I didn't get much info on my local news, First was he collapsed. Second was they think shots were fired. I will look on line. It was obvious that something happened when Trump covered his ear, then fell. His reaction was quick and decisive and caused the people behind him to follow suit and drop to the ground.

Apparently the shooter fired from a rooftop of an adjacent building to the rally area and Secret Service took out the shooter.
One other rally member died and another still in critical condition.

It should have been secured but then it also was not part of the fair grounds.

I was watching and saw it happen.

By the grace o God... or I should say by God's will he had turned his head just a bit and that saved his life.

Butler is almost 100% pro Republican so maybe secret service felt he would be safe?

And maybe this was the plan all along... on the eve of the GOP convention?

Remember they were trying to strip the Secret Service from Trump a couple of weeks ago because of the fake criminal things going on.

I can only speculate.
I do not know the protocol of the Secret Service as to what has to be observed before they can fire at a civilian.
A guy on a rooftop could be up there with a telescope just to get a closer look.
I would think it would need to be undeniable that he had a rifle aimed at Trump and not holding some other object.
That could take more than a second or two depending on how well the shooter had the rifle concealed.
I do know that as soon as the shooter fired shots, he was taken out immediately, which may have saved a lot of lives if the shooter had planned to spray the crowd at the rally.

History tells us that for anyone to think that they can be completely protected anywhere, much less in such a crowded open space, is a little naïve.

I give Trump credit for being a champ in the situation with good reflexes, and for his response to the crowd of "fight fight fight" right after being wounded himself.
That's the kind of guy I want to be Commanded and Chief of our armed forces.

I do know that as soon as the shooter fired shots, he was taken out immediately

They had the shooter in their sights and were denied permission to take him out presumably waiting until the shooter missed or hit his target. Seems awfully strange to me."

Let's face it, that would be more fun!!!

There are degrees of aburdity. Interesting, negligence is a defense for gross negligence. There is prudence but next to it is not conspiracy. Rather it is imprudence or incompetence.

Some use the term "dereliction of duty," which seems to have a military connotation. I don't know what the difference is but certainly, it is not a conspiracy to recognize anyone who is not part of the protection team being on the roof is a big no-no. Big League.
