Conversely, in the parable of the ten virgins, everyone wanted to attend and they were even anxious to meet the bridegroom but half of them were not adequately prepared to keep their lamp vessels filled in order to stay punctual and meet the bridegroom at the appointed time.

The overall conclusion was:

Yet, the interpretation has nothing to do with farming. So what did Jesus do? In effect, I'm trying to do the same thing. Apply the parable of the ten virgins to a real world situation that naturally explains the parable.

Kind of weird that all the virgins are sleeping in the parable, but I noticed that a lot of that is going on today. Lots of Christians sleeping.

I believe this is a great pastoral sermon by Christ. And he is speaking of the state of his church. As there will be goats among the sheep.

Again, I think it's talking about the state of the church. And that it is not sufficient to profess to follow Jesus but we must also persevere.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." ( James 1:12, NIV)

Indeed our faith is tested. A professed faith that is not evident by one's behavior isn't a person that abides in Jesus. Abiding is a crucial paradigm for a follower of Jesus. Not being prepared is evidence of not abiding.

When the bridegroom comes he will know his bride because they have received the gift of the Spirit (which is the oil). It seems obvious the lamps would be the heart.

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." ( Titus 3: 4- 7 )

The Bridegroom is Christ of course, the time of the wedding is at his second coming. I think the "night" refers to the churches state in the world 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

Yes - night is consistent with a spiritual state of our world.

Also the virgins are those who profess Christ. But the wise virgins are the true believers. Those who are foolish are those who have tasted of the heavenly gift (as in Hebrews 6) but have not perservered.

Piles of agreement here. If one has tasted, immersed themselves, and were completely enlightened about the gift of salvation but then deliberately chooses to proceed onward toward the path of destruction, they have rejected the -only- means of salvation.

Faith Tested

This envisioned topic is not about testing God as the Jews did at at Massah in Exodus 17: 2 ( Deuteronomy 6:16 ), it's about exploring the depths of one's faith through testing using the tools at hand. The toolbox is enormous using a biblical scaffolding coupled directly to logic and reason, morality, critical thinking, and christian philosophy.
