Differences between the Olivet discourse passages in Matthew 24 and Luke 21.

They asked about the end of the age not the world.

The end of the age was the temple age as they were talking about the temple and Jesus answered them.
The temple was destroyed but Jesus' discourse goes beyond that time period. He had a lot to say.

We are still in the 'age' or aiōn because Jesus hasn't returned yet.

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days...

Jesus is talking about the time immediately after tribulation.

V.30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

We know this didn't happen. And he's not saying the sign of his return is for the people or generation he's talking to, it's the generation sees and the sign endures the tribulation.

Verse 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

An angel sounding the trumpet proves that this is about end-time events.

Verse 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Verse 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

VERSE 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Jesus uses the word 'THIS' because 'this' is the generation that will see and endure what he is talking about.

The word THIS is better understood in some verses as "even so" even as" and "so thus." And in some translations "these" and "the same." The antecedent to "this Generation" in verse 34 is ALL of what Jesus said between verses 4-33.

Look at it this way...

"SO THUS, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."
Vines says about the word THIS...

Even (Adverb, Etc.), Even As, Even So:
or houto, "so, thus," is frequently rendered "even so," e.g., Mat 7:17; 12:45; 18:14; 23:28; "so" in 1Cr 11:12; 1Th 2:4, RV.

Verse 35-36 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. \~But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Jesus is talking TO the people in front of him about the people who will SEE these things. Not ONCE does the passage suggest Jesus is deviating from talking about "the end" or any other generation other than the one that sees and endures what Jesus said about...

Preterist would like people to believe that the entire chapter of Mathew 24 is all about the Jews, Judea, and the destruction of the temple in 70AD! So they pose the argument that Jesus is talking to his disciples who they say are all Jews. That's not true because not all of Jesus disciples were Jews! The context, the word END, the word WORLD, and the consummation of the age debunk that idea. What matters most is the question and not who is asking it.

Pre-tribbers would tell you that people were not Christians until after Pentecost and there were no Christians at the time Mathew 24 was written, so the entire passage has nothing to do with Christians and the Church. They also tell us that the passage is only about Israel and the Jews claiming the word "ELECT" indicates Jews. That makes absolutely no sense and is an outrageous fabrication to say such a thing. The entire chapter is about the consummation of the age and the signs of His coming. Jesus was talking about "the signs of the time" just prior to and during his return. The wors ELECT indicates Christians.

"Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"

The question the disciples asked was,

"What is the sign of thy parousia and the consummation of the age."

Not one word in verse 3 or the entire passage suggest that "the consummation of the age" ends in 70 AD.

It's common for words used in prophecy to be used just once or twice in the bible. End-time prophecy is full of passages where certain words are only used once.

What is the context of Mathew 24?

The entire context of Mathew 24 between verse 3 and verse 51 is Christs' answer to the question....

WHEN shall these things be. (one stone on? top of another) WHAT shall be the sign of they coming. WHAT shall be the sign of the "consummation of the age."

Islamic prophecy teaches that Jesus (the 'Muslim jesus') will return and convert all Christians to Islam. Muhammad and today's evil bunch of Muslim clerics are all false christ. There will come false miracles to entice people to accept Islam and ITS NOT POSSIBLE for the elect to be deceived. ONLY MUSLIM'S WILL BE DECEIVED. This is an indication that the church will have absolutely nothing to do with the man of sin and only Muslims will fall for it. One part of Islamic prophecy says the Mahdi will return on the road from Syria to Iraq. Then the Mahdi will make his way to Mecca and Medina and the Muslim jesus will follow. Don't believe it because Jesus says in verse 27 that his return would accompany specific signs.

THIS GENERATION
The Preterist movement CHANGED the dating of several books. According to them, Revelation NOT was written between 90-95 AD but in 65-70 AD. It makes no sense that John would write a prophetic book (in 69-70 AD) that we've broken down into 22 chapters, that had no time to be distributed, read, copied, or even preached or remotely understood throughout the inhabited world before its fulfillment. Little to NOTHING was understood in the book of Revelation in 70 AD or Mathew 24 because they weren't even written at that time. I have a serious problem with Preterism as it denies entire books, chapters, and hundreds of prophetic verses.

Pre-tribbers say Mathew 24 is for Jews, Preterist say it's meant for the generation Jesus is speaking to. Some go as far as saying the earthquakes Jesus mentions in verse 7 are figurative of "the earth shaking events surrounding 70 AD."

"And Jesus went out and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things, verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

The first thing to notice is Jesus saying, "see ye not all these things?" The second thing to notice is the three part question the disciples asked. The context of the chapter MUST be understood as an answer to this three part question.

How about when Jesus kept repeating "you will" when He was talking to the disciples in the Olivit Discourse?
