There is much more to the Ark of the Covenant than just what it is made of and what was inside of it.
It represents the triune God that dwells among His people, not Mary.

And it is called the Ark of the Covenant for a reason. What was inside it was the stone tablets of the ten commandments and at one time, though I think it was lost, the Aaron's budded staff. Covenant relationship, the living covenant maker with the power to perform his promises, even to bring the dead to life.

The New Covenant needs no ark for Jesus himself, risen from the dead, and his blood shed, the blood of the covenant, is our guarantee.

Atonement Cover - throne where God sits (Ps 99:1, Ex 25:22, 1 Sa 4:4, 2 Sa 6:2)
--two angels - Justice and Righteousness, which are the foundation of his throne (Ps 89:14, 97:2)
--God sits in judgment on their sin in the Ark.
Therefore: Throne of God is Judgment Seat.

Atonement Cover - covers their sin in the Ark.
Therefore: Throne of God is Mercy Seat.

The Ark of the Covenant was a type of the throne of God (Mt 24:31) which is both
the Judgment Seat of their sin and
the Mercy Seat of their forgiveness (Mt 24:32-34, 41).

The Ark does not lend itself to being Mary.

Mary never has a metaphor attached to her, and the "metaphors" attached to Jesus, such as the root of Jessie, and the vine, the door etc. are more figures of speech describing his position. "Blessed is the fruit of thy womb" is a Catholic rote prayer counted out on beads. Which by the way is something Jesus spoke against concerning prayer.

Mary is not the mercy seat. Nothing in Scripture says any such thing. The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and she conceived. He is the Father of the child. Scripture never says the Holy Spirit overshadow(s) her.
