What Happened In Acts?

Hi Fred

Can you elaborate a little? Are you making a counter point or agreeing.

Are you getting into the 'Para' 'en' 'epi' discussion here?

Dave

Hello Dave,

I posted to show that the birth of the Church was not in the upper room before Pentecost.

John 3:13-15 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 14 more context.

16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

19 "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"

23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 You have heard Me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for My Father is greater than I.

John 7:37-39

37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." (Born again)

40 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (Compare this passage to John 3:14-15)

John 3:14-15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Your post is an awful mess. Is the purpose of this thread to quote passages? Make your point. What are these passages proving, indicating, presenting, whatevering? You no doubt think they are self-explanatory —so does everyone else. What do you think they say —i.e. "in other words"—and what do you think they prove? We don't argue against scripture. If we were to all post scripture to counter what you think you would probably say, like us, "but these scriptures prove MY point!"

I was just adding context to what was previously stated in this thread. That's all. It was in my mind at the time, so I posted it while I still had it. When I see or hear, or remember something that I think is relevant, I want to get it down in a post before it gets shelved in my mind. It's a mess, but it's a beautiful mess. There's country song in there somewhere. :)
