Do you have a spiritual gift?

There has been 2000 years since this was written..in that time both the death the apostles and the completion of the canon have happened. Not to mention the destruction on the temple. These led to the passing of most of the gifts.
The individual sign gifts and miracles but not those that build up the body of Christ. I’ll list them later . Gifts serve a purpose and function and some are still necessary and others are not.

No the gifts never stopped we did

Sounds like your saying...don't pray for healing. It doesn't work anymore.

There are different kinds of gifts but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 1 Cor 12:4-5

So if you believe the gifts are still active, which gift do you have and how do you use it?
Mine isn't in the traditional list. Well...maybe it is. It depends on how you define "annoying sleepy Christians".

Why most and not all. I am certain the ones you don't like will be under the list of those that have ceased?

If God was one to do things halfway maybe he would be right but God doesn't change he does it all the way or not at all.

They are called gifts they are given from him a gift is recieved but can be ignored or thrown away it isn't mandatory but your missing out.

Oh .. I mean that faith hope and love are spiritual gifts. So therefore not all ceased.

Some don't include faith hope and love in the gifts, but they are different kinds of faith hope and love than natural kinds. Supernaturally empowered.

Why me?
I don't have a problem with the gifts.

Since 1 Corinthians was written before the book of Romans then the gifts in Romans 12 were and are still in use.

Romans 12
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Which of these have ceased in your opinion:
so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Romans 12:5‭-‬8 ESV

And love is said to be the one most sought after the greatest of them.
Amen!!

1 Corinthians 13

Expanded Bible

Love Is the Greatest Gift

13 I may speak in ·different languages [L tongues; 12:10, 29, 30] of people or even angels. But if I do not have love, I am only a ·noisy [resounding] ·bell [gong] or a ·crashing [clanging] cymbal. 2 I may have the gift of prophecy. I may understand all ·the secret things of God [L mysteries] and have all knowledge, and I may have faith so great I can move mountains. But even with all these things, if I do not have love, then I am nothing. 3 I may give away everything I have, and I may even give my body ·as an offering to be burned [L to be burned].[a] But I gain nothing if I do not have love.
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not ·jealous [envious], it does not brag, and it is not ·proud [arrogant; conceited; puffed up]. 5 Love is not ·rude [disrespectful], is not ·selfish [self-serving], and ·does not get upset with others [is not easily provoked/angered]. Love does not ·count up [keep a record of] wrongs that have been done. 6 Love ·takes no pleasure [does not rejoice] in ·evil [wrongdoing; injustice] but rejoices over the truth. 7 Love ·patiently accepts all things [T bears all things; oralways protects], ·always trusts [T believes all things], ·always hopes [T hopes all things], and ·always endures [T endures all things].
8 Love never ·ends [fails; falls short]. There are gifts of prophecy, but they will ·be ended [cease; pass away]. There are gifts of ·speaking in different languages [or ecstatic utterance; L tongues], but those gifts will ·stop [cease; fall silent]. There is the gift of knowledge, but it will ·come to an end [pass away; be set aside]. 9 ·The reason is that [For] ·our knowledge and our ability to prophesy are not perfect [L we know in part/imperfectly and we prophesy in part/incompletely]. 10 But when ·perfection [the perfect; completeness; wholeness] comes, the ·things that are not perfect [partial] will ·end [pass away; be set aside]. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I ·stopped [set aside] those childish ways. 12 ·It is the same with us [L For…]. Now we see ·a dim reflection [obscurely; orindirectly], ·as if we were looking into a mirror [T through a glass darkly], but then we shall see ·clearly [L face to face]. Now I know only a part, but then I will know fully, as ·God has known me [L I am fully known]. 13 So these three things ·continue forever [endure; remain]: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.

And faith, hope and love are listed along with the others in Romans 12 which was written after 1 Corinthians. So they did not cease. :)

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality

We have a faulty hermenuetic at work with the idea that the only gifts are faith, hope and love in use.

About this I am a huge skeptic. I doubt there is a complete list. I've had training, formal and otherwise, on this, and I cry, "foul", already, on any "complete list". Even the most Biblically based teaching I heard smacked of a superstitious "use of method". My guts constrict at that whole thing —the worldview that humans are to figure out "how to" do Christianity.

Not only that, but that what the members of the Body of Christ do does not each one always the same thing, and not usually is one thing on the 'list' the same in one member as in another.

OT: It isn't about Gifts that I became what appears Calvinistic or Reformed, but about obedience. I revolt against whatever is what I found so useless for so long: The notion that all I have to do is figure out one more thing, or understand one more thing, or ever reach a certain level, or do one certain thing, or give up this or that, or any one of a hundred things books are written about —it goes on and on— in order to finally have some sort of what I can consider faithfulness, anymore makes me sick to my stomach.

Yes, I do feel better now. Thanks for asking.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. I can hardly wait.

You know this how? And in what way do you mean "through" someone?
By through I mean God uses a person...As one example it is through prayer for a person. The person doesn't have the powers. It is Gods power flowing through a person.

Its a beautiful thing to see brothers and sisters in the Lord use their gifting's to encourage and build up the body of Christ, even exhortation is a wonderful thing to see when its done in love. :). And yes I do not think there is an exact list anyone agrees upon.

And you are right the older I get the less things I considered important are not that important anymore. Its about living out my faith, being salt and light and sharing Gods love with a lost and dying world. I'm all about the gospel the older I get.
