Matthew 16, what was revealed to Peter

As the Protestants always say: “all glory unto God” rightly so cos God is the source of all grace and blessing!

What a total cop out.

Not legitimately done while engaging in sin.

Is God the source yes or no?

Is God the source when I ask you to pray for me? Or an I worshiping you?

Fundamentalist nonsense

Total dodge of the fact that RC's pray to Mary.

You can stop hiding now, and come out and admit that they do.

As the source of grace no

Jn 1:16-17
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Mary all powerful advocate!
Help of Christian’s!

Mary ever virgin, mother of God, is all powerful in her prayers!

Mary’s prayers are all powerful not cos she is God but because her son is God!

and on becoming man He (Jesus) obeyed his own commandments

you might check out the one that says “honor Thy father and mother”

“My hour has not come”

Jn 2
The time set by almighty God for the public ministry of Christ had not come, Jesus Christ still performed the miracle cos his mother interceded, thus a higher law, “honor thy father and mother” if ANYONE else asked it would NOT have been done! The answer was no! But He honored His mother!

and cos of her intercession the disciples believed in Him!
Jn 2:11

There is another point that Jesus is making when he says: what does it have to do with you and me? My hour hath not yet come. Indicating that when “His hour” does come Mary will have a prominent role to play. See Lk 2:35

What does this have to do with the OP?

And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 16:17.

Exactly what was revealed, and why?

A RC asked my thoughts on this, I believe he was trying to connect, and prove, sacred Tradition here. Does this prove that God still reveals new info to people, namely his church?
I think the fact that the NT was written yet is irrelevant, and in no way ties it to what the Catholic's call sacred tradition. They make Peter the focus and not the revelation.

And the revelation is that Jesus is the Messiah, someone the Jews had been waiting on for centuries. And that the Messiah is the Son of the Living God---God with us iow. And this is the rock upon which His church is built. He is that Rock.

He does not reveal new information. All the information pertinent to His church is revealed in the writings of Acts and the Epistles. The apostles were not building His church until after His death, resurrection, and ascension, because they could not. His work for His church was not finished until then. Then, they (the apostles) laid the foundation of His church, that is, all that it contains as to doctrines. And nothing of the church is built on any other than the one laid. Yes, they did it by word of mouth and letter, and we now have that in our Bible.

God does still appoint preachers and teachers for Christ's church, but they are to maintain a consistency with what is in the Bible. They are not infallible and they are not equal to the word of God. They are to preach and teach from His written word.

Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Not scripture alone? Really?

What teachings?
Even though it was mentioned in connection with the OP the OP is not specifically about all the doctrines of the Catholic church. Stay on topic.
Is the “word of God” after the ascension of Christ limited to scripture alone?
Relate that to the OP.

Our prayers are directed to God thru the intercession of His saints in His church the communion of saints
NT authoritative teaching for the church presents only one Mediator between God and Man--Jesus Christ.

Man has no authority to add to that.

And so, we began to pray to her using several expressions present in the Gospels directed to her: “full of grace”, “blessed are you among women” (cf. CCC, 2676s.).

Yep, RC's pray to Mary.

This is blasphemous.
I am removing his posts that do not pertain to the OP, where the thread is being abused to preach Catholicism and with nothing but a wall of texts. I will do it in every thread he attempts to take over in this manner from now on. Enough is enough.
