone were dead? Jesus said Hatred is Murder from your heart. Do you Hate God? If you find him contemptible for his actions or inactions, you despise him. You are then Like Neitsche and actually have killed God. Does it cause a little adrenaline to run through your chest at the thought you have broken his chains and cast off his bonds? You felt it; didn’t you? You now know that you delight in Murder. ~ Christians believe that God can die; let me explain. God became a Man in the person of Jesus Christ, and Biblical Death is called Separation from God. Jesus became Sin on the Cross, and the midday sky turned black. The Divine Logos of God was irrevocably united to Jesus; Body and Soul: yet a legal Separation took place, even if there wasn’t an Essential Separation of God and Man in Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ died because of the Hatred of Men. ~ But there is bad news for you; Jesus is the LORD of Resurrection! You’ve Murdered a God who rises from the dead! Does this bother you? When you die, he will be on his Judgement Seat; and you will see that he WAS dead. God sends guilty Sinners to Hell for all eternity; you must be Forgiven or else…

Jesus Christ is the GodMan who lived a Sinless life and pleased God his Father. He came to make an Atonement for Sin, bleeding to death. He was buried for three days but rose from the dead; and is now the Judge of everyone’s destiny. We’re Saved by the Grace through Faith in the Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, without Works lest we boast. Repent of your Sins, Confess Jesus as LORD and find a Bible believing Church. ~ Neitsche was wrong; God does not remain dead. God is comprised of a Trinity; and God never Separated! But because the Logos of God and Jesus of Nazareth became ‘One’, the Biblical definition of Death was met when Jesus died; even for God. The Bodily Resurrection removed the Legal Separation, thus God and Man were in Union again. ~ An angry and Vengeful God is on your trail…

Revelation 1:18 NIV; I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Amen !

Only God is enthroned in Heaven, and he said,

Revelation 1:18 NIV; I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Only God is enthroned in Heaven, and he said,

Revelation 1:18 NIV; I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
It's not an easy Doctrine to accept, because of the Chalcedonian Creed; God and Man are Unmixed in Christ...

Only God is enthroned in Heaven, and he said,

Revelation 1:18 NIV; I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

One thing for sure the 2 natures in Christ stretch our minds and the depths of God. It many ways its mind boggling.

Oh how can it be that my God should die for me !

What amazing love !

1 And can it be that I should gain
An int'rest in the Savior's blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me?

Refrain:
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!

2 'Tis mystery all! Th'Immortal dies!
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine!
'Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more. [Refrain]

3 He left His Father's throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race;
'Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me. [Refrain]

4 Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
Thine eye diffused a quick'ning ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free;
I rose, went forth and followed Thee. [Refrain]

5 No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own. [Refrain]

There might be some who would have a hard time worshiping God and prasing Him with that song.

It's not an easy Doctrine to accept, because of the Chalcedonian Creed; God and Man are Unmixed in Christ...
Impeccable Salvation ~ by ReverendRV * May 26

Hebrews 2:18 ESV
; For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

This verse is speaking of Jesus Christ. Here we learn much about what Temptation is; and what it isn’t. The Bible tells us that Jesus lived a life without Sinning; so automatically we learn that being Tempted is not a Sin in and of itself. You say, “But that’s Jesus, he couldn’t Sin since he’s God.” ~ There is a debate within the Church whether or not Jesus could have Sinned; whether he was Peccable (vulnerable to Sin) or Impeccable (invulnerable to Sin). A reason Christians debate it, is because of the Chalcedonian Creed; it confesses that Jesus is %100 God and %100 Man, but One person; and this Union is achieved without mixing the Natures of God and Man. Since Christ’s nature is unmixed, was his Humanity as Peccable as Adam’s Humanity was? ~ There isn’t enough room here to defend one view over the other, but I will say I believe that Jesus was Peccable like Adam and Eve were; they fell into Sin. Because of this, the whole world also fell with them; we are now even more Peccable than they were. Have you ever told a Lie? See how much easier it is for us to Sin? ~ You object, “Then how in the world did Jesus NOT Sin in his life??”

The devil could say Jesus had an unfair advantage. The Bible tells us Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit more than anyone else. Also, God himself made a Covenant amongst the persons of the Trinity, that he would Save his People. Another reason is because of God’s Sovereign Providence. ~ Wouldn’t you say that this IS fair, because Jesus suppressed the expression of his Divinity in order to live on the level of An Unfallen Adam? Jesus Christ is called the Second Adam for a reason; he is our Second Chance! Sin entered the world through one Man, and death through Sin, and in this way death came to all people because all Sinned. By the Trespass of the first Man, death reigned through that Man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of Grace and the gift of Righteousness rule in life through the second Man! Receive the gift of Righteousness by having Faith in the resurrected Jesus Christ as your Lord God and Savior. Repent of Sin and find a Church that Loves the Bible; one that will teach that your Eternal Security is Impeccable…

Should you be worried that you can lose your Salvation? Yes and no; Christians also debate about this. There are Verses that teach we should beware, but there are Verses that comfort us when it comes to our Eternal Security. I support the Doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints; this is believed by many Evangelicals. It teaches both sides of the coin when it comes to being Secure or not; IE Compatibility. ~ But ultimately I side with Once Saved Always Saved; because like Peccability versus Impeccability, there are other things that tip the scales. Jesus said that he would lose NONE of his people; that’s good enough for me. Your Salvation is Impeccable because your Savior is Impeccable. Confess Christ as Lord and you will be Forgiven of your Sins…

John 3:16 KJV; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
