Dating Revelation - combined internal evidences for AD 60

When I wrote before on a different website about the Rev. 20 millennium being fulfilled in the past, someone responded that a certain Catholic named Corsini had proposed the same thing. I was never able to locate that source, but it really doesn't bother me that neither you nor I have found any commentaries or scholars that state this. The book of Revelation's internal evidence proves the millennium had ended even before the time John was writing Revelation. All we have to do is compare two texts (Revelation 12:12 and Revelation 20:3 & 7) and the proof is there.

For point #3, that verse translates better as "the things which are about to take place hereafter..." And yes, that includes the "kings of the earth" as well as the kings of the "habitable world". These are not the same thing. The "kings of the earth" are the high priests of the land of Israel, as scripture describes them in both the OT and NT, while the "kings...of the whole world" concerned the known Roman world of the first century. In the Lamentations 4:12 verse you listed about "the kings of the earth" not believing that the enemy would enter Jerusalem, this was the high priests of Israel who did not believe that their own city Jerusalem would be taken by the enemy.

You have made the point that the verses such as Revelation 3:10 regarding an imminent judgment on the "world" (oikoumenes) should be part of the dating decision for Revelation. Yet the very intended purpose of an imminent judgment on the whole world stated in this verse was "to try them that dwell upon the earth (tes ges - the land of Israel)". In other words, a judgment on the whole known world in that first century was necessary in order to judge the people of Israel, who had synagogues and a presence "scattered abroad" all over the Roman empire at the time. A judgement of God's vengeance upon the Israelites of that generation would necessarily have had to encompass all the regions of the known world where Israelites had been scattered.

Plus, the "days of vengeance" for the Israelites betraying and murdering God's Son was a sin for which the Roman world also had shared a part of that guilt. When Christ stood before Pilate, He told him, "He that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin..." This meant that judgment for Christ's death by Rome's authorization also fell in part upon the known world of that first century, even if the greater share of punishment fell upon Christ's own countrymen.

"His blood be on us and our children" was a self-imposed blood oath that confined God's "days of vengeance" only upon those who conspired to slay Him, and also upon their own children of that first-century generation. That "vengeance" did not extend to any other generation beyond that one. This confines the imminent disasters of Revelation to that particular first-century generation and no later than that.

Revelation written before AD 70 when the role of high priests still existed

The simple definition of what scripture calls the "kings of the earth" is extremely important in dating Revelation. Every prophecy in John's book which mentions these "kings of the earth" must refer to a time when that office was still in existence. This term "kings of the earth" does not refer to regular monarchs of empires or kingdoms. The "kings of the earth" was a title given all the way back in Psalms 2 to the high priests of the land of Israel. Those high priests were no longer being appointed in the years following the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem. So the prophecies of Revelation which describe the activities of those "kings of the earth" must of necessity must have been speaking of times when high priests in Israel were still in existence to perform those activities.

Christ referred to those "kings of the earth" and their sons being exempt from paying the yearly Temple tax in Matthew 17:24-26. This referred to the high priests and their sons who were the beneficiaries of the Temple Tax, and who were "free" from paying that obligatory tax that the rest of the adult males in Israel were supposed to pay. This exemption dated all the way back to the days of Moses' tabernacle.

The prophet David predicted of Christ's death in Psalms 2:2-3 that the "kings of the earth" and the "rulers" of the Sanhedrin took counsel together against the Lord and His anointed, in order to cast away the cords of God's control over them. The high priests of the house of Annas and the Sanhedrin most definitely conspired together to put Christ to death, as the disciples knew very well had happened, and said so in Acts 4:24-29. Those "kings of the earth" high priests of the house of Annas were then threatening the disciples, in order to suppress the gospel message.

Revelation written before AD 66

For just one example in Revelation 17:18, the "great city" Babylon was then currently reigning over the "kings of the earth". Jerusalem with its Roman governance in John's days was most definitely reigning over the high priesthood "kings of the earth". The role of high priest was only achieved by a Rome-authorized appointment in those days, lasting only until that high priest was deposed at Rome's pleasure. Even the robes of the high priest were being held (contrary to ancient Jewish custom) in the stone fortress of Antonia where the Roman troops were garrisoned, to be doled out on the feast days at Rome's discretion. The high priests could not pass a death sentence against Christ without Rome's permission to do so.

All of that Roman governance ruling over the high priesthood came to a halt in AD 66, when the Zealot rebellion threw off their Roman overlords and established their own sovereign nation of an independent nation of Israel, minting their own coinage and setting up their own governors. This means that Revelation had to have been written at a time prior to AD 66 when Rome-governed Jerusalem was still reigning over the high priest "kings of the earth".
Thanks for this especially showing who the kings of the earth were

Daniel 9:27 speaks of some sort of "treaty". What it will end up being currently is anyones guess.
There are those who believe it is the current Abrahamic accord seen in the news recently.

Think about it and listen to the bible not man’s ideas.

Why would an angel sent by God to Daniel as an answer to Daniels prayers for his people in his days speak of something more then 2500 years later?

The 70 weeks are an answer to Daniels prayer for his people in the past. The 70 weeks would give Daniel and the Jews hope.

The Jews would still be under foreign control but they would be able to go back to Jerusalem and rebuild the city and the temple. Satan would once again try to destroy and stop it all through Antiochus Epehanies but the faithful Jews would rise up and prevail and once again reestablished the temple sacrifices.

It was for them not us today and all of these events happened and the faithful Jews would be encouraged and strengthened by read Daniels words

Thanks for this especially showing who the kings of the earth were
Scripture really does define its own terms, as it took me a looooooong time to take advantage of. I'll expand on this theme tomorrow of the "kings of the earth" = high priests in Revelation 17. Those seven and the eighth high priest "kings of the earth" of the house of Annas narrows down the date of Revelation even closer to the time before AD 63, before the 7th high priest "king" (Ananus ben Annas) was briefly appointed for only 3 months to the office.

The angel Gabriel appeared to him and gave him a vision of Israel’s future.

You will see that Daniel knew Jerimahs 70 years were coming to an end and the people were still not repenting so Daniel was pleading to God for mercy. God sent the angel to Daniel as an answer to Daniels prayer that’s the reason for the 70 weeks

In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes[a] (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian[b] kingdom— 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:

“Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments,5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. 6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.

7 “Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10 we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.

“Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. 12 You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem. 13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. 14 The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.

15 “Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16 Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.

17 “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

70 weeks are proclaimed for Israel....Jesus is "cut off" with 1 week (7 years) remaining.

Jesus was cut off (crucified) on the exact day. That happened. Jerusalem wasn't destroyed until about 40 years later....the last week doesn't fit in.

As I said the last week will start up again when the rapture occur or shortly after the rapture. This is the time of Jacobs trouble. The 7 year tribulation period.

I normally don't like posting entire web pages..but in this instance it's hard to convey the entire description of the who, what, when, where and why's of the 70th week in short responses. The following is from Got Questions.

The question is asked....

What are the seventy weeks of Daniel?

The “seventy weeks” prophecy is one of the most significant and detailed Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament. It is found in Daniel 9. The chapter begins with Daniel praying for Israel, acknowledging the nation’s sins against God and asking for God’s mercy. As Daniel prayed, the angel Gabriel appeared to him and gave him a vision of Israel’s future.

The Divisions of the 70 Weeks
In verse 24, Gabriel says, “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city.” Almost all commentators agree that the seventy “sevens” should be understood as seventy “weeks” of years, in other words, a period of 490 years. These verses provide a sort of “clock” that gives an idea of when the Messiah would come and some of the events that would accompany His appearance.

The prophecy goes on to divide the 490 years into three smaller units: one of 49 years, one of 434 years, and one 7 years. The final “week” of 7 years is further divided in half. Verse 25 says, “From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’” Seven “sevens” is 49 years, and sixty-two “sevens” is another 434 years:

49 years + 434 years = 483 years

The Purpose of the 70 Weeks
The prophecy contains a statement concerning God’s six-fold purpose in bringing these events to pass. Verse 24 says this purpose is 1) “to finish transgression,” 2) “to put an end to sin,” 3) “to atone for wickedness,” 4) “to bring in everlasting righteousness,” 5) “to seal up vision and prophecy,” and 6) “to anoint the most holy.”

Notice that these results concern the total eradication of sin and the establishing of righteousness. The prophecy of the 70 weeks summarizes what happens before Jesus sets up His millennial kingdom. Of special note is the third in the list of results: “to atone for wickedness.” Jesus accomplished the atonement for sin by His death on the cross (Romans 3:25; Hebrews 2:17).

The Fulfillment of the 70 Weeks
Gabriel said the prophetic clock would start at the time that a decree was issued to rebuild Jerusalem. From the date of that decree to the time of the Messiah would be 483 years. We know from history that the command to “restore and rebuild Jerusalem” was given by King Artaxerxes of Persia c. 444 B.C. (see Nehemiah 2:1-8).

The first unit of 49 years (seven “sevens”) covers the time that it took to rebuild Jerusalem, “with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble” (Daniel 9:25). This rebuilding is chronicled in the book of Nehemiah.

Converting the 360-day year used by the ancient Jews, 483 years becomes 476 years on our solar calendar. Adjusting for the switch from B.C. to A.D., 476 years after 444 B.C. places us at A.D. 33, which would coincide with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9). The prophecy in Daniel 9 specifies that, after the completion of the 483 years, “the Anointed One will be cut off” (verse 26). This was fulfilled when Jesus was crucified.

Daniel 9:26 continues with a prediction that, after the Messiah is killed, “the people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.” This was fulfilled with the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. The “ruler who will come” is a reference to the Antichrist, who, it seems, will have some connection with Rome, since it was the Romans who destroyed Jerusalem.

The Final Week of the 70 Weeks
Of the 70 “sevens,” 69 have been fulfilled in history. This leaves one more “seven” yet to be fulfilled. Most scholars believe that we are now living in a huge gap between the 69th week and the 70th week. The prophetic clock has been paused, as it were. The final “seven” of Daniel is what we usually call the tribulation period.

Daniel’s prophecy reveals some of the actions of the Antichrist, the “ruler who will come.” Verse 27 says, “He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’” However, “in the middle of the ‘seven,’ . . . he will set up an abomination that causes desolation” in the temple. Jesus warned of this event in Matthew 24:15. After the Antichrist breaks the covenant with Israel, a time of “great tribulation” begins (Matthew 24:21, NKJV).

Daniel also predicts that the Antichrist will face judgment. He only rules “until the end that is decreed is poured out on him” (Daniel 9:27). God will only allow evil to go so far, and the judgment the Antichrist will face has already been planned out.

Conclusion
The prophecy of the 70 weeks is complex and amazingly detailed, and much has been written about it. Of course, there are various interpretations, but what we have presented here is the dispensational, premillennial view. One thing is certain: God has a time table, and He is keeping things on schedule. He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), and we should always be looking for the triumphant return of our Lord (Revelation 22:7).

Messiah isn’t the original word it’s actually anointed one and no New Testament writers or even Jesus Himself ever claimed to of fulfilled any of the 70 weeks. The book of Matthew is full of showing when Jesus fulfilled old testament prophesies

Daniel 9
25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One,[f]the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.

If this is only one anointed one or even Jesus Himself how does He come seven sevens or 49 years after He is cut off?

There has to be two separate anointed ones.

What are the seventy weeks of Daniel?

CrowCross, I enjoy a discussion of the 70 weeks along with all the rest, but no one is going to be able to find your discussion of this if you include it here in this post. Your efforts won't be as effective as you might wish. (Plus it kind of goes against the rules...just sayin'.)

Many see Rev 3:10 as a future message for the church...keep you from the hour of testing refers to the removal of the Christians from the earth as the rapture. That is as being removed from the tribulation.
Relevance to dating Revelation?

I'll expand on this theme tomorrow of the "kings of the earth" = high priests in Revelation 17. Those seven and the eighth high priest "kings of the earth" of the house of Annas narrows down the date of Revelation even closer to the time before AD 63, before the 7th high priest "king" (Ananus ben Annas) was briefly appointed for only 3 months to the office.
Okay, as promised yesterday, here's the next installment of internal evidence for an early date composition of Revelation, based on the 7 and the 8th "kings" in Revelation 17...

Revelation written sometime before AD 63

Dr. Gentry's book "Before Jerusalem Fell" has confused this topic in an honest effort to interpret who those 7 and the 8th "kings" were in Revelation 17. His claim is that the sixth "king" which "IS" in existence (at the time of John writing Revelation) represented the emperor Nero - sixth in the line of Roman emperors.

I agree with Dr. Gentry that Nero did happen to be the emperor in power when Revelation was written, but Nero was NOT the sixth "king" under discussion in Revelation 17. Scripture has its own definition of what the "kings of the earth" are, whom the "great city" (Jerusalem) was then ruling over in John's days of writing Revelation. Christ Himself referred to the high priests of Israel as being the "kings of the earth" who were exempt from paying the yearly Temple Tax in Matthew 17:25. Also, even from antiquity, the nation of Israel had been referred to as "a kingdom of priests". God had originally designed Israel's royalty to be in her high priesthood that wore the golden crown with "holiness to the Lord" engraved upon it - not in a regular monarchy such as the nations round about her typically had in power over their people.

With this understanding that scripture's "kings of the earth" were the high priesthood in Israel, we come and apply that to the text of Revelation 17. The angel announced that the (Judean) Scarlet Beast appearing in the wilderness (of Judea) had seven heads which were seven mountains (Mount of Olives, Mount Zion, Mount Scopus, etc.) upon which literal mountains the harlot (Old Jerusalem) was sitting.

But those seven heads on the Judean Scarlet Beast had a double referent - they were also seven "kings" (high priests of the land of Israel) with an eighth "king" which would follow who was "of the seven" because he came from the same family - of Annas the high priest.

Why would God distinguish this family of Annas in particular from all the other high priests in Israel who had ever served? Because they were the corrupt family of high priests which conspired together to crucify Christ, and to persecute the early church. All the kindred of the high priest Annas were there at the emergence of the early church, threatening them if they continued to preach in Christ's name (Acts 4:6 - Annas, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, "and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest").

The family of Annas through Roman political appointments were able to hold an almost continual monopoly on the high priesthood role from AD 6 until AD 66. One after the other, Annas the patriarch, the one son-in-law, the five sons, and one grandson of Annas filled this position. The language of Revelation 17:10-11 concerning the 7 and the 8th "kings" fits their terms in office perfectly.

"And there are seven kings..."
(There were seven high priest "kings" of the house of Annas on this Judean Scarlet Beast)

"Five are fallen..."
(Five of those high priest "kings" had died as of the time John was writing Revelation - Annas, his son-in-law Caiaphas, and sons Eleazar, Jonathan, and Matthias were all dead by then.)

"And ONE IS..."
(The son of Annas named Theophilus was still living when John was writing Revelation, since Luke wrote the book of Acts and Luke, personally addressed to the "most excellent Theophilus". This high priest lived at least until the end of Paul's 2-year house arrest in Rome, ending around AD 63, because Luke mentions Paul's 2 years of captivity to Theophilus in Acts 28:30.)

"And the other is not yet come..."
(the 7th high priest "king" of the family of Annas - namely his son Ananus - had not yet been appointed by Rome to serve as high priest as of the time John was writing Revelation.)

"And when he cometh, he must continue a short space..."
(When Ananus the 7th high priest "king" would soon be given his appointment by Rome in AD 63, he was only able to serve a mere 3 months. Ananus overstepped his authority by having James the brother of Christ brought before the rulers and murdered at the temple site. This action went beyond the bounds of his office as high priest, so when Roman authority heard about this, Ananus was deposed shortly thereafter in AD 63. This AD 63 event was in the future to John's time of writing Revelation.)

"And the (Scarlet) Beast that was..."
(The Judean Scarlet Beast representing an independent kingdom of Israel which had once been established for about 80 years after the Maccabean victories...)

"And IS NOT..."
(As of the time when John was writing, this independent kingdom of Israel had not yet been restored after Pompey had put the nation of Israel under tribute to Rome in 63 BC. This was why the disciples questioned the risen Christ if He would at that time restore again the kingdom to Israel which had been lost - Acts 1:6.)

"Even he is the eighth..."
(The Judean Scarlet Beast had a double identity as also being the 8th high priest member of the house of Annas. That was because Mattathias ben Theophilus, grandson of Annas, was the appointed high priest leader in Jerusalem serving in AD 65-66. This year was the same time when the Zealots' uprising in late AD 66 revived the existence of the Scarlet Beast as an independent kingdom of Israel again. Mattathias was the titular head of that Scarlet Beast at it's re-emergence to life again.)

"And is of the seven..."
(Mattathias ben Theophilus who became that titular head of the Scarlet Beast was genetically descended from the family of the 7 high priests of the house of Annas.)

"And goeth into destruction."
(Mattathias as head of the Scarlet Beast would soon be set aside in favor of the Zealots' choice of Phannias as the puppet high priest that they controlled. Both Mattathias and the Scarlet Beast were "about to...go into destruction", as John 17:8 (YLT) tells us. Nether Mattathias nor the Scarlet Beast over which he was briefly its leader would last any longer than the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem and the Roman conquest of Zealot-led Israel as an independent kingdom.)

It doesn't really matter when Revelation was written by John.

The Preterist still can't show where in history what is mentioned in Revelations has already happened.
Some of it happened the past

1/3 of human history passed by before God moved Moses to record it. The idea of dispensations God working differently has no roots. He finished all the work in 6 days. Yoked with him we can rest on the 7th or the perfect

The Amil. . signified understanding called hidden manna in 2:17 works the best.

To add to this when Jesus cleansed the temple He stated “My house” but at the end of Matthew chapter 23 He stated “your house“
Yes, but let's make sure we're highlighting the relevance to dating Revelation and not digressing from that specific objective. Among the points I was endeavoring to make are that the "house" already existed, the tribulation already existed (because the churches to whom the seven letters were written existed. The Nicolaitans and the jezebel already existed in the first century and those congregations were dealing with overcoming back then at the time Revelation was written. This does not determine whether the book was written in the late 60s or the early 90s, but it does preclude a futurist interpretation and they are the ones typically asserting a late-date. A number of other eschatological matters can be confronted (such as all pre-trib povs) but we're seeking to address the early/late-date matter and nothing more - and the op stipulates internal evidence. The mentions of overcoming, tribulation, and Nicolaitans are all early first century conditions, not late first century ones. If the Nicolaitans have anything to do with the presbyter Nicolas mentioned in Acts 6:5 then that is evidence supporting an early date, but that's a fairly loose connection because Nicolas appears to be commended in Acts 6, not a heretic, and Antioch is some distance from Ephesus and Pergamum. There is some speculation the Nicolaitans were involved in eating food offered to idols and if that's the case that too was an issue addressed very early on in NT-era Church history (c. 57 AD and before) according to Act 15 and 1 Cor. 8).

The op stipulates internal evidence. One of the problems with appeals to "internal" evidence is that they may not be internal, and the arguments made are frequently post hoc. A truly solely internal case looks at scripture-rendering-scripture BEFORE it appeals to secular history. In the case of appeals to secular history there are two problems: 1) submitting scripture to history as the authority rather than the other way around and 2) the doctrinal interpretation of history.

There are more than 340 Old Testament references in the book of Revelation (according to textual authorities like F.F. Bruce and many others). Even if the number is half that, it becomes incumbent upon the reader of Revelation to recognize, identify, correctly understand and then correctly apply those OT references BEFORE looking to post-writing history. I'll bet if I polled everyone here few if any could give me examples of commentators who have done that and done that thoroughly. As I said earlier, I've read more than twenty commentaries on Revelation, and I cannot think of one author who des that thoroughly. Some do it better than others. Some do not do it at all. And example of doing so would be my earlier look at Lamentations because it turns out the mention of "kings of the world" has a very specific meaning if Lamentations is the reference. It is specifically a mention of the kings not believing an enemy could enter Jerusalem - and nothing else!

So understanding the OT and earlier NT references in Revelation is absolutely necessary if a truly internal-evidence approach is to be taken.

And this op did NOT do that.

Identifying the issues in the letters to the seven churches elsewhere in scripture, identifying whether they were early first century conditions is important. If there is no evidence of their early existence then that lends itself to a late date, but the fact is those conditions are ALL early first century conditions.

The problem with appeals to secular history of events after Revelation was written is that each person tends to interpret them from their doctrinal position with confirmation bias run amuck. Futurists view the scriptures futuristically and then view history futuristically and then apply the later post hoc. The common protest against the partial-pret is "When did X happen?" and we can all explain when X happened, but the response is an invariable, "Nunh unh," because the explanation does not fit the preconceived view. For example, the mention of the red and purple garments is necessarily a reference to the Levitical priesthood if internal evidence is the rule. If we abandon the premises of scripture interpreting scripture and internal evidence, then the purple and red can be made to mean any number of things but if we're looking for scriptural evidence first then there is only one interpretation possible: the Levitical priesthood. That would support an early-dating of Revelation because after 70 AD the Levitical priesthood had been destroyed. Claims the red and purple indicate Roman Catholic priests or a returning Levitical order in the 21st century are not appeals to internal evidence; they are post hoc interpretations that can be reached only by abandoning the internal evidence, applying already existing doctrinal biases, and looking to post hoc speculation for confirmation.

That one verse, Revelation 1:19 turns out to be very important. That is additionally so when combined with the "at hand" or "near" of Rev. 1:3 and 22:10, and a pile of other evidence internally contained in Revelation itself. An enormous amount of Revelation's content had occurred prior to and during the time when John was shown those visions. They are internal evidence dating the book.

Read the whole chapter again the angel appeared to Daniel as an answer to Daniels prayer in the first part of that chapter that was the reason for the 70 weeks

Sorry...don't see it.
????

What is plainly stated is not seen?

The angel appeared to Daniel.
Daniel 9:21 states, "while I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously, came to me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering."
Gabriel came to Daniel while Daniel was in prayer.

The angel appeared as an answer to Daniel's prayer in the first part of the chapter.
Daniel 9:4, 20-21 states, "I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, “Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments..................... Now while I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God in behalf of the holy mountain of my God, while I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously, came to me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering."
Daniel's prayer starts at verse 4, in the early part of the chapter.

Daniel's prayer was the whole reason for the 70 weeks.
Daniel 9:22-24 states, "He gave me instruction and talked with me and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding. At the beginning of your supplications the command was issued, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed; so give heed to the message and gain understanding of the vision. Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place."
Gabriel tells Daniel the command was given at the beginning of Daniel's supplications because Daniel was highly esteemed.

In other words, @Marty's summary comes directly from what is explicitly stated in the text of scripture.

Gentry...................
Is it your plan to review the entire book here in the thread?

Some of it happened the past

1/3 of human history passed by before God moved Moses to record it. The idea of dispensations God working differently has no roots. He finished all the work in 6 days. Yoked with him we can rest on the 7th or the perfect

The Amil. . signified understanding called hidden manna in 2:17 works the best.
How does that help date Revelation?
