But it may cause an explosion. If I were too point at those influential individuals in my Christian walk I would be hard pressed to find a better representation than this:

There are, of course, a few others but the theology of these two men lives behind my eyes for various reasons. My true theological bent comes from C. H. Spurgeon but these two share so much of that room that it just brings me joy to see this picture.

How about you?

John MacArthur thought: "Now that R C is in heaven, he is an eschatological Dispensationalist!"

R C Sproul thought: "Now that I am in Heaven, I can't wait until Johnny Mac gets here to see amillenialism is true!"

John Owen, probably, then Sproul, maybe. Haven't listened as much to MacArthur. Sproul, I find saying things that I have thought all along, but he says them better.

Not that Sproul is better than Owen at apologetics, nor is Owen weaker logically, but Owen does not strike me as engaged in that the way Sproul was. Instead, I find myself using him to demonstrate that the 'arguments' against the Reformed (such as that they tend to think sin doesn't matter, or that there is no motivation for holiness, nor love for God) are strawmen. Bar none, I've found Owen's writings, such as The Mortification of Sin, not only more comprehensive in dealing with their subjects, but more compelling by way of Scripture and Faith, and his turn of phrase —not just by logic— than any other writer or teacher/preacher/debater, short of Scripture itself.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

He used to be what he (and others) call Panmil —it'll all pan out in the end. I tend toward premil myself, but I'm just about convinced nobody has it quite right. I don't think it is critical doctrine; to me it is far more important how we live than that we recognize the place we hold on a theoretical timeline. If, for example, a person is right about the mark of the Beast, what makes him think he will be able to avoid it, just because he recognizes the signs, if he has the habit of self-indulgence?

No one is 100% right until after the fact. So no worries at all ( I'm Pre-mil, Pre-Trib myself ). It's impossible for a born again believer to take the mark so I'm 100% certain there is no conflict there. Since the church won't be around at that particular time I'm doubly certain that it won't be an issue. I'll let the Mid-Post Trib folks sweat that one out.

James switched from Amil too Post recently in the last few years. I'd say due to his daughter marrying a Post-Mil gentleman more than an exegetical reason. But I believe there is a video out there with James explaining his switch.

I too began and continued my introduction and study of Calvinist/Reformed. Others too though. I recently discovered a Reformed preachers sermons on youtube---Voddie Baucham. He has some powerful sermons. One of my favorites is "The Rescuer". I would like to post some of them on the forum but don't know if it is allowed or if they are where they should be placed.

Depending on the topic it might fit in our Christian Walk area?

Voddie is a leader I feel is very trustworthy.
