Jesus, peter, keys matt 16

Peter and Mary are fascinating. Most of Protestantism holds them in far too low esteem ... sort of a "counterweight" to the RCC and its excessive veneration. Peter really had a few impressive moments, and is someone we (as new Christians) can both relate to and aspire towards. Daniel is too perfect to relate to (at least I never feel like a Daniel). Paul is too accomplished to really aspire to. However, Peter can really "face plant" at some times and can "rise to the occasion" at other times ... and my walk just feels a lot more like that most years.*

[*EDIT: I know ... we aren't supposed to say that. We Christians just go from Victory to Victory, right? ;) ]
Victory is not the picture of it we paint.

the Israelites were victorious when taking Ark of the covenant into battle!

christians need to take the Ark of the new covenant into battle against the wicked forces of satan!

If I remember correctly Catholics say Mary is the Ark? Even though the Bible does not say or imply anything of the sort?

the Israelites were victorious when taking Ark of the covenant into battle!
Except for the time it was captured.
Then it was lost (Babylon and Rome).

I always take comfort in Paul's honest sharing:

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 [NLT]

So we are victorious by our use of icons? I know you didn't mean that, but...

My point is that what we generally try to be victorious about is not quite what God has in mind concerning us. Just as a 'fer instance', I want to have consistent victory over sin, if not total purity; well, what God has in mind is for me to come to know him better, as the ridiculously gracious God he is, as over against some kind of status with him as 'worthy of his acceptance'.

Not the baby Jesus or his mother, that is for sure. So why the question instead of an answer?

Christ they represent Christ!

Christ was in Mary the new ark of the new covenant

just the the ten commandments, manna, and rod of Aaron were in the Ark in of the old covenant

We need to take the Ark of the Covenant into battle. Seriously Don?
Is that what Joan of Arc was doing? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That is metaphysical and pagan and not everything in the Bible is a metaphor, allegory or symbol. If Mary was the ark of the new covenant, God would have said so, just as he did concerning the physical ark of the OT. If the new covenant had an ark of the covenant, scripture would have identified it, not left that up to a Pope.

the Israelites did in the old covenant by the command of God!
Again, We need to take the Ark of the Covenant into battle. Seriously Don?

Acts 7:48
Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

the mercy seat of the ark is dwelling place of God

Jesus is God who dwelt in Mary nine months His temple not made with hands

the Holy Spirit overshadowed the Ark

the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary Lk 1:35 fulfilling the prophecy of Jeremias

2 maccabees 2:1-8

1 Now it is found in the descriptions of Jeremias the prophet, that he commanded them that went into captivity, to take the fire, as it hath been signified, and how he gave charge to them that were carried away into captivity.

2 And how he gave them the law that they should not forget the commandments of the Lord, and that they should not err in their minds, seeing the idols of gold, and silver, and the ornaments of them.

3 And with other such like speeches, he exhorted them that they would not remove the law from their heart.

4 It was also contained in the same writing, how the prophet, being warned by God, commanded that the tabernacle and the ark should accompany him, till he came forth to the mountain where Moses went up, and saw the inheritance of God.

5 And when Jeremias came thither he found a hollow cave: and he carried in thither the tabernacle, and the ark, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door.

6 Then some of them that followed him, came up to mark the place: but they could not find it.

7 And when Jeremias perceived it, he blamed them, saying: The place shall be unknown, till God gather together the congregation of the people, and receive them to mercy.

8 And then the Lord will shew these things, and the majesty of the Lord shall appear, and there shall be a cloud as it was also shewed to Moses, and he shewed it when Solomon prayed that the place might be sanctified to the great God.

the high priest (heb 8:1) sprinkles the blood of the Lamb (Jn 1:29) upon the mercy seat (Jn 19:25) completing the propitiatory sacrifice ( 1Jn 2:2) fulfilling the redemption of the world!

Is Jesus a man?

Thks

Thanks. .

Yes, Jesus the Son of man born of woman (dying flesh and blood) our sister in the Lord Mary. Jesus became a born-again Son of God the first of many Christians.

He is not ashamed to call his family members brother sister and Mother.

They Call no man on earth Holy Father, Holy See, Prince of apostles, Bishop of Rome. Our Holiness ETC

Christ working in us. . not Christ the one good infallible teaching master is us The legion of his and hers gods called patron saints

Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

thats the advise of the saints
consecrated to Mary and imploring Her intercession!

Our Lady of Victory!

“I am the Mother of fair love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of holy hope. In me is all grace of the way and of the truth: in me is all hope of life and of virtue. Come over to me, all ye that desire me; and be filled with my fruits.” (Eccli. xxiv, 24-26)

“Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace, what we may obtain mercy and find grace in seasonable time.” Heb 4:16

With this encouraging invitation the Church commences the Mass on the Feast of Mary, Mediatrix of Grace. The Divine Office starts with the same jubilant note: “Come, let us adore Christ the Redeemer, who willed that we receive all good things through Mary!”

Mary has been officially proclaimed the Throne of Grace, a title the early Fathers loved to confer on her.

Among the precious objects of the Old Testament there was one thing closely associated with the Ark of the Covenant and symbolizing Our Lady in a special way.

It was a golden crown surmounting the Ark and sheltered by the wings of two adoring Cherubs. It was called the Propitiatory or the Throne of Mercy, for the glory of God appeared over it whenever He heard the prayers of His people or blessed them.

That is what Mary is in the New Law. The words of the Archangel: “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee,” is a perfect description of what used to take place when the majesty of God descended over the Propitiatory from time to time.

But whereas the Propitiatory of the Old Law only received the passing glory of God on rare occasions, this new Propitiatory bodily enshrined the fullness of the Divinity for nine months and possessed Him spiritually at all times and in a manner surpassing the presence of God in Heaven itself.

When Solomon had installed the Propitiatory in the Temple he had built, he declared that thenceforward all who wished for graces shall go to it and no one should approach it in vain.

But God granted many graces even apart from it. But in the New Law this Propitiatory is the only and universal means of grace.

So that the most natural thing for any one to do who wishes to receive graces from God is to approach this Divine Throne of Grace.

And that was precisely what the ignorant folk of the neighbourhood and the Wise Men from far off did when not the majesty of God but His very substance appeared first on earth. Lk 2:10-16

But Mary is infinitely more than the Propitiatory. For she is not merely the throne from which God administers His mercy and grace, but she is under God the very Queen and Mistress of the whole economy of grace.

Her central position between God and creatures and her extraordinary relations with all of them demand that the whole order of grace be somehow centred round her.

You have been deceived, you bought into a lie. What you follow is not even a Christian belief, it's a fairy tail, you make Mary into a mystical goddess.
