Pope Francis.

If we are really, truly Christians we will be aware!

Not necessarily. People get caught up in the lie all the time. Enough of us have been caught up in some crazy stuff that we understand the blindness of some moments.

We are called by God to share the Gospel with the lost, and the followers of the RCC and their pope are as lost as anyone else, being deceived by a false religious system.

Just because God can save whomever He chooses, from any group He desires, doesn't absolve us of the particular care God has given us and that is to share the Gospel of salvation with those who don't know it.

God brought me to Him. He arranges in many ways to teach others, even those in cults. If we are temporarily in a church, or atheistic family, He can still accomplish His plans. I don't stop sharing the gospel.

I agree, but if there are false teachers then we all must be aware.
I agree and am aware after spending years in a cult. I also know that God brings people to Him.

Um, slight disagreement here because we all , on here, are truly Christians. But there is apparent unawareness in the salvation end of things and
many get led astray by false teachings and will argue those beyond reason.

I believe that God transform us when He saves. We read our Bibles to know God's will. The Bible and the Holy Spirit don't lead us to Catholicism or Mormonism, etc.

Thy word is truth.

John 17:17
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Romans 8
9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

And 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

I don't believe sanctification is the main difference between Catholics and Protestants. It's authority in my opinion.

My post was mostly to Rella. I think true Christians read their Bible because they want to know God's will.

No problem. Didn't mean to interrupt your conversation.. I'll not bother you further.

I believe that that is the reason why most people start to read their bibles. Some with more study then others.

But the fact is of those who read their bibles there is a definite split on what certain scriptures mean and the understanding that they glean
from their readings.

There is another forum I am on that has a subject on free will and this particular thread has nearly 10,000 responses.... of pro and con belief.

All from folks who KNOW their bibles but somehow read a scripture and it says something different to many of them.

And?
Do we appoint a of fallible man to adjudicate these different interpretations?
Where in the Bible does God gives one man the one and only true understanding so that man can speak as god?

When each man interprets for himself, over the last centuries since the Reformation, oddly enough we still have a vast body of Christians who are recognizable as coherently agreed on the larger doctrinal issues.
"Jesus died for our sins" We can argue each and every word endlessly as to the exact meaning but we all agree that is a true statement.

As for the individual or even denominational differences, it is applied in real life in real time. And it means a different application in each instance.

"Love thy neighbor" OK, we all agree that is a right and proper Christian thing to do but I have a neighbor who is a nasty mean old man. He hates everyone, including God. And he starts fights and loves to sue people.
OK, I love him but I sure don't like him.
That is an individual interpretation in a real life situation.

It is not so much "different interpretations" as it is different applications.

Arminianism and Calvinism aside, where does the Bible teach Catholicism and Mormonism, Armstrongism, etc. If it doesn't matter what we believe, why did God gives us a Bible?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow by it.”

Many people have claimed to be Christians, but have no interest in daily Bible reading. They never grow.
