The Pope as the Antichrist

Addendum: The New Jerusalem is described as “the holy city” in Revelation 21:2 (compare with Revelation 11:2).

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

- Revelation 21:1-2 (NKJV)

————
"But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

- Revelation 11:2 (NKJV)

Besides where is it even written in scripture that the pope is the successor of Peter? It's not.

Even if Peter had been the head of the church (which he was not), this would have only pertained to himself. I mean, where was it written that he had authority to transfer this office to the bishop of Rome, rather than to the bishop of Antioch?
Peter did visit Antioch (11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. Gal 2:11), but nowhere is it written that he was in Rome.

The whole RC system is corrupt.
The Pope is the spiritual successor of Caesar, so that is all he can pass on.

The Antichrist, when he emerges, will be none other than the old dragon from the garden, and his name is Satan.

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

- Revelation 12:7-9 (NKJV)

The First Seal: The White Horse

Rev 6:1 Then I watched as the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say in a thunderous voice, “Come!”

2 So I looked and saw a white horse, and its rider held a bow. And he was given a crown, and he rode out to overcome and conquer.

Yes indeed. The first seal is the first (fake) white horse and rider. The first seal is deception. This rider is the Antichrist (Satan).

In Revelation 19, we see the true Christ—the King of kings and Lord of lords:

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

How did you come to that conclusion the rider is the antichrist ?

Good morning, Mr. Glee. Do you think the writer of the first white horse is the same as the rider on on the last white horse?

Hi Thanks it would seem the same white horse.

White the purifying water of the word the gospel

Psalm 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Actually, you're missing out on a lot. I really dont want to go down this road again.

I myself used to believe the pope was the antichrist as well. and there is a lot of convincing evidence for it. But being Amil, and as of late, I personally am not so sure about that. I believe the RC system is corrupt, and it sure may be an antichrist system (as there are many) but I am leaning a different direction, but mainly undecided.
If you want an interesting take on permillennialism (it isn't exactly futurist), read the psuedo Ephraim sermon. At most it speaks to the Antichrist's unveiling and the last 3 1/2 years of the 70th week of Daniel. I found it enlightening, as I had not looked at everything in depth. It's just information for consideration. It isn't something futurists would line up behind, though they would find plenty of food for thought. It is a different take, and something they might not fully consider.

White the purifying water of the word the gospel

Psalm 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Here’s my understanding regarding the first seal, which I believe is the Antichrist.

Revelation 6:2 And I saw, and behold, a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

As Christ answers the disciples’ questions in Matthew 24, His very first words relate to the false christs who shall appear as the sign when these things should be (when the Temple should be destroyed), and so it was. Jesus explains further that these are only the prelude to what will mark "the beginning of sorrows." He explains that there will be many false christs, but only one who will say: "I am the Messiah.” ….and this one shall deceive many (Matthew 24:5). The first seal marks the first rising of this false christ (the Antichrist) going forth. Further details of this are given in Revelation 13 where it is said that "it was given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and that there was given to him authority over every tribe and people, and tongue and nation, and all who dwell on the earth shall do homage to him whose names have not been written (in the book of life of the Lamb slain) from the foundation of the world" (Revelation 13:7,8).

The rider on the white horse (in Revelation 6:1, 2) is out to deceive the whole world by pretending to be the true Christ; we read of him that "it was given to him" to wear a crown, and to go forth and overcome. We see in this rider an imitation of the "faithful and true" Messiah when He comes forth on a white horse to really conquer and reign forever and ever. How natural for the false and deceiving Messiah to go forth in a manner that will be most calculated to "deceive many."

Matthew 24:5
For many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them; and power was given him over all kindreds, and tonques, and nations.

Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The Antichrist will rise unnoticed by the world. His beginning premise will be "Peace," but his goal is universal dominion, which he finally achieves. In the book of Daniel, it is said that "his power shall be might, that he shall destroy wonderfully" (Daniel 8:24) and that "he shall stretch forth his hand upon the countries" (Daniel 11:36, 42).

Now here in Revelation 19:11-13, we see our true Messiah:
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Neither do I...... because the Pope does not meet John's stipulated criteria.
Ok. I figured there might be a list like had to come from the revived roman empire...must be such and such nationality etc.

Hi Thanks.

I would offer. I begin a little earlier chapter 23 .There God is condemning the athiest Jews and as a result "Behold" your house is left desolate not will be

No signs were given to wonder after .I believe today a remnant of a wall exist having no value other than a Idol image.

Mathew 23:37-39 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Horses are used in various parables to represent the vehicle of the judgments of God, demonstrating his power.

It is represented by the tribe of Dan.

Genesis 49:16-18Amplified Bible, Classic Edition Dan shall judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel. Dan shall be a serpent by the way, a horned snake in the path, that bites at the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward. (Break neck)

Serpent. . . false apostles bringing false prophecy, which the believers are guarded from they have the perfect God is not bringing any new revelations .

Mark 16:17-18King James Version And these (metaphorical) signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils (false apostles); they shall speak with new tongues(Gospel); They shall take up serpents; (false apostles) and if they drink any deadly thing(false prophecy), it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands (the power of the gospel) on the sick, and they shall recover.

Below flesh other than a horse is used to represent the mighty power of God who moves men

Revelation 19:18 That you may feast on the flesh of rulers, the flesh of generals and captains, the flesh of powerful and mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all humanity, both free and slave, both small and great!

He uses all flesh temporal things seen to give us his eternal spiritual understanding (2 Corinthians 4:18) A valuable tool needed to rightly divide prophecy

2 Corinthians 4:18King James Version18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Red.
. . . the Sufferings of Christ
Black . . . .death
White. . . . the cleansing of new life
Grisled. . . . (black and blue as if made so by bruising) . . . the bruised heel of the Son of man crushing the head of the serpent.

Judgement day.

Zechariah 6:1-6King James Version And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.

Ok. I figured there might be a list like had to come from the revived roman empire...must be such and such nationality etc.
Why was that figured?

The latter Roman Caesars were regarded as "god-men" and had the title of Pontifex Maximus, which title was handed on to the Pope of Rome.
I don't recall Peter ever referring to himself as a Pontifex Maximus "god-man", nor any of the people of his time referring to Peter as a "god-man".
I believe Peter would have been appalled if anyone did.

Again…how does the NT define the Temple of God?
Christ and believers.
No building required.

In fact Jesus had already said:
John 4:21-24 KJV
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

I don't recall Peter ever referring to himself as a Pontifex Maximus "god-man", nor any of the people of his time referring to Peter as a "god-man".
I believe Peter would have been appalled if anyone did.
Yes, and...?

I was posting about the so-called "Pope" of Rome, not about the apostle Peter.
