All of which is a Judaizing application of an old covenant on new covenant people that Judaizes Christianity with the Mosaic Law.There is not two sabbaths, one for Israel and another for Gentiles. Gentiles violate God and His Word by changing His sabbath from one day to another which is sin. This effectually makes Gentile Christianity a religion not a relationship.
13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Ex 31:13.
Throughout means throughout and forever.
What does the epistolary state about the seventh day?
What does the epistolary states about the festival Sabbaths?
Why is it these texts are rarely (if ever) used in your ops?
Paul mentions the word "sabbath day" once! and on that occasion he unequivocally states no one is to judge another and it is a mere shadow of things to come.
Colossians 2:16-17
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day — things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.
There is the implication at least one of the "festivals" (presumably Judaic) was practiced by at least some in the Church. Otherwise, there'd be no need to bring up the matter. The next line is curious,
Colossians 2:18-19
Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.
What do the festivals, new moons, or Sabbaths have to do with self-abasement? Is this a reference to some pagan holy day practice? Is this a reference to sleeping in tents instead of their homes during the Jewish festival of tabernacles? Is it the practice of fasting or austere meals (such as the seder) common in Mosaic era holy days? If that mention of self-abasement is a reference to anything Judaic then it is also a repudiation of those Sabbaths.
The only other mention of any sabbath or Sabbath in the epistolary is Hebrews 4:8.
Hebrews 4:8-11
For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Therefore, let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.
This is part of a multi-chapter narrative on Christ's fulfilling the Law and his being the reality of things that were foreshadowed or, in Paul's vernacular, "merely shadowed" in Tanakh. In other words, the sabbath wasn't reality. The sabbath was a shadow. This begs the question,
Why would anyone want to walk in the shadow and not reality?
The book of Acts contains eight mentions of the word "sabbath," all of them referencing the seventh day. Every single one of those mentions is about the apostles going to the synagogues when the Jews assembled so the apostles could preach the gospel to a large crowd. Not a single one of those eight mentions ever instructs any convert to Christ to practice the sabbath! Every single one of those eight verses is a simple observation and not an instruction. The book of Revelation never uses the word "sabbath."
Why is there no instruction to practice the sabbaths of Judaism after Calvary?
Why do Christ seventh-day-sabbath-keepers rarely (if ever) mention the facts of whole scripture? Why is this information from God's word omitted? Is this a matter of ignorance? Is it a matter of neglect? Do they know this information and deliberately keep silent about while trying to persuade others to live their way? Why is this information - information taken directly from God's word without embellishment - never engaged when broached by others?
