So how do you test to see if they

When you get a "prophesy", you file it in "Pending", and wait for confirmation before you commit any resources on the basis of it. As I've said before, my wife was given a "prophesy" years ago. so we filed it. And a month later a totally different man unrelated to us, or to the first "prophet", gave her the IDENTICAL prophetic word. That's when you start taking it seriously.

Most Christians consider those four exceptions to the rule, not the norm among false prognosticators. I don't know of any Christians who think Dixon or Nostradamus were moved by the Holy Spirit (HS). I have met some who believe Roberts and Hinn were authentic. I have met both Roberts and Hinn and do not find either of them "moved" by the HS.

I am, therefore, wondering about more common, everyday examples of Christian teachers who might fall into that category. Since it is your op, would you care to offer some examples who fall into a more commonly accepted group who have a greater influence among mainstream Christians?

I would say Billy Graham would be seen in this category...

The warning is not to add to the living, abiding word the sword of the Spirt . We have the perfect. There are no laws missing by which we could know our Holy Father more intimately or adequately.

Satan the king of lying sign to wonder/ marvel after. . . . . rather than prophecy, is still trying today to add to the perfect, with the oral traditons of dying mankind.

Jesu informs us that if every time he revealed the lies of the oral traditons of men and wrote them down we would need a bigger planet to store the volumes upon volumes.

The disciples after being told over and over to not seeks signs to wonder after (a Pagan foundation ) In effect saying "do not replace prophecy" with lies . He refused to answer again as a warning not to seek after signs to wonder , , rather than the perfect living abiding.

Yes, he would.

And for that reason, he is not to be considered a valid teacher of eschatology. His Christology, his soteriology, his ecclesiology, is other ~ologies, perhaps, but his eschatology was wack. This is demonstrated any occasion he predictions that did not come true. However, the term "prophet" ought to be defined.

Ephesians 4:11-13
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

Prophets are not apostles, teachers, evangelists, pastors, teachers, or any of the other positions of leadership God gave his body. This op specifies prophets. Graham? Great evangelist, poor prophet. David Jeremiah? Good teacher, very poor prophet.

Of course it (power of faith) as it is written (sola scriptura) is that which made the the oral traditons of dying mankind without effect. We worship the one unseen Holy Father not a legion called fathers called by the Pope patron saints

Acts 24:13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: Sola scriptura.

We defend that which defends us (the whole Armor) no defense against it .
