Is freewill real or just something we invented it ?

not preferring.

Once again, the elect were chosen; they do not have free will.
Because I was chosen to be on the basketball team means I don't have free will?

You don't understand the free will of the Bible.

No one is free in their will, or otherwise, until in Christ; John 8:36. Otherwise our wills are bound to our fallen nature and desires.
Free will, as we see it operate in the Bible, is the power to choose freely and willingly, without external force or constraint, what one prefers.

We see that free will of the Bible operating there in both the saved and the damned.

When Jesus blinded Paul on the road to Damascus, are you saying that Paul just preferred to do what Jesus said to do? Sorry, I ain’t buying it. Paul was elect!!!!!

In the following passage, Paul explains his conversion. It was not a free will decision.

But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.

- Galatians 1:11-17 (NKJV)

I'm elect and I exercise my free will in everything.

You do not understand free will.

Where does it indicate Paul did not choose to do what he did, or that he did it against his will.

You do not understand free will.

Were you forced to do anything, or did you choose to do what you did?

No answer. . .
There is no force, a Born Again will do the will of the Father, Through the power of the Holy Spirit, a Born Agains will,...will always be in-line with the will of God...although it may take a while to reach that place, after all, God knows what is best for his children...again we reach that place of understanding through being a child of God and truly having a “:Living” relationship with him through the Spirit......it’s very difficult to explain...but no...you are right there is NO forcing.

But remember....God’s ways and thoughts are much higher than ours.......so, whatever the will of God is......it will be done..nothing can thwart the will of God.......

My thoughts and belief......a Born Again....is to GLORIFY GOD and NOT self...self is all about themselves and self serving knowledge...intellect, etc, etc, human knowledge...which counts for nothing......God is an AMAZING POWERFUL GOD.....mind blowing!!

My will is NOT free to do as “ I” will.....it’s to do the will of the Father through the Holy Spirit....it’s called the fruit of faithfulness...and HE will be GLORIFIED........I am just his vessel....that he can use however he chooses..

The elect will always do God’s will.
Amen!....it’s the fruit of faithfulness ..Sis.....that is my belief..I’m sure there is scripture on this.

Here is the scripture..

Galatians 5:22-26

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Sorry ,I had to edit it..its called the fruit of the Spirit......which is “ faithfulness “....he is the fruit bearer through us....we bear HIS FRUIT...as we grow and mature in the Spirit ..there is NO fruit in us........everything is about GOD and zilch about us....there is NO knowledge in us....our spiritual knowledge comes from God through the Holy Spirit....we are NOTHING without him.

Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

For those whom He knew beforehand, He predetermined their destiny, not their day to day decisions of life.
