Do you have a spiritual gift?

There are different kinds of gifts but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 1 Cor 12:4-5

So if you believe the gifts are still active, which gift do you have and how do you use it?

Faith hope and love gifts still active.

Love . .. my pastor wasn't talking to me so I gave them a card thanking them for their hard work and gave them a hardware store voucher. Hoping it would open communication

I believe gifts are active as they are needed to build up the church. We are part of One body and we each have a role to play in that. Sometimes it is obvious what a person's gift is, sometimes it isn't.

I know that God has called me to pray for my church, so I guess my gift is prayer, although I am not sure I do it very well. At least I know the power of prayer is in the One being prayer to, not in the one praying.

I'm a cessationist..so see the gifts of prophecy, tongues and gift of knowledge have passed. I also believe the ministry gifts have passed ..but I don't have an issue with people who believe they have the ministry gifts.. because it isn't alot different to being talented at something.

Can we have a list of gifts you exclude as I presume you believe the following have not ceased:

1. Preaching
2. Teaching
3. Evangelizing
4. Healing
5. Miracles
6. Discernment of spirits
7. Wisdom
8. Knowledge

Did only some of the gifts cease or all? Why do you make a distinction?

As for me, I prayed for the gift of "wisdom"
I lead a small group ("Life group") and we meet every Wednesday. I need a lot of wisdom from God to aid me in my small role of "sheparding" these folk once a week, and who come to our house with a lot of expectations/needs.

I'm a cessationist..so see the gifts of prophecy, tongues and gift of knowledge have passed. I also believe the ministry gifts have passed ..but I don't have an issue with people who believe they have the ministry gifts.. because it isn't alot different to being talented at something.

I do not believe any of the gifts have ceased, however they are perhaps as not as evident as they were at Pentecost or during the early church period. I do not see any evidence from Scripture that the gifts were to cease.

I do have a fairly broad definition of spiritual gifts that include anything that edifies the church. Others may disagree.

I have the gift of Faith.....oh boy did it have to be exercised though.....I received faith as soon as I was birthed in the Spirit....NO Question that GOD is who he says he is.....” Mind Blowing “:in that area.

Yet, what he showed me .what was to come ,in an area of my life....Faith was very weak......NOW!.....after over 30 yrs of that knowledge.....he has brought me back to it.....my Faith is in God, NO doubt whatsoever that it WILL come to pass.....Faith must be exercised......and what PLEASES GOD....our Faith in HIM.....my faith is NOW in HIM and I know in my spirit HE knows it........sorry I can’t share, yet.....one day I hope to......Praise God He has got me to this place, through the wonderful/ precious Holy Spirit.....I couldn’t do it without him.....the Hissy Fits and Tantrums I have had over it.....all such a wonderful learning to bring me closer to God......His Will Be Done......not miss RitaJanice will.....LOL.....Praise your Holy Name Father God........there is NONE who can get me excited as you do.....NOT One.....my testimony and belief.

What I don't like is some of the current (last 100 years, maybe) teaching that this is The List, and this is How It Works. The mentality of Develop Your Gifts, to me smacks of the same kind of self-determinism that thinks one must Discover God's Will For Your Life, in order to perform it.

There's something off, foul, about separating the creature from the Creator in such a way that the Creator is "only a part" included in the Christian walk, and the creature is only motivated, and guided —not driven and caused— and that only by the cooperative will of the creature is the will of the Creator accomplished.

Yeah, spiritual gifts weren't something you went thru a learning seminar to discover. The apostles just did them! By God's power.

It depends on the circumstance and what is needed at that time. I have my initial gifts but I was never any one thing for him it is the willing he chooses to use

Yes that is literally how they described as we are to use our gifts to maintain each other to bring each other closer in unity with Christ effective ambassadors once the church remembers who it once was it come from the church to the rest of the world

There has been 2000 years since this was written..in that time both the death the apostles and the completion of the canon have happened. Not to mention the destruction on the temple. These led to the passing of most of the gifts.
