This Cold Case video on is the Bible reliable, by examining first the gospels with early writings of Paul, to examining forensically why and how the bible is true. This video is brilliant, and I highly recommend it. Please watch it in it's entirety. It starts out slowly, and begins to examine and explain how all forensic evidence and investigations, work. And it explains there are only two types of evidence, direct, and indirect, or circumstantial evidence. And he further in depth explains that circumstantial evidence, without a live witness, or forensic evidence such as DNA, is the best and most reliable evidence. He explains how truly awesome circumstantial evidence is. And the bad reputation circumstantial evidence gets, is only when it is weak and without a lot of evidence. But if you can keep building a case with a lot of good circumstantial evidence, it is then a very strong case indeed.

And it also begins with how he didn't always believe, and with humor says come on, Christianity believes in talking donkeys and talking snakes. And it goes on to explain how police investigations work, etc.., **** But when it finally gets into examining Christianity, from the early date and witnesses from the gospels, etc.., it gets very strong. He and his wife came to believe - And when he finally gets into it, this video transforms into some of the best apologetics you are likely ever to hear. He takes you from doubt, to how his cold case investigations work, and onto becoming a believer, with some of the best evidence for the truth, and early dates forensically and
circumstantially for the Bible and Christianity. It does begin slowly, but when it finally hits the proof for Christianity, Wow. He shows by a cumulative circumstantial evidence investigation, or a death by a thousand papercuts against not believing, to how he proves Christianity is true :)

The video is based on his same cold case Christianity book. The book likewise starts out slow, and a bit boring as well. But when it finally gets into it's evidence for Christianity, wow. So even though it likewise starts out slow, I truly highly recommend the book as well. Once seeing the video, you can skip the early parts of the book, and dig right into the evidence for the truth of Christianity.

God Bless

What is the rule of faith for Christians?
Or what is the source of truth? Thanks

What is the rule of faith for Christians?
Or what is the source of truth? Thanks
The rule of faith for Christians is to simply believe in Christ as our only means of salvation, because of His faithfulness, and His finished work alone, upon the cross, to His ascension back to God the Father - So that we are only saved by grace, thru faith, and not of works : Ephesians 2:8-10 "8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. NASB.

Meaning again we are only saved by grace, thru faith, and not by works, lest any man should boast, however once saved, we are to try our best to perform what good works we can, as the fruit of our salvation, to prove we are saved, as our witness to the world. And our good works can be as simply to live as faithful Christian life that we can, and to witness to the world as we can, and to help the less fortunate, as we can, again only to witness to, and prove our faithfulness.

And there is only one caveat, in that we must Abide in Christ, or Endure in our faith until the end. For example the entire western world at this time, in large part have not remained faithful, because in large part have accepted the lies that their old nature self whispers into their minds, that they are their own gods. This is what rock n roll, and heavy metal is all about, as well as Hollywood, etc.., With the most favorites being the most evil, and fom the Beatles, to Led Zeppelin, etc.., you have no idea how evil they really are. And in the western world, our faithlessness goes back to the mid 1800's when Spiritism, being nothing more than Necromancy, or a false and most faithless evil, was all the rage in the west, to the point from going from bad to worse, and leading to and thru WW I and WW II, and beyond, to the 60's and rock, and beyond, to the point of the bible student and believer, getting an education in Christianity, Bart Ehrman, came to loose his faith, and turn his back on Christ, because of how the world is, etc.., He gave up, not the truth, but him alone. He gave up because he could not recognize the wrath of God upon a world, where people secretly believe they are their own false gods, and Ehrman blamed God for the sorry state of the world, and came to reject God, because he could not recognize wrath for what it is.

Now James 1:21-27, and James 2:14-20, 24, 26, etc.., has James, define, and qualify his own positions on faith, proven by the fruit of our good works, rather than by the false professors of faith, who do not change their lives at all, and thus prove they are not saved, because when James starts out in James 1:21, he begins by telling us to "Therefore put aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, and in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls:" - meaning if our faith is real, then we will abide in Christ, by abiding in true faith, by receiving the word, which is Christ, and his commandments of Loving God, and therefore then likewise your neighbor as yourself, meaning you would have the inner desire to witness and show them good works of love, because of that love "implanted" within you, which is able to save your souls again thru grace, thru your faith - and then goes on to attack, famously faith without works is dead, because our faith changes our hearts, thru grace because of our faith, and therefore we have to have good works, which proves our faith. And James goes on to say how we do this thru the Law of Liberty, rather than saying thru the law of Moses - because we are either changed in our hearts or not.

James is believed to be the oldest book of the NT, written by 45AD possibly, followed by Paul with Galatians in 48AD possibly as well. And Paul wrote 13 epistles, All After The Book Of James, which again all qualify James, in that James was saying our good works prove our faith, while Paul always qualified, however we must know our works are not what saves us, because James was only saying faith without works is dead - because we have to prove, to declare to the world - the proof of our faith.

Eph 2:8-10 again says we are not saved by our works, lest any man might boast, or Titus 3:5-7 again which restates Paul revealing that "He saved us not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to his mercy, ........" etc..,

So we are saved thru grace, thru faith, but must Abide in Christ, by enduring in our faith to the end. And not become like Bart Ehrman, who never on the inner level of his heart, had truly accepted Christ in his heart, to have a heart with the love of God inside, to be able to recognize the wrath of God upon todays world, and thus come to reject God, and thus make up all of the lies Bart Ehrman began and continues to sell to this day.

I am sorry, but I am ill, including having diabetes, and as such it affects my eyes, and I do not see fine print too well. I hate the default font size here, and so usually use a much larger font, again, because I don't see well. Back in 2008, due to a bad heart med, for hypertension, it made me very sick, and ultimately sent me to the hospital for a serious cardiac event. and when all was said and done, they changed my meds, made me quit using salt, etc.., but said nothing about quitting sugar as well, so I got diabetes, and my eyes have been affected ever since.

So I have to read your smaller default font typing very carefully, and when needed use a magnifying lens to read stuff that is too small for me. But with all of that said, I have to respectfully disagree with you.

We are indeed saved by faith alone, but must have good works, which can be as little as trying to live a good and faithful life, putting away wickedness, etc.., trying our best to witness, and try and help those who need our help, including whom we can, the poor, etc.., .....So that we can show the good fruit of our salvation, thru these works of good fruit, but not being saved by the good works. The good works are the proof of our salvation, being born out of a heart now dedicated to love, thru our faith, so again our works are our proof, rather than actually adding to our salvation. Ephesians 2:8-10.

Hope your better

Eph 2:8 refers to redemption not salvation
Hope your better
Thank you. But then again, I am still sorry to disagree, Eph 2;8-10 is indeed about salvation, but so much more. Scripture is complex, as are those verses, which not only reveal salvation, but likwise we are not saved by works, lest any man should boast, an how we are thus saved unto our good works that we might perform them, and thus have the fruit or witness to our salvation, without any mistaken notion that our works add to our salvation.

So like I said, it is complex, covering a multitude of topics in one location, but primarily on how we are saved, and then can in good conscious and so likewise good witness, bearing the fruit of the proof of salvation, and so perform said good works without any confusion that they add to our salvation.

And so likewise Titus 3:5-7 says the same, but again is complex, again with additional details. And we must take Eph 2:8-10 and Titus 3:5-7, etc.., etc.., etc.., together for the complex details they give, and seperate the details in our studies in faith to indeed see the means of salvation discussed, likewise with deatails of justification, and or sanctification, etc.., as we study more and more verses in our studies.

Question? Of the two theives on the crosses along with Christ, who both mocked Christ, until one quickly answered to the internal witness given to us all within, suddenly realized, and believed, and witnessed his new found belief in Christ, and was saved for believing, and then witnessing to that belief, and Christ said today you will be with me in paradise, what manner or list of
sacraments did he have to perform to be saved?

God Bless

And be well.

The Christian faith doesn't say you start with faith when it comes to knowing. Knowing is knowing. You look into things, examine, test, discern, countercheck. Faith is more for the matter of justification from sins. But I do know of one spot where Hebrews says you have to believe that God is--as though you start from there out of nothing. I don't think it meant that.

The reason (!) I don't think it meant that is because of a fairly well known statement Schaeffer quoted from Sartre: 'the essential problem of existence is that something, instead of nothing, is there.' Logically, if there is no god/creator, there really shouldn't be anything at all. If you take 'nothing' seriously! Not even matter, let alone a fully formed and functioning earth with all its systems.

But God makes things and voila, the image of God in most of mankind is that they make too.

eph 2:8 does not refer to you’re salvation it’s already past tense when Paul wrote it so it refers something that has already occurred, the redemption accomplished by Christ apart from our involvement. “Not of yourselves”

Did you know justification is not internal in the believer?

Grace church s applied to our souls internally in baptism

But by definition, the term justification has to do with justice, and the NT has a way of treating sin as a debt. So justification becomes the crediting of Christ's righteousness to us against that debt, to reconcile the books.

So this is not internal, though it creates internal blessings. The root and the fruit cannot be confused; they are not identical. Cause and effect are not confused, etc.

sin is not washed away?

sin is not washed away?

That is a metaphor for the debt; no believer can say it is totally washed away in daily life. (We actually had a heckler come to church 3 months ago and tell the pastor he was wrong for teaching that believers still sin! Sheesh! ) That would be called perfectionism and is dangerous to think that way.

1 Justification from debt is God's work in Christ in history for us.
2 Transformation from our dead nature is God's work in us through the Spirit now (obviously).

In #1 sin is seen as a debt; check all the times Jesus taught this. In #2, it is a stain or stink or dirt.

Baptismal regeneration washes away original sin and all past sins, future sin requires repentance and then pennance

Says Scripture nowhere. All sins of those in Christ, past, present, future are all forgiven, that's what salvation means.

You couldn't EVER do enough "pennance" <sic> to make a dent in even ONE of your sins.
Baptism washes away all sin acts 22:16 Titus 3:5

Sins after baptism must be repented of and confession and doing penance (prayer, fasting, alms)

Penance is biblical!
