I chose God..Or God chose me...

Maybe you can,as you know more about than me.?

Then I can question you about it...if that’s ok?

60.Q.

How are you righteous before God?

A.Only by true faith in Jesus Christ. 1
Although my conscience accuses me
that I have grievously sinned
against all God's commandments,
have never kept any of them, 2
and am still inclined to all evil, 3
yet God, without any merit of my own, 4
out of mere grace, 5
imputes to me
the perfect satisfaction,
righteousness, and holiness of Christ. 6
He grants these to me
as if I had never had nor committed
any sin,
and as if I myself had accomplished
all the obedience
which Christ has rendered for me, 7
if only I accept this gift
with a believing heart. 8

61.Q.

Why do you say
that you are righteous
only by faith?

A.Not that I am acceptable to God
on account of the worthiness
of my faith,
for only the satisfaction, righteousness,
and holiness of Christ
is my righteousness before God. 1
I can receive this righteousness
and make it my own
by faith only. 2

Heidelberg Catechism

From my understanding, I believe regeneration is a one off, in other words, we have been birthed in the Spirit, ..we belong to God, we have the living indwelling Holy Spirit....the Spirit of God is Alive in our spirit, he brought us from spiritual death into his living spiritual life....period...that’s what I believe Brother, not saying I am right....

Once we are Born Again...then comes a whole new journey...and it ain’t easy, it’s a living spiritual relationship with God through the Spirit....the Holy Spirit begins the work of sanctification in us from day one, ..we are being made into the image of Christ through the power of the Spirit....he teaches us to walk in the Spirit, the flesh ,which was our old nature can cause so many problems.......it fights against the Spirit, ....think about it......one minute we’re a sinner, the next we are Born Again......that’s one heck of a shock to the system, well it was for me.....I guess and have heard everyone’s testimonies are very different......when I was birthed it blew my mind.....God’s word was so powerful!!...i was in “ AWE” of him and still am,,,,that was over 30 yrs ago.........it’s ok having all this head knowledge of the word......we also need heart knowledge......which means...imo.....the living word of God must be understood in the heart through the Ho,y Spirit.........my thoughts and belief.

Edit to add.....I knew in my head, God hates arguing, we should not argue....I still continued to argue.....then one day, God spoke to my heart about arguing...it was his living word, if i continue to argue, then I knew there will be consequences, I haven’t argued since...I got the message delivered to my heart...that’s just one example, hope it makes sense.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Just a note:

The phrase "quick and powerful," where "quick" (zao) means "living," refers to it being a way of access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ;
to its ability to test, prove and scrutinize in examination,
and "powerful" refers to its power to impact the conscience, to convince, convert, comfort, to take down strongholds.

It is proven by scripture as rightly divided by the word of truth until you prove I did not rightly divide the word of truth by explaining what those scriptures is about.
We have no mandate from God to understand and interpret prophetic riddles, nor do our personal interpretations have any accuracy apart from their agreement with NT apostolic teaching authoritative to the church. Your interpretations enjoy no such agreement.

LIkewise, riddles being subject to interpretation and not stated doctrine, my interpretation of them is quite different from yours, and that is all it is, personal interpretation, enjoying no authority whatsoever. There is no measure for the accuracy of anyone's interpretation other than its agreement with NT apostolic teaching authoritative to the church. Your interpretations are not in agreement with apostolic teaching.

You fail to understand Bible 101, that interpretations of prophetic riddles are not doctrine, they are simply your personal interpretations.
And when those interpretations disagree with apostolic teaching, it can be authoritatively stated that they are in error.

Every time we think it's hot here in East Texas we say, "Well, could be worse .. could be in Houston". ;)

I immigrated from Canada 25 years ago to get away from the cold. (Dad was an American from birth)

Hebrews 10:24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

I had believed I wanted to provoke my opponents to rightly divide the word of truth that I had shared that was opposing how they had shared or had agreed with the one that had shared what the scriptures to mean for the progress of the discussion.

Since I am here to learn also and I did learn about how Jesus Christ is also an Apostle from @Wordsmith ( one of my contenders against me ) as I applied other scriptures to confirm that Jesus Christ is One sent by God per Isaiah 48:16-17 ; I was hoping for either another correction or an attempt to align the scriptures I had applied to show how it did not oppose how @Eleanor had applied "the last day" to mean.
But that is backwards.

It is for you to show from the NT that "the last day" does not mean what it states,
it is not mine to show from prophetic riddles that it does.

NT doctrine governs, not personal interpretation of OT prophetic riddles not spoken clearly (Nu 12:8).[/b]

I understand but apparently we are opposed to how we rightly divide the word of truth to mean.
We can only let it go with His help and let God minister to us in the hope that one day down the road, one or the other will see the truth in His words to bear more fruit in the knowledge of Him.
Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
I am thankful to the Lord that we were not name calling one another and such like, but I suppose asking the other to ask the Lord for wisdom may be seen as belittling, but I had believed I was doing it to provoke the other side or my contenders to address the scriptures & prove otherwise what I had applied from scriptures for why I had believed that how they applied certain scripture to mean was wrong, ... since scripture cannot go against scripture.
Still continuing to assume that your personal interpretation of prophetic riddles not spoken clearly (Nu 12:8) is a definitive interpretation which has to be demonstrated to be in error, even though it is not in agreement with NT apostolic teaching authoritative to the church, which is the demonstration of its error.
But I need the Lord's help to know when the other side has made up their minds to let it go since it is not really on me or you to show the truth in His words when Jesus has to help us to see that.
Actually, their minds are "made up" because you have provided no Biblical demonstration of the agreement of your personal interpretation of prophetic riddles (Nu 12:8) with apostolic teaching which is authoritative to the church.

Re: Regeneration
According to Jesus, is it not by totally sovereign act of the Holy Spirit, as unaccountable as the wind (Jn 3:3-8)?
Not? You meant to put 'not' in there? :)

The OT saints were regenerated by the Holy Spirit, but not indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Actually, at least some of the OC saints also had the Holy Spirit within them (not merely upon them).

1 Pet. 1:10-12 (Webster)
10 Of this salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come to you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ who was in them did signify, when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they ministered the things, which are now reported to you by them that have preached the gospel to you with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

Luke 1:13-15 (Webster)
13 But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

John the Baptist was an OC saint.

I don’t need to hear of anything else....just that I have been birthed in the Spirit..which is a “ Living” Spiritual birth...pretty simple to understand and is not complicated...as long as it’s the Holy Spirit who births us...I am Born Again.

Unfortunately some men/ woman try to over complicate the living word of God...where in reality it’s so simple to understand...nothing complicated in knowing one has been birthed in the Holy Spirit, is now a child of God and in his Kingdom.we are in the world, but we are not of this world....we belong to God......imo/ belief..
Getting to know the foundations of the faith is edifying, encouraging, faith-building and a protection against error. We all need to grow and subjects like justification by faith are very important aspects of our growth in knowledge and understanding.

It's really not complicated; although, it is possible to delve deeply into the subject, but you don't need to do that, to grasp the essentials. Justification by faith means that we are declared to be righteous (justified), through faith in Jesus Christ. The basic reason for this, is that Jesus took our sins and punishments upon him, when he shed his blood and died on the cross; then he rose from the dead for our justification. That justification, having been accomplished by Jesus, is then applied to us, when we believe in him.

Yes, they were regenerated and the Holy Spirit intermittently operated within them.

We don't know that it was intermittent in all cases.

Foundations of Faith: Grow in the Knowledge of The Truth.

I’ve grown leaps and bounds , in God’s knowledge of truth...I stand on the living word of God and no other word.

This sums it up nicely for me..online source.

A foundation based on God produces steadfast faith and life, and allows us to be living examples to others. Dig your spiritual foundation deep; develop deep faith. Building a sure spiritual foundation means investing, inspecting, and ensuring the foundation is maintained—and God's given us the instructions to do this!

Justification by faith apart from works being
a declaration by God of "not guilty," a sentence of acquittal, a finding of right standing with the Court; i.e., penalty paid, time served, no debt owing,
and forensic righteousness imputed.
