The Heresy of Modalism

Modalism is a theological heresy that denies the Trinitarian doctrine of God as three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in one essence.
Instead, Modalism teaches that God is one person who manifests or appears in three different modes or forms, that is, sometimes as the Father, sometimes as the Son, and sometimes as the Holy Spirit.

So, Modalism emphasizes the unity of God to the exclusion of the distinct persons. It presents God as one person who simply changes masks.

One modern-day example of Modalism is "Oneness Pentecostalism.

Interesting cult, for usually its the denial of Jesus as God, but their issue is they accept Jesus as God, but not the Trinity

They have problems when they try to explain away God the Son standing in the water when God the Holy Spirit is seen as a dove and God the Father speaks from heaven.

All 3 are presented as the same time. No mask change.

And just to whom was Jesus speaking to in the garden then?

On a different Christian forum, I have run into a few Oneness folks who subscribe to Modalism, which is heresy. Two of these folks are Oneness Pentecostals and the other attends the Fist Apostolic Pentecostal church. All three of these folks are constantly promoting their false gospel, emphasizing a single God manifested as Jesus Christ, (non-Trinitarian) and requires water baptism in Jesus' name (only valid formula) and baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues as all necessary for salvation. (Galatians 1:6-9)

If Modalism were correct, when Jesus prayed to the Father wouldn't he actually be praying to himself as Unitarians falsely claim is true of the Trinity?

Those doctrines would certainly place them outside of Christianity, and into he realm of the JW, Mormon churches, as they have another Jesus and another Gospel
What is sad is a known Modualist such as a TD jakes gains so much traction as being legit in certain circles

Have had some explain it to me that they hold to the deity of Jesus was in heaven talking to the Humanity of Himself that was in human flesh then

Remember when a friend of mine told me was now a Christian, and went to his new church, and he was reading a book with title, 'was Jesus in the Godhead, or was the Godhead in Jesus?" That Pastor also wanted to dunk me in the tub to have me gte the "proper water baptism"

That's pretty sad.
