Looking At T.U.L.I.P. By Calvin

@Carbon & @ReverendRV

Was it an objection?

I had thought you were asking a question along with offering your thoughts upon it in a reasonable manner based on what you knew.

And the post with scriptural links with the comments of truth from it proves that those left behind are still His and thus still saved.

How else can you apply those scriptures to mean? If I am wrongly applying those scriptures, then rightly divide the word of truth about what those scriptural references are talking about as proving it is not what I am saying they are talking about.
My bad. Maybe I should've been more plain.

I said: "But what does it mean that they were not ready? By any reasonable definition I can come up with, it has to do with perfection; therefore, perfection by imputation/identification with Christ, or actual personal perfection. Actual personal perfection can never be good enough, thus, we are talking about the state of salvation and that, by election. If about salvation, then those who are not ready are NOT still saved."

Your assertion posits that some saved go to Heaven immediately upon death/resurrection/translation/whatever, but that some (who were not ready but who are saved) remain on earth or are returned to earth, or something of that nature, but do not occupy the LOF with the unsaved. I'm saying, that, (as I understand it), it is all yes or no, there is no "sort of". I see "saved" as a result of the perfection of Christ imputed to the elect, and the elect alone. None of them 'ready' in the sense that you seemed to take it —as a matter of degrees— but only as Christ being substituted for their imperfections. There is no earned status, but only Christ.

One is not 'sort of' clothed in righteousness. They are, or they are not. There is no threshold from one into the other, nor an overlapping of mathematical sets. Certainly there is no graduated measuring device.

But to your 'proof' passages: Up until 1 Corinthians 3:10-17 I see only the difference between the one (the saved) and the other (the lost). One does this, the other does that. 1 Corinthians is the same up until vss 16 and 17 which speak only of the saved. Still just one or the other, with varying degrees of reward/ punishment.

I see you putting thoughts into Revelation 2:18-25 that are not in the text, but whether they are valid or not, I don't see it applying to your thesis. The same goes for 2 Timothy 2:18-22 & 2 Corinthians 5:7-11; they mention rewards and warnings, but no mention of occupying Earth as opposed to Heaven.

You appear to take Luke 21:33-36 which mentions a snare on them which dwell on the face of the whole earth, as referring to after everyone else has gone to Heaven except the lost and the unfortunate saved. It doesn't say that. Why you include Luke 14:15-24 with that, I don't understand. The fact we should be ready has no bearing, as far as I can see, on whether some will be left on earth, but not altogether condemned to the LOF. Notice too, that you have said they will have their portion with the unbelievers. What is the difference then, between unbeliever and saved? Are you a Universalist that believes that in the end, even unbelievers will not be in the LOF?

I'm seeing nothing in the rest of the verses you mention to assist your thesis either. You give a little synopsis of what they say; whether accurate or not, you don't show how they support your thesis that some will be left behind to live on earth, not included with those in Heaven, but not included with those in Hell, either.

I'm a long way from saying that I know all the details, but I don't see this one detail in Scripture.

I'm a little distracted at the moment, sorry. :)
But would you mind pointing out exactly what verses you are talking about proving a rapture of the church?

Thanks.
Luke 12:40-49 KJV Jesus is warning believers to be ready or else be cut off to have their portions with unbelievers whereby His servants will get stripes per the knowledge they had for not being ready and lesser stripes for the lack of knowledge for not being ready, but stripes they shall get.

John 15:1-8 KJV Jesus warns that when a disciple stops abiding in Him to bear fruit, they can be cut off & cast into the fire; as said fire is that which He will send on the earth per Luke 12:49.

1 Corinthians 3:10-17 KJV Paul warns that every believer needs to take heed what they build on that foundation as it will be judged in that day verse 13 whereby if we defile the temple of God, God will destroy that physical bodies hence physical death per verses 16-17 but the spirit is still saved per verse 15.

Revelation 2:18-25 KJV Jesus is warning one of His 7 churches that if they do not repent of their "fornication", they will be cast into the bed of the coming great tribulation for how God will reward every man according to his work of the flesh on that foundation which is physical death.

2 Timothy 2:18-22 KJV & 2 Corinthians 5:7-11 KJV So from all of this, I see that day of judgment, the BEMA Judgment seat, is when Jesus will judge His House first at the pre great tribulation rapture event, receiving the vessels unto honor that departed from iniquity to the Marriage Supper above & leaving behind unrepentant saints & former believers to die, but their spirits will be with the Lord in heaven to await for their resurrection after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor in His House, vessels of wood & earth but still in His House.

Luke 21:33-36 KJV & Luke 14:15-24 KJV These 2 references also warns how we are to pray for help that we are not overcharged by the cares of this life that the day does not take us unaware for it can be a snare for all that dwells on the earth at the time of the rapture event.

Luke 17:26-37 KJV We are not to even treasure anything on this earth that we would be tempted to go back to get it when He appears as verses 31 & 32 warns us of that.

Luke 14:25-35 KJV When the Bridegroom comes, we need His help to just leave everything and everyone we love behind.

So when we are called to be ready.. this is not looking to us to get ourselves ready, but looking to Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd & Friend, trusting Him to get us ready and willing to go for when the Bridegroom comes.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I'm praying and trusting Him to have me ready and willing to go because I do need His help everyday to forgive my enemies, & to let go.

I have no idea what that means. Please explain?
That rebellious Christians will be put into hell during the Millennial Kingdom reign of Christ and then brought out and restored to fellowship afterwards. It’s a form of purgatory, iow.

Like the word "rapture" BEMA is just a word describing the time when Christ judges His House.

WHAT IS THE ‘BEMA’ SEAT OF CHRIST?

"The ‘Bema’ seat of Christ occurs at the time immediately following the translation of the Church (“Rapture”–See 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-52). The place of the Bema seat of Christ is placed in the sphere of the heavenlies."

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Those references do place it in the sphere of the heavenlies ( the upper atmosphere ) where Christ will appear as the Bridegroom and from there, He receives the vessels unto honor and those found in iniquity are denied by Him and thus left behind; the terror of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

So those that get left behind shall die, but their spirits will be with the Lord in Heaven to await for their resurrection after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor in His House, vessels of wood & earth but still in His House, to serve the King of kings on earth.

@preacher4truth @makesends & @Carbon

I am not sure of any scripture attributing to that.

The scripture that designates Christians to hell is from the Greek word "geena" or Gehenna which has been changed by the Lord to mean the valley of slaughter. In this case for believer not ready and left behind, one can see the mirror purpose for what excommunication is to do for the unrepentant believer as Jesus Christ leaves them behind for the destruction of the flesh as the beast will wage war on the saints.

1 Corinthians 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

And the flip side of the coin as a requirement for attending the Marriage Supper in Heaven.

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Jeremiah 7:32Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.

Originally it is a refuse place or a dumping ground outside the City of Jerusalem. In the new heaven and the New Earth, there will be a Gehenna outside the City of New Jerusalem but those are the places for the dead in the world where the worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.

Since in Revelation 8:7 a calamity of fire will burn a third of the earth, which I believe will be the western hemisphere and thus fallen Babylon in Revelation 18 is USA, for how and why you will find dead saints in it as their work will follow them per Revelation 14:13,

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Revelation 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. 21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. 22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; 23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

This tie in with the warning to the church at Thyatira for them to repent or else be cast into the bed of the great tribulation in Revelation 2:18-25. Obviously not every one will repent before the Bridegroom comes.

If anyone has a better site that accurately depicts T.U.L.I.P. better than this one, feel free to share. I do not think there are different variations of Calvin's T.U.L.I.P. but I may be wrong. As it is, there are different variations of Bible versions and anti-KJVOers say not all Bibles are saying the same thing and since there is no regard in keeping the meat of the scripture, I do see why it is possible that Calvin's T.U.L.I.P. may be misrepresented as well.

Five Point TULIP Calvinism Explained

From the link:

T - Stands for Total Depravity

The belief in total depravity takes the view that sinfulness pervades all areas of life and human existence. Through the Fall of Man, humanity is stained by sin in every aspect: heart, emotions, will, mind, and body. This means people cannot independently choose God. They cannot save themselves. God must intervene to save people.

Calvinism insists that God must do all the work, from choosing those who will be saved to sanctifying them throughout their lives until they die and go to heaven. Calvinists cite numerous Scripture verses supporting humanity's fallen and sinful nature, such as Mark 7:21-23, Romans 6:20, and 1 Corinthians 2:14."

End of quote from link

I agree with this part but clarity in application is that although God must do all the work, in the life of the believer, they can hinder His work by sowing to the flesh in reaping corruption. just as heresy is a work of the flesh. which can also include by resorting to their own power in living the Christian life like keeping a commitment or a promise to follow Christ as if they can finish by the flesh and by their will, what was begun with the Spirit.

God will finish His work in those that build wood, stubble, and hay on that foundation that defiles the temple of God for why they will die per verses 16-17 in that day per verse 13, but their spirits are saved per verse 15 of 1 Corinthians 3:10-17 albeit left behind at the pre great tribulation rapture event for that day when they die. They will be resurrected after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor in His House for not departing from iniquity per 2 Timothy 2:19-21 before the Bridegroom had come, thus being damned as vessels of wood & earth to serve the King of kings on earth.

It is not a works salvation because when those are left behind for not being ready, they are still saved for why they are still in His House as God will finish His work even in them that were not ready when the Bridegroom comes.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

This is utter nonsense! You are, apparently without irony, claiming that some saved people will be "vessels unto dishonor" and "damned as vessels of wood and earth". You seriously need to start reading your Bible, because this is some of worst error about the destiny of the saved that I've ever heard.

The virgins (i.e. professing Christians, not outward idolaters/spiritual adulterers) who were not ready had no oil in their lamps (i.e. they did not have the Holy Spirit and were, therefore, NOT SAVED).

Your pre-trib rapture doctrine is also ropy, but I'll leave that for now.

@preacher4truth

Explain the scripture then if I am not rightly dividing the word of truth as Paul gives one example of a former believer and yet even calls them and professing believers to depart from iniquity so they can be "vessels unto honor in His House".

2 Timothy 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

So if former believers and unrepentant professing believers living in sin, do not depart from iniquity, what happens? Former believers would deny Jesus verbally, right? It is written that He would deny them, right? And yet there is another way by how professing believers that confess Him and yet they can deny him in another way like by an iniquity that denies Him.

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

That is why Jesus said to those in Matthew 7:21-23 that He never knew them because as workers of iniquities, their iniquities were denying Him.

Believers seem to think those in Matthew 7:21-23 were never saved but they were doing works in His name, thus it is their iniquities that were denying Him for why He was denying them.

Proof goes back to that chapter about two kids of vessesl in His House in how a former believer that denies Him, He will deny them but yet in verse 13, if they believe not, He is faithful for He still abides even though they are going to be denied by Him & get left behind.

2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
This is why you & I seek the good of other believers by calling them to go before that throne of grace for help to discern the lies that turned them away from Him so they can depart from iniquity before the Bridegroom comes as that "eternal glory" that comes with our salvation is to be that vessel unto honor in His House, by His grace & by His help.
The virgins (i.e. professing Christians, not outward idolaters/spiritual adulterers) who were not ready had no oil in their lamps (i.e. they did not have the Holy Spirit and were, therefore, NOT SAVED).
Matthew 25:1-13 KJV <--- at this link are the scripture but I wish to point out the very first verse.

Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

That means the ten virgins are saved as they are the kingdom of Heaven but the five were foolish because they were out to the market getting filled with oil ( holy Spirit ) when the prudent were filled from the beginning ( since they all are the kingdom of heaven ). The iniquity for why the Bridegroom knew them not, is for being out to the market seeking to be filled with extra oil thus denying Him as in them always since salvation.

Thanks brother.

Honestly, I'm shocked that anyone gave his post a like.
@preacher4truth

I think they were doing it in a polite manner to encourage the discussion to continue rather than appearing to agree with me.

I am sure some like it as agreeing with me, but that may be a trend by a few members here. God only knows.

Perhaps an option for "Thanks for the reply" with a paper icon may be in order for the "Like" button.

As it is, it is on God to cause the increase. This is His ministry as I hope in Him that He is doing in these iron sharpen iron exchanges,

I - Stands for Irresistible Grace

Irresistible grace is the belief that God brings his Elect to salvation through an internal call, which they are powerless to resist. The Holy Spirit supplies grace to them until they repent and are born again.

Calvinists back this doctrine with such verses as Romans 9:16, Philippians 2:12-13, and John 6:28-29. End of quote from Link
Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Would you give me a quick definition of Irresistible grace by you? I'm not so sure you understand the doctrine.

None of those verses talks about the Holy Spirit supplying grace to them until they repent and are born again.
So your a Calvinist but believes man must repent and be born again before God can do His work of grace in regeneration?
Some believers believe the Holy Spirit convicts of sin for how sinners are saved but that is not the truth because the Holy Spirit only convicts of sin on those that do not believe which is the unforgivable sin that the Holy Spirit will convict of.
What, are you claiming the law is not a good evangelistic tool in the hand of the Holy Spirit?
So imagine the Great White Throne Judgment of unbelievers not having the Holy Ghost in them for not believing in Jesus Christ.
What does this have to do with irresistible grace?

Not every believer saved will follow Him as His disciple for why in the parable of the Sower, the 3 that did receive the seed had different growth results.
If someone is a true child of God they will not be lost.

The parable of the soils will not help you here.

Sadly, that's the new Christless Christianity today.

Adrian Rogers said God has a vote, Satan has a vote, and you have the deciding vote.
Do you know what else Satan said?

Lol, after I do some work and spread some influence, people will be stupid enough to believe such. 😈

The iniquity for why the Bridegroom knew them not, is for being out to the market seeking to be filled with extra oil thus denying Him as in them always since salvation.
The parable of the ten virgins is within the context of a series of parables, contrasting saved followers of the Lord, with unsaved ones.

Matt. 24:37-51 (WEB)
37 “As the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
38 For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship,
39 and they didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left;
41 two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left.
42 Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.

45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.
47 Most certainly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.
48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart, ‘My lord is delaying his coming,’
49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,
50 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn’t expect it, and in an hour when he doesn’t know it,
51 and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

Some followers of the Lord are born again, and some are evil. It has always been this way. The evil ones, who are obviously unsaved, will go to hell.

In this context we have...

Matt. 25:1-13 (WEB)
1 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3 Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.
11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12 But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

The Kingdom of Heaven is where professing believers in the Lord are (whether saved or not, because the lost who attend the meetings are dead branches, in amongst the living ones).

Oil is well known to represent the Holy Spirit.

The lamps would be our physical bodies (that which is supposed to contain the oil and from which the light is supposed to shine).

The virgins who had no oil clearly did not have the Holy Spirit, which means that they were unsaved. They professed to belong to the Lord, but had no life in them. Jesus tells these ones that he doesn't know them; but, the Bible says that this is eternal life, to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom he has sent; so, the ones that Jesus did not know, did not have eternal life in them (they were unsaved).

Now now, I heard Greg Laurie preaching this morning and he said God already chose us but we have to choose Him too.
There is truth to it. I.e. once regenerated, we necessarily WILL choose to pursue him, to submit to him, to repent and hold fast to him. (Whether successful in these is a separate issue, of course.) But, yes, our choice is not instrumental in our regeneration.
