Testing the spirits

Then you can never separate that pagan supernatural tongue which is in the world form the real God's gift of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 testifies that the gifts are to profit the body of Christ, the assembly.

1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Paul specified that these gifts are not sought by seeking a baptism with the Holy Ghost when they are already born again of the Spirit and thus a member of the body of Christ. Verse 13 below is the testimony we are all suppose to share and that includes no more filling of the Spirit for that would mean one member had another drink of the One Spirit to be filled again..

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many.

AND Paul says these gifts were never meant for any member of the body for private use.

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

So what does that mean for your verses in 1 Corinthians 14:2 & 4 ? You are reading tongues for private use into the verses and therefore not rightly dividing the word of truth.
Then we should never privately pray or worship either since that only edifies the self. Or, like I've already noted, the body can still be edified by private intercessory prayer, and the same is true of praying in the Spirit---we can intercede on behalf of others.

The greater concern is you are calling Scripture heresy. 1 Corinthians 14.2 says it plain as day:

2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

I don't know why you seek to deny the clear teaching of God

I am addressing tongues for private use for why there is no interpretation coming because it is gibberish nonsense and not a foreign language of men.

So when ever you or anyone cite tongues for private use, you are just confirming that it is gibberish nonsense for why there is no interpretation.

I do not doubt your salvation but we were warned not to believe every spirit but test them and the tongues they bring as found in the world.

1 John 4:1-6
The interpretation was Scripture.
God spoke the Word of God to me perfectly verbatim.
So, it wasn't 'gibberish nonsense' and it was not private.
There was at least 98 people in the room.
Then, it was confirmed one Sunday morning in church with prophecy and the laying on of hands before the assembly.
And all the while the experiences were under the anointing in the Presence of the Holy Spirit.
Maybe somewhere in Peter's first sermon there were tongues of Joel's prophecy (the Word of God.)
It is very possible since Peter quotes Joel under the anointing.

I do not doubt your salvation either but Jesus warned us about false prophets and false spirits for why many will not be ready as found abiding in His as His disciples in the last day.

Those professing believers found in iniquity that get left behind are still saved for why there are vessels unto dishonor in His House.
No saved individuals will miss the resurrection.

You are reading tongues for private use into the verses and therefore not rightly dividing the word of truth.
You are not considering the whole council of God on the matter. Scripture speaks of both tongues in the assembly to the body and tongues in private to God . You keep ignoring that fact and that is why you have backed yourself into a theological corner with no place to go but repetition. See TB2’s posts #39 & #41.

At least you said there is a real gift. You need to stop focusing on the false and focus on the real. There is a counterfeit for most everything good, but that in no way doe’s away with the good,

I was told that bankers in training to spot counterfeit bills do not handle the counterfeit bills. They are given the real bills and from their constant handling of the true bills have now been taught to spot the fake bills.

Same thing with the Word of Truth.
That's why I use only ONE sword and ONE concordance in my studies.
I learn to handle the truth and because of this I am able to spot the false.

But it is those who study the anti-Christ and who might be the false prophet that are the ones that will accept him when he comes.

Terribly sad situation for anyone who has itching ears and desires to be told exactly what they want to hear.

While ignoring scriptures that Paul had set before that chapter that opposes how you apply that verse to mean.

It never bothers you that this tongue for private use you apply that verse to mean is the Spirit speaking mysteries to God when done privately?

Therefore you are not understanding that verse for why Paul said it because you have to read it from verse 1 to see Paul trying to compare the 2 gifts against each other for why prophesy is even better than tongues above all other gifts too.

1 Corinthians 14:1Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

And yet Paul says for the tongue speaker to pray while the Holy spirit is manifesting tongues through him that He may raise another to interpret that tongue so that the tongue speaker may understand it and be fruitful to himself. He repeats the exhortation for saved believers to seek prophesy over tongues. Do note that this is Paul's spirit praying & not the Holy Spirit.

12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

That means verse 2 is just Paul trying to show why prophesy is better than God's gift of tongues because tongues alone needs interpretation as it would be obvious to all tongue speakers that they need interpretation before it can be fruitful and be truly edified.

Personally I have never spoken in toungues but I have experienced the power of God that is in it. I may not have understood what was spoken but when you experience the real thing your in such awe and stunned at his power the life and energy the fire flowing through your veins that blast of his booming voice in your heart you diminish the things of the spirit I live it

By the way when this wave of the spirit comes and when his kingdom is brought here by those he has called to be a part of what he is doing just be open and throw away any pre notion you hold or else you won't recieve what is coming and trust me this isn't sdmething you want to miss out on Jesus smiled at me winked and said this is going to be fun.

Did you know there is a specific sound when God shows up in person?

And He also said, "desire spiritual gifts."
You're playing one Scripture against the other.
The instruction in private tongues or tongues in fellowship is to edify yourself.
Again, playing off one Scripture against the other.
The human spirit is created by God in the believer at the moment of conversion so that the believer may process spiritual phenomenon and communicate with God who is Spirit.

If the tongue is Spirit-given and there's no interpretation, then it is meant for the edification of the believer speaking the unknown tongue under the anointing for He speaks to God. It can go either way with the Spirit.

And I don't see the addition of interpretation of tongues to be edified. Paul makes no assertion.

That means verse 2 is just Paul trying to show why prophesy is better than God's gift of tongues because tongues alone needs interpretation as it would be obvious to all tongue speakers that they need interpretation before it can be fruitful and be truly edified.
No gift is better than another. Paul is simply saying that in the context of church what everyone can understand is more helpful to everyone collectively than something that no one understands. You always leave out the "UNLESS" part.

1 Corinthians 14.5:

"The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified."

*Paul is being very practical. The concept is extremely simple and straightforward: when you're in church everything must be done in order and to edify everyone there collectively:

"Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God."

*Again, it's right there plain as day. If there's no interpreter in church, the tongues speaker "should keep quiet in the church." But that's not a prohibition against all tongue speaking of every kind, everywhere (including in private); only in church when there's no interpretation. Paul even says, the tongue speaker can still (privately) "speak to himself and God."

*The fact that you are so desperate to try to make this a prohibition against tongue speaking to God in private shows that (for some reason) you are driven by a deep seated personal agenda, instead of simply wanting to know what Scripture says and letting the Bible speak for itself.

*You have made a lot of accusatory remarks against people here, essentially accusing them of supporting a "false gospel." People have been very charitable to you in return and will continue to do so. But I must caution you not to continue to oppose clear teaching in Scripture. The Bible simply doesn't say that an interpretation is required for a person speaking in tongues in private. Only in the context of church.

@EarlyActs & @Matt5 & @civic

According to 1 John 4:4, & 2 Corinthians 13:5 Jesus Christ is in you and so when they preach the Spirit of Christ as being felt outside of you in the worship place or any place, or feeling a spirit coming over you as if filling you ( thief breaking in ) as standing apart from the call of the gospel from when you were saved when you had first believed, that is the spirt of the antichrist; 1 John 4:3 & 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15

Such a phenomenon can seduce and inspire wayward believers into seeking that phenomenon again by invoking the "Holy Spirit" to come and to "visit" them again by a sign or by a wonder which is in hypocrisy when He is in them since salvation. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 & 2 Corinthians 11:1-4

The indwelling Holy Spirit will always keep our eyes on the son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ because He is the Bridegroom.

The visiting spirits of the antichrist would take our eyes off of the Son ( hence instead of Christ ) to seeking that presence or that phenomenon.

Pray to the Lord Jesus Christ in normal language to deliver you or to keep you from the thieves in these latter days that would cause believers to be out in the market place seeking to be filled with oil and thus be in iniquity for why He does not know them as they get left behind.

Matthew 25:1-13 KJV Do note that the five foolish virgins of the ten virgins ARE the kingdom of Heaven, but they missed out on the Marriage Supper at the pre great tribulation rapture event. The Lord will get those lost sheep as they will hear His voice literally as their King of kings after the great tribulation as they will no longer follow that stranger's voice, tongues for private use nor chase after seducing spirits any more. They will see & serve their King of kings on earth and no longer seek the glory of any movement of the spirits of the antichrist, but the glory of their King.

John 10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

The objective, historic Christ should be our guide on this. Notice in I J that the false spirit says he never came in bodily form.

I'm aware of one I J verse that appears to stress the subjective ('trust the spirit that is in you') yet this is not conclusive grammatically, and is not enough by itself.
