Is it Jesus?
Or is it the Gospel?

So you are saying both? Jesus and His work on our behalf?
Something like that.

First the bad news....we're all going to hell.

Now the good news....Jesus, the Word who is God stepped out of heaven and was born to the virgin Mary...this Jesus lived a life in full perfection and obedience to the Father....Jesus was then killed on the cross as a substitutional sacrifice where our sins could be imputed to Jesus and His righteousness imputed to us...Jesus died on the cross and was then buried. On the 3rd day His sacrifice was received and Jesus rose from the dead...Jesus then ascended into heaven with the promise of His return.

I'm sure you can add a bit more to it..but in a nutshell....that's the Gospel. The Good news.

Is it Jesus?
Or is it the Gospel?
It is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Galatians 2:16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

Philippians 3:9 and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own which is from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God upon faith,

Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Faith is a living work of two . faith without works shows they was no plan before.

I would offer faith the power to trust it could be likened to my wife and I . As a plan of hers she faithfully sends me her apostle (sent messenger errand boy )with a writen list not to add or subtract from on a adventure to the supermarket Upon retuning the apostles reward .Two peanut butter cookies and a cold glass of milk teaching me she is gracious . the "let there be" work of faith . The Father and the Son and it the work of faith "was very God alone good"

Sends them out two my two . Family by family

Remember, there are many Jesus' running around the landscape. Is He also defined by His works FOR us?...

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Object of our Faith?

Or is it the Gospel?

It has content by which we are saved, 1Cor 15:2

Definition of Object:
1) a material thing that can be seen and touched.
2) a person or thing to which a specified action or feeling is directed.

"The gospel" is not a "material thing" or "person". Thus, either the "object of our Faith" is Jesus who is a person and fits the definition of "object" or ... your list does not contain a correct answer.

Arial alluded to this above.
The gospel is a proclamation not an object.
Guess her answer didn't save me typing after all. *giggle*

Have you seen or touched Jesus?

Ok, let's go with,.."Where should faith be directed at, the Gospel or Jesus?"
For a person to say 'Jesus' can be problematic, Which Jesus? The law giver Jesus? The graceless Jesus? In His work for us (the Gospel),
we see the true Jesus.

This may be a stretch but...

James 2:26 KJV
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works ( Gospel) is dead also.

If it wasn't for the lord Jesus Christ, there would be no gospel.

There is a contingent here who do not understand what it even means to have believed in vain.

The truth is that if we believe the gospel and we accept it as truth and place our trust in God and obey the gospel we will be saved, because the gospel is "the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes". One can believe the gospel and accept it as truth and yet fail, by choice, to put his trust in God and to obey the gospel. That one has believed in vain.

To believe in vain is to have "no faith" as power that coming by hearing the living word .

It would seem you think faith the unseen comes eternal by that seen the temporal .Upside down

The Power of His Salvations as it is written.

To believe in vain is to believe but not respond accordingly.

Peter and Paul both speak of the failure to obey the gospel.

2Th 1:8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

1Pe 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Hi
I would offer. . .

Doubting "waver in opinion" comes before belief ( powerful faith) .

Doubting is not the opposite of faith or power.

Un-belief. . no power is

In that way Christ desires we do not waver long in deciding between two . Its then the accuser of the brethren does his work day and night 24 /7 . You doubted its over .God does not love you

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession (power) of our faith without (doubting) wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, (Christ in us) nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

It is why when he spoke to Nicodenmus the sign and wonder seeker revealing the greatest possible miracle "dying mankind must be born again" Christ lovingly commanded Nicodemus . . to marvel or wonder, wonder not but rather believe prohecy the living abiding word ."it" as it is written. . it removes all doubt .

Satan the king of lying signs to wonder, doubt, wonder after. Deceiving the world God is still bringing new prophecy
