Will we recognize anyone when in heaven?

Ok. let me ask you few questions.

1. What did the disciples want to know from Jesus just before He ascended? (Acts 1: 6)

2. What did the disciples preach? (Acts 2: 28)

3. Why did Peter not go to the Gentiles but had to be moved by the Holy Spirit? (10: 28)

4. Why did Peter try to get the Gentiles to act like Jews? (Gal. 2: 11 - 14)

5. Why did Peter say that Paul said some things hard to understand? (2 Peter 3: 16)

6. Why was Paul given the revelation of the Body of Christ and not the pre-ascension apostles? (Eph. 3: 3 - 6)

7. Why are the 12 apostles only kings and not kingpriests as the Body of Christ believers are? (Matt. 19: 28, Rev. 21: 14)

8. Why are the 12 apostles in the New Jerusalem and not on the Lord`s own throne in the third heaven? (Rev. 3: 21)
I honestly don't see what any of this has to do with them being part of the Christian Church? They were here after Jesus rose from the dead and they were filled with the Spirit at Pentecost. Are you suggesting that because they were less than perfect, they were not true New Testament saints? If they died before the cross, I might wonder, but they were still preaching the gospel after we moved into the New Testament age.

Did you try and answer those questions because the answer is there?

`Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.` (2 Tim. 2: 15)

Yes, the 12 apostles are in Christ but do not have the same inheritance. We are all only perfect in Christ. And what part of the good news did they preach? (Acts 2: 28) (one of the questions.)

I only asked the questions because as a former teacher I know that people learn best when they research for themselves and not just `spoon fed.`

I feel like you are trying to find a way to make the Bible say things it doesn't say. The Apostles that were with Jesus did have their own rewards, but they were part of the Christian Church, baptized into it on the day of Pentecost. No two people have the same inheritance so that is technically true, but they are all still born-again Christians.

I will take a closer look at your questions, but I don't see how they are relevant.

Ok. let me ask you few questions.

1. What did the disciples want to know from Jesus just before He ascended? (Acts 1: 6) Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

2. What did the disciples preach? (Acts 2: 28) Acts 2:28 says "Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance." Was that the scripture you meant to reference?

3. Why did Peter not go to the Gentiles but had to be moved by the Holy Spirit? (10: 28) Because under the Law of Moses, it was not lawful for a Jew to keep company with one from another nation, but God showed him that the Gentiles are included in God's plan of salation.

4. Why did Peter try to get the Gentiles to act like Jews? (Gal. 2: 11 - 14) He feared the Jews and how they would view his actions.

5. Why did Peter say that Paul said some things hard to understand? (2 Peter 3: 16) Paul was very educated in the Law of Moses, and he spoke as an educated man. Those who were uneducated in the law or unstable in their ways had trouble understanding his speech.

6. Why was Paul given the revelation of the Body of Christ and not the pre-ascension apostles? (Eph. 3: 3 - 6) It was his calling to be a missionary to the Gentiles. We all have our assignments.

7. Why are the 12 apostles only kings and not kingpriests as the Body of Christ believers are? (Matt. 19: 28, Rev. 21: 14) Only kings? Where does it say that?

8. Why are the 12 apostles in the New Jerusalem and not on the Lord`s own throne in the third heaven? (Rev. 3: 21) That scripture is speaking to Christians at large. Where do you get this idea New Jerusalem is not as high as the third heaven? New Jerusalem is the Holy city where God dwells. It is part of Heaven.

Thank you Instant for replying to those questions. I see they need more explanation.

1. What did the disciples want to know from Jesus just before He ascended? (Acts 1: 6) Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? This shows that the disciples were looking for the Lord to restore Israel over the nations. They did not understand about the B/C.

2. What did the disciples preach? (Acts 2: 28) Acts 2:28 says "Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance." Was that the scripture you meant to reference? Sorry should have been Acts 2: 38, `Let the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.` Àgain, no understanding of the B/C.

3. Why did Peter not go to the Gentiles but had to be moved by the Holy Spirit? (10: 28) Because under the Law of Moses, it was not lawful for a Jew to keep company with one from another nation, but God showed him that the Gentiles are included in God's plan of salvation. reveals that Peter was still thinking of Israel and not understanding of the B/C.

4. Why did Peter try to get the Gentiles to act like Jews? (Gal. 2: 11 - 14) He feared the Jews and how they would view his actions. Peter still had no understanding of the B/C.

6. Why was Paul given the revelation of the Body of Christ and not the pre-ascension apostles? (Eph. 3: 3 - 6) It was his calling to be a missionary to the Gentiles. We all have our assignments. The 12 disciples were never told about the B/C and even when Jesus gave Paul the revelation the 12 disciples still looked for Israel to be restored as ruler over the nations. They had no understanding of the B/C.

7. Why are the 12 apostles only kings and not kingpriests as the Body of Christ believers are? (Matt. 19: 28, Rev. 21: 14) Only kings? Where does it say that? Matt. 19: 28 `sit on twelve thrones...(kings)

It is part of Heaven.`Then I, John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming DOWN OUT OF HEAVEN FROM GOD.` (Rev. 21: 2)

Nothing you said proves that the 12 Apostles are not part of the Christian Church? It is true that the disciples didn't fully understand everything when they asked Jesus about him restoring Israel, but the other examples really don't show that. Even if they did lack understanding, it doesn't mean they aren't part of the Christian Church. John seeing New Jerusalem coming down doesn't prove it isn't the seat of power in the Kingdom of Heaven. I think we have a completely different version of how things will be in the future and even what is really taking place.

For instance, I do believe that God is exalting Israel above the other nations, but according to Romans, we are adopted Jews when we come to Christ. The natural Jews are the natural branches, and they are Israel, but the natural Jews that reject Christ are cut off, and the Gentiles that accept Christ are grafted in. We are all Israel by faith and part of a single church. There are not two classes of believers.

Thank you for your discussion. Now, I see from God`s word that we, in the Body of Christ are `neither Jew nor Greek, (Gentiles),...` (Gal. 3: 28)

And yet you are saying that we are Jews, Israel. Who are we to believe?
