Joseph underwent promotion to a rank that was-- for all intents and purposes
--equal to Pharaoh's, i.e. he became the big man's power of attorney.
● Gen 41:39-44 . .You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to
submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.
So Pharaoh said to Joseph: I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
. . .Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph's finger.
He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. He had
him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and men shouted before him;
"Make way!" Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
. . .Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will
lift hand or foot in all Egypt."
In other words; everybody in Egypt, including his family, obeyed Joseph all the
same as they would Pharaoh.
● Gen 44:18 . .Then Judah went up to him and said: "Please, my lord, let your
servant speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, though you
are equal to Pharaoh himself.
* Signet rings in that day were used to make an impression in wax that was the
equivalent of someone's signature. In other words; Joseph was given the power to
sign Pharaoh's name on the dotted line.
So; here's the thing: Arguments whether Jesus is God are futile and only eventuate
in perpetual debating that never gets to the bottom of anything. However, I think
we can all agree that Jesus-- in a manner very similar to Joseph's situation --has
been granted full power of attorney in God's name so that maybe he isn't God, but
he sure enough has been put in a position to rule the world as God.
● Dan 7:13-14 . . In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a
son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days
and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power;
all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an
everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never
be destroyed.
● Phil 2:9-11 . . God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that
is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven
and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is
Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
FAQ: What is "the name" that is above every name? Is it Jesus?
REPLY: The name above all others is Jehovah, a.k.a. Yahweh. (cf. Rev 1:8)
