One of my big brothers, (a linguist), one time asked me what would I think was most important for an international spy to possess —proficiency with weapons? —crazy strong-smart fighting ability? I said, "The ability to stay one (or more) steps ahead of his enemy." He said, "That's right!", and proceeded to recommend me a sci-fi novel about a spy-group who develop their own language, which eliminated about 90% of the length of time it takes to say something, partly by eliminating unnecessary or irrelevant chatter. This way they were ahead of their opponents, and were able to 'cut to the chase' in any communication and make faster decisions.
Ever notice how fast a child answers a question? Before the last word has left your mouth, the answer has already formed in theirs! Why? —No complications, is one way to put it.
Same sort of thing comes to me about Joseph and Daniel. Captives of a foreign king, they gained his confidence above all others —even above the king's own countrymen! Why? Because of their love for and continuous dependence on God, I say. All the noise and confusion of diffracting purposes and desires gone, their mind on their God, their thoughts were directed toward what is important.
This post is about the simplicity of God, or, at least, about a way to look at it. God has all the information, all the ability/power, and only his purposes stand, in the end. For him, this is not complicated. He spoke it, and it is done —and in every detail, I say, because he had all the information without any complication. For God there is no, "what if", no "chance", nothing that he has to consider within a larger context because it was, in his mind, already part of that context. God created for a purpose, and that purpose is as sure as God's word. It cannot fail.
WE don't see it complete yet. And stuck within this passage of time, we see contingencies and possibilities and competing priorities and unlimited 'what-ifs' and other unknowns. We think to ready ourselves for various scenarios, just in case.
Well, God is not like us.
