I personally disagree with much of what @jeremiah1five says, but in this he is spot on, as it precisely agrees with what Jesus had to say about His sheep in John 10, and the logic of it. If it is incorrect, in order for the statement to be valid, the incorrectness must be validated by the one who makes it. So what is incorrect about it and what do you say is the correct view and why?

God's foreknowledge of us is in Himself when He contemplated His elect in His Mind and in Himself. He always saw us as sheep. He contemplated us as sheep. And when we are born into the world, we are sheep to Him even though we know nothing about Him or the Bible of Christianity. But when we are illuminated and enlightened all He does is turn on our knowledge of Him as God and we as His sheep. We are not born into the world as wolves or goats, become Christian and poof! Now we are sheep.
God is regenerating His image in us and we are sheep. We are ordained after "their" (His) kind. He has sons and daughters after "their" (His) kind. That's how He ordained offspring. After their kind. If He is the Shepherd, then we are His sheep. He contemplated us as sheep, we are born into the world as sheep and born-again at the appointed time as sheep. In nature goats do not have offspring and have sheep. Not only is it impossible but it violates His decree in creation.

We need Jesus Christ's work in our lives everyday in countering the works of the flesh and that is how we mortify the deeds of the body by the Spirit when we look to Jesus Christ, the author & finisher of our faith to help us lay aside every weight & sin daily in walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son and that includes heresy which is one of the works of the flesh.
