I question if he even said that. I have a link somewhere that delves into the dubious historical record.You did not answer why Jesus said to baptise in the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.
But more than that is examining the consequences of this in light of other text. Namely, that there is not one recorded instance in Scripture of the Apostles following this directive. Either they baptized in Jesus name or no name is identified.
Therefore, we have to conclude 1 of 2 possibilities:
- The Apostles, who saw the risen Christ and chose to die horribly rather than deny him, disobeyed the directive of their Lord.
- The verse was added centuries later to invent “support” for a later doctrine.
By contrast, imagine relying on a verse to “support” the day Eve was created that does not mention Eve OR a day creation course? It’s so silly if not for the fact that so many indoctrinally invest in it.
