Taco Bell

Taco Bell? Wow. That is sad. Very sad. That's a joke, right? Shouldn't this be in the Humor or Jokes board? ;)

None of those polled had ever been to any (doesn't matter which one) Mexican restaurant in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area)!

LOL! Or Mexico, apparently! When I go to a place I like to hang out with the locals. I go to NYC and visit the bodegas, jazz clubs, and churches. Been there more than once and never been to the Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty. Maybe one day. When I go to Mexico I do the same (although I did go to Chichen Itza = very cool ). I once went to this little cafe where the tacos were 25 cents (and I think the burritos were maybe 50 cents). I got chicken, beef, bean, chorizo tacos to heart's content. Went to the bakery across the street and bought pastries and deserts I don't even know the name of (I no habla Espanol). Yum!

Taco Bell does not serve its filling on multiple little round tortillas (two so the juices don't seep through while you eat them) and I'm not sure what that filling is to begin with 😯. Not sure I want to know, either. They ain't been to Coachella Valley but I'll bet they've been to Jack in the Box. Everybody's tacos are better than that. Taco Bell looks like haute cuisine in comparison.

My first husband and I (deceased) had a crane business that served the Coachella Valley. Our favorite Mexican place was in Palm Desert, where Rancho Mirage meets Palm Desert. But it really didn't matter what one you went to, there wasn't a bad one. The plete---and a big one---came out too hot to touch. Fat enchiladas , cheese and onion, shredded beef, or shredded pork, your choice, smothered in a rich dark red sauce, topped with shredded cheese, a side of sour cream, awesome refried beans, and rice. An always refilled bowl of chips and salsa. And the place was heaven to walk into out of 115 degree heat. Cold and kept dim. By the time we left, stepping back out into that heat was heaven also. Good memories. Good times.

The Coachella Valley is an area in the southern California desert that butts up against mountains on one side, and open desert on the other. It begins at Palm Springs and chains through incorporated towns like a necklace. Palam Spring, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indian Wells, Indio.

You're deceased? 🤨 That explains a few things 😆

Yep. I've been there and you're right. Hot temperatures and great Mexican food. As I recall, there are only two types of restaurants in Palm Springs, hoity-toities and local dives. Guess which ones I prefer.

Same ones I did I imagine. Local dives. Shorts, tank tops and sandals. Those were the days of my youth. Skinny and sun browned, and half wild.

I spent 9 months in Mexico City, (with Wycliffe Bible Translators). Some of the Mexicans there had been to the States, and they said, "Those American Tacos are really good!" (Taco Bell and Taco Cid (don't know if you remember Taco Cid).)

Used to eat Mexican tacos on our morning breaks. Not at all the same thing. But those corn tortillas were good even by themselves. Hot and fresh.
