The Presbyterians Are Not Done Reforming From Catholicism

Look how John Calvin and followers for an example like Anderson had applied communion for;

Lord's Supper Practice in the Reformed and Presbyterian Tradition

Anderson explains...........
So now we're supposed to discuss the title's subject of Presbyterians supposedly not being done reforming Catholicism based on an opinion piece of someone writing 500 years after Calvin (who was not Presbyterian) wherein he second-handedly and selectively references another, third, source to prove his second-hand opinions?

And you think that has the makings of cogent and rational discourse?

Do you think this proves Presbyterians are not done reforming Catholicism?

Remember: Just answer the questions asked. Demonstrate, and thereby prove, an ability to do better.

Now that Presbyterians walk like a duck and talk like a duck, ( that duck being the Catholic Church ) they will be apologizing to the Catholic Church as the Lutherans had done in the U.K. for not knowing why they had ever left the Catholic Church in the first place.

When believers believe the Presbyterian pastor that Christ will put His Presence in the bread & the wine... and because they vary in the performance of this "holy" communion, then do not be surprised if they ever began communion service with "We come into His presence today.." because they believe His Presence is in the bread & the wine at communion. They may not all start that communion service with that opening BUT that is what they are doing and saying when it comes to "holy" communion; thuds making the bread & the wine idols.

And claiming they are receiving "spiritual benefits" when eating and drinking communion; thus doing it for MORE than in remembrance of Him is a sin against what He told us to do communion for.

If Jesus meant for us to actually receive something for our benefits, He would have led with that, but no. Like the Catholics, for why the Reformers are not done reforming communion, they are receiving "holy" communion for something more than just doing it in remembrance of Him.

No one is going to convince any church that belongs to the Presbytery to change how they do communion; without risk of losing their jobs and the church by the Presbytery.

So just leave the church.

But... if the Lord is leading you to start a reformation in your church, then may God cause the increase.

However, it seems no one is hearing me and so I believe "once again", the Lord wants me to leave the forum.

I really need His help to do that and He has to help me apply faith that His sheep will hear His voice in following Him to help me let go.

May God bless you & keep you. May He shine His face upon you & give you His peace.

Stay in the forum for support but you may need to leave your church—if you are in a Catholic one.

There is a difference between His spiritual union with his church and His physical presence in the sacraments!

As an anti-Catholic ( mostly anti-Francis) but a card carrying Evangelical Presbyterian... variation of for the past 7 plus decades I cringe that we would be tied back to that church or the Church of England ( Where a distant blood relative ... a vicar therein... left that church and headed to Scotland and the Presbyterians all over baptism.!!!) ( Ultimately making his church in Maryland centuries ago)

I digress.

Now... The Westminster Confession of Faith.... on communion makes this statement.

CHAPTER XXVI. OF THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS

part 3
III. This communion which the saints have with Christ, doth not make them in any wise partakers of the substance of His Godhead; or to be equal with Christ in any respect: either of which to affirm is impious and blasphemous, (Col 1:18-19; 1Co 8:6; Isa 42:8; 1Ti 6:15-16; Psa 45:7; Hbr 1:8-9). Nor doth their communion one with another, as saints, take away, or infringe the title or propriety which each man hath in his goods and possessions, (Exd 20:15; Eph 4:28; Act 5:4).

It certainly seems clear that if a Presbyterian church follows the Westminster Confession... the bread and wine DO NOT become flesh and blood.

The bread and wine used in Communion are symbolic of the body and blood of Christ, respectively.

And what is the importance of said communion ? Hear it from Jesus' own mouth... and then define definitively if you believe the elements do not change...................

John 6:53-58

New American Standard Bible 1995

53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.

54 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

55 For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.

56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.

58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.”

Spirit life in the flesh not spiritual life is the dead flesh.

It is a common error to confuse the literal historical things seen with the spiritual unseen eternal things of God (Faith.). The . . "Let there be power " the unseen eternal not seen revealing the things seen dying mankind.

Parables the signified understanding of prophecy must be rightly divided to find the mysteries of faith> .

The invisible life of the flesh (covering of the spirit) is in the blood . not the literal blood without the spirit. .

Like Jesus the Son of man said of his own flesh and bones . Look at me, does a spirit have flesh and bones?

Life without the spirit essence of life must be poured out returning to dust. demonstrating life was given by the Spirit.

The word blood and or with water How it is used in parables must be searched out .

Parables teach how to walk by faith (the unseen eternal things of God

Make a great study. Hundreds of references in parables
