Because my "overlayed presuppositions" do not agree with your overlayed presuppositions, in other words, confirmation bias you dismiss my examples without any legitimate support. Hmmmmm?
Let's not go to those types of posts. "you did it too." But you did learn something from my posts. The term confirmation bias.
I did indeed dismiss without discussion the two examples you gave to illustrate choice. The one of the rich young because I had already done so twice, and the pool because I was at that moment not to waste my time.
And test we know that Jesus loved the man and He called the man. (Mark 10:21) So the man was loved by Jesus and called by Jesus very much like He had called the disciples. But the man went away saddened because he chose his money over the call. (Mark 10:22)
Mark 10:17-27
17
And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” 20 And he said to him,
“Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.” 21
And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him,
“You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22
Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is for the rich[
b] to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God! 26.And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, "Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God."
1. Jesus did not call him.
2. He was counting on his works to save him.
3. "He does not delight in the death of the wicked." It brings Him no pleasure even though He destroys the wicked.
4. Jesus points out dramatically that it is a heart change that saves, not works.
5. This shows that his heart had not been changed. He was trusting in his wealth. He wanted eternal life but not if he had to give up all that he considered his security and status in the community and follow this man Jesus.
Beginning in verse 23, we need a bit of cultural information in order to understand why the disciples were so astonished. Those who were wealthy were considered favored by God, and what Jesus was saying was contrary to that. So they ask "Who then can be saved?"
ANd what does Jesus say? "With man that is impossible---" Man can't do it. He cannot change his heart and cannot trust in Jesus instead of his wealth, in this case. He has banked on it his entire life. (As an aside, it is very similar to those who have all their Christian lives trusting in the fact that they chose Jesus, rather than God choosing them, cannot let go of that no matter what Scripture evidence is given. Fortunately even though it is impossible for them. nothing is impossible with God and He saves His people in spite of that.) For Jesus adds, nothing is impossible with God. He, and only He, can change a heart.
