Jesus said, this is the work of God, that you believe……

You must be Born Again to see the Kingdom of God...
You mean, what Jesus said in John 3:3? Born again, part of salvation. And do is sanctification.
I'm not very interested in trying to prove the New Birth is part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...
Forgive me brother, but you said it was, I was just curious if you would back it up and show me and how sanctification isn’t.

That’s all.

My belief is that the Gospel and its resulting effect is revealed in 1 Corinthians 1:26-31. And right alongside redemption there is also sanctification (1:30). That we are set apart as His is in itself Good news.
Sanctification is, in your example, a quality that we take on in Christ Jesus. Not a part. The word used is hagiasmos which means "holy" or "hallowed".

30. But by His ( God's ) doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption

IE he ( Christ Jesus ) is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

Scripture Alone ~ by ReverendRV * September 17

Genesis 1:1 KJV
; In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Through Faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”. So God created Man in his own image, in the image of God created him; male and female created he them. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the Garden thou may freely eat; but of the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eat thereof thou shalt surely die. When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, a tree to be desired to make them wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her; and he ate it. At once they saw what they had done, and they realized they were naked. Then they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. ~ For the wages of Sin is Death…

All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. ~ Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him and he began to teach them. He said: "You’ve heard the Commandment that says, 'You must not commit adultery.' but I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, 'Raca,' is answerable to the court. Anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.” ~ For whoever keeps the whole Law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it…

The wages of Sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal Life! ~ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting Life. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory; Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. For by Grace you are Saved through Faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by Works so that no one can boast. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ~ I’ve passed on to you what is most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our Sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. The Lord will rescue us from every evil deed and will bring us safely to his Heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen…

Revelation 22:20-21 KJV; He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Okay do that is part of the gospel. Right??

Im still not seeing it.

Perhaps it’s me brother?

It may also be how we define the gospel.

If I may ask your definition of the gospel?
By reading that Gospel Tract, you will notice the two Verses; IE the first Verse and the Last Verse in the Bible. This Gospel Tract is made out of only Verses. ~ Though every Verse is not in the Gospel Tract, it is saying All Scripture is Good for the Gospel; including every Verse between the first one and the last one. The Verses I use in the Gospel Tract, are enough of the Law and of the Gospel to lead someone to Faith in Christ...

I think we agree then, on what the gospel is.
🙂

All scripture is either law or gospel. The Bible from cover to cover has one central person - Jesus Christ. Therefore, the whole of scripture is the gospel. The gospel teaches about salvation which consists of, Choosing an elect, calling, regenerating, justification, sanctification, glorification. Salvation is of the Lord. All of salvation is monergistic.

Yes, I'm aware of the meaning brother.

I see it more as an imputation and position than just a quality that "we" "take on." Saying we take it on makes the salvation and transformation appear as synergistic in nature IMHO.

English is a bear. And it's my first and only language. I like the way you phrase it better as imputation and position but they are separate is my point.

So you equate predestined with sanctified?
Not sure I understand your question. I’m at work and a bit out of focus. Predestined is God’s decree something that will infallibly happen.
Sanctification is something that will infallibly happen in time with the elect destined to salvation.

You answered your own question then. Predestined cannot be Sanctification. One can be predestined too Salvation. One can be predestined too Sanctification.

Anywho...fun conversation. Love to all in it. Time for me to do some chores.

I just re-read it too. One of it's points is, "I’ve passed on to you what is most important and what had also been passed on to me." ~ The Gospel presentation doesn't have to be everything regarding Salvation, it at least needs to be what is most important...

I think y'all know me pretty good by now. Part of me thinks that some of these questions don't need to be asked, because either y'all already know the answer in your hearts; or because y'all know I'm a good guy. I'm just a different 5-point Calvinist than y'all are used to. Sometimes I feel like I'm defending the truth of a Kindergarten Sunday School Class, to a Seminary class 😉

That's a good way of looking at some of our differences. I still love Kindergarten 😃 Kindergarten is of most importance...

Not sure how we got to that point, but…..🙂

I hope I put up more of a challenge than that.

I did? What was my question?
Look...you aren't old enough yet to be asking that question. :P

Do y'all think we can get a Thread up to crazy numbers like a Seth or Civic Thread over 10,000 Posts? Or do we first need a crazy Seth? 😉 Maybe a JohnnyBgood?
