Where, in the teachings of Christ do we find Him teaching on the imputed righteousness for a believer?
Or is this strictly Pauline? (Examples would help.)

But I suppose there is no direct teaching from Jesus?

The teachings of Paul and the other apostles are the teachings of Jesus. It is what was revealed after the cross and resurrection, as it would have made no sense before. The work had to be done first.

John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on is own authority, but whatever he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Acts 9:15 (the Lord speaking to Ananias about Paul) The Lord said to him, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the people of Israel.

The way I see it is that the Pharisees followed the law to the "T"...even made up laws to help them follow the law. In other words they tried to be perfect. Jesus is saying you mst be more perfect than the Pharisees. In fact completely perfect. But, as we all know we can't be perfect.

That's why God came in the flesh and became our perfection.

Here is the concept....

2 Cor 5: 21God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
.....Our sin was imputed to Christ and His righteousness has been imputed to us.

and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith.

• Jeremiah 23:6 “This is His name whereby He shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness”
• Jeremiah 33:16 In those days Judah will be saved and [the people of] Jerusalem will live in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: the Lord Our Righteousness (Justice).’

Never said it did. All of Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

He doesn't. Not in those terms. It is implied in passages such as John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life."

In the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9-14) He is declared righteous not on the basis of his work but humbled faith that appeals to mercy. "this man went down to his house justified."

The reason Jesus did not teach it explicitly is because that was not his mission. That was the mission of the apostles. His message was announcing the kingdom of God, calling Israel to repentance and faith, revealing himself as the Messiah, doing the work of redemption---perfect righteousness and atonement on the cross. He did not come to teach systematic theology, but to reveal the Father and fulfill the promises and types of the OT.

So, there are no passages of Jesus explicitly teaching on imputation of righteousness.

A number of years ago there was what was called Red Letter Christians, meaning most of their theology came from the teachings of Jesus,
The emphasis of my theology is from Paul (Pauline), especially the letter to the Romans. Since the doctrine of imputed righteousness/justification is a central theme of Paul's, I was wondering if Jesus had taught on that topic? There seems to be hints of it (Be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect), but nothing to explicit as we see in Romans 3 & 4.

I hear you. I don't see anywhere He speak directly on the topic.

There seems to be hints of it (Be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect), but nothing to explicit as we see in Romans 3 & 4.

I would say the same thing comes somewhat close to if Jesus taught that He (Jesus) is the proper recipient of prayer.
