My name is Rye and I am a reformed Baptist.

I randomly stumbled across this site and many of the discussions happening here look interesting. I also recognized a few names that I’m familiar with from on another forum.

Anyway, I’m happy to be here, I look forward to getting to know everybody and occasionally I may chime in with a thought or two. :)

Welcome to the forums, Rye. Glad to have you.

Just as a matter of curiosity and because it is often the case, do you have any beliefs or positions that are NOT typical for a Particular Baptist?

I’m not too familiar with what Particular Baptists believe exactly but I can tell you that I have read a lot through John Gill’s commentary. I also like Spurgeon, Sproul and John McCarthur.

Welcome to the Forum Rye. We look forward to your input.

I’m not too familiar with what Particular Baptists believe exactly ... [snip rest]

It is the denomination you identified as. Particular Baptist is what they were called for hundreds of years (and when the LBCF was written) until the mid-20th century when the name Reformed Baptist started appearing. Since they are interchangeable terms, I stick with the historic and clear term, Particular Baptist (and to avoid the confusion caused by the term Reformed).

Beware! I don't think there are any safe forums or boards here, immune to contradiction and debate. For example——I say, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RANDOM. (But you are not required to respond. You can let me be right :p ) God brought you here! Whether you like it or not!

Gotcha. Well I don’t mind being called a “particular Baptist” or if some want to call me a “reformed Baptist”, that’s okay with me. Just don’t call me Shirley. ;)

So, what about the question I asked? Do you have any beliefs or positions that are NOT typical for a Particular Baptist?

I don’t know. I read lots of reformed theology and that’s all I can tell you for now.
BTW, this should come clear in conversations to come, but please understand that if you are not typical in your beliefs, it doesn't mean anything against you.

Do we have the Westminster Confession and/or the LBCF posted/pinned here?
