The Mind of Christ Session 1

Thank you for sharing this. I heard this before but I actually needed to hear it this second time too. Awesome sermon.

It is an easy thing to, not forget, but forget the first impact it had on us. That old adage of Paul, we look in a mirror and see ourselves clearly and when we walk away, forget what sort of man we are.

I had to chuckle when he started talking about the indicative statements and the imperative statements and said how they always [eventually] go together. I thought to myself, "We do so because it IS so."

I don't know if you have had a chance to view Session 2 yet, but he goes more into always connecting the imperative to the indicative. I understood it from Session 1, but it really hit home in the next session as an invaluable tool. If you read an imperative, go back and look at the indicative that came before it, or find it if the indicative follows the imperative. It will put the perspective in its proper place. Who we are now and what it is we now possess, and why we can do the imperatives. Because it is God working in us according to his promise. We are not conforming ourselves to the image of Christ. He is doing it, faithfully, and all in good time, and over our earthly lifetime. When we recognize this, those areas where we are falling short or struggling, we see for what they are. Areas in need of sanctification. And we press into his throne of grace, and ask for grace and mercy, and for his namesake, to sanctify us in whatever area we need the sanctification.

@ElectedbyHim I am directing your attention to this and these videos because you have stated in another thread, your struggle in this area. And in the hope that it will bring peace where there seems to be none at times.

AMEN! HE is doing it!

Thank you. My struggle is in the faithfulness, which, I expect, is going to be lifetime. I have watched both the first sessions, though I wasn't able to give full attention to them. They were very encouraging.

But mostly, to me, anyway, they were very God-honoring. God is doing precisely as he planned from the beginning. This isn't about us nor even about our performance-for-his-sake.

Being conformed into the image (likeness) of Christ may be a sort of pun of meaning: There is the carbon-copy notion, which has a little merit, but we all ultimately recognize that we remain individuals in Heaven, too. On the other hand, there is the notion of "members" (cells?) of the Body of Christ —each cell a little different, each one part of, and one with, Christ. Bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. :D There goes that tapestry again!

Thank you for thinking of me.

I am going to try and make some time in the next couple of days to watch the video.

Really like Pastor Voddie.
