So you were a Calvinist that wasn't saved and then you were saved and remained a Calvinist until a year ago. What was it specifically that made you change your mind?

And what gave them to trust in Christ? It was not their fallen nature.
They trusted in Christ Jesus because they were elected by God before the foundation of the world. They were called. :)
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

- Romans 8:28-30,33-34 (KJV)

it depends on the definition of T.D. but then I'm not sure I would agree. Take for instance an unsaved Father and Son. Doesn't the son believe/trust that his father has his best interest at heart and looks out for his well being ? Jesus even implies this is the case below.

Matthew 7:11- If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
The main difference, although there are others, is that the unregenerate man is at enmity with God; not only does he not trust him, but he is God's enemy and he hates God.

And on what basis did God elect them?

Just like you were a child of wrath when you followed satan the god of this world( 2 Cor 4:4)

Ephesians 2
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath

Yes, by nature. The fallen nature.

However the elect were never under or the objects of Gods wrath even though they had a nature like those who are, and even though they desrved to be under His wrath, but they have always been vessels of Mercy Rom 9:23

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

A child of wrath serving the god of this world is under Gods condemnation.

That's right: I was, by nature, a child deserving of wrath, just like everyone else.

I agree. Christ's propitiatory sacrifice achieved this.

What I know is I was in a terrible sinful evil state and in an Edinburgh second, He changed me.
An Edinburgh second? Apart from not knowing that expression (and I come from Edinburgh, originally), that was exactly my experience as well.

I invented it for your sake.

I wondered; but I was hoping for something interesting. Oh well...
There is a line in an Eagles song..”In a NY minute”. For some reason, that popped into my head, so I altered the idea.
Both my wife and I have family roots in Scotland.
