Who specifically has claimed to be God?

The "pope" (whoever is in the office at the time) claims to be Christ on Earth (and Christ is God manifest in the flesh). He claims to have all authority in heaven, on the earth and under the earth. He demands, and claims the right to, submission from all Christians everywhere. He has titles of blasphemy that belong to God alone (Holy Father, Rector Orbis, King of kings, etc.).

Edit: one of the blasphemous titles of the "pope" is Vicar of Christ (which means "Instead of Christ" - i.e. anti-Christ). He is hiding in plain sight.

The LDS have their own beliefs that we find ridiculous as well. A relationship with Jesus is the way to go, Religions tend to welcome corruption.

There are many pseudo-Christian cults (Mormonism, JWs, Christadelphians, etc.); but, none of them fit the biblical description of the Whore of Babylon, except Roman Catholicism; also, the Whore has "harlot daughters" (i.e. other deceptive organisations that are also idolatrous).

Though I for one do not necessarily believe they claimed these things... even if proven true... They are dead and no longer influence anyone.

I think it far more important to follow what anyone... Catholic or Protestant... says that might be taken out of context or mistranslated
to confuse the people.

When I hear someone say.... someone of influence say.... "During a three-day visit to Singapore, declared that “all religions are a path to God,” sparking backlash among religious leaders in the U.S. My ears pick up.

Of course, these are not sound statements, I think we would all agree.

So things are often said and end up confusing the people from the Pope to Billy Graham and I for one would not be a bit surprised if God the Father, Himself, holds us all accountable for things that mislead either by accident or on purpose.

No. I took instruction, as they call it, in the Catholic church for a very short time before becoming a Mormon. I am called to expose Mormonism; I will not entangle myself in discussions about Catholicism, and did not expect the topic to arise at this site.

but an American Pope.... ?

Think the bigger picture.

IF God did save Trump when he was shot in Butler PA, as Trump believes and for the record, so do I.... that is for a specific reason.

Now the first ever Pope from the US... at the same time.

Beyond that I will wait and watch. And see if our Heavenly Father is moving us closer to the end in end times.

They wont talk about the new Popes past for he is all about an open border for us... And has been a great shield, from what I hear on Clergy sex abuses, and I believe he is all about the new world order etc... Just like Frankie. And has always been an Anti-Trumper.
